Ques. Is B.Sc. Applied Electronics still offered at MGU-affiliated colleges, or has it been replaced?
Ans. Under the new MGU-UGP (University Graduate Programme) framework introduced from 2024 onwards, the programme is now offered as B.Sc. (Honours) Electronics with Computer Technology, a 4-year Honours degree. The older 3-year B.Sc. Applied Electronics has been restructured into this new format. Students who join from 2024 onwards will be enrolled in the 4-year Honours programme, which offers multiple exit options: Certificate after Year 1, Diploma after Year 2, B.Sc. after Year 3, and B.Sc. Honours after Year 4.
Ques. What is the difference between B.Sc. Applied Electronics and B.Sc. Electronics at MGU?
Ans. B.Sc. Applied Electronics traditionally focused more on the practical and applied aspects of electronics, including industrial electronics, instrumentation, and applied circuit design. B.Sc. Electronics (now B.Sc. Electronics with Computer Technology under MGU-UGP) integrates core electronics with computer technology, covering digital systems, microprocessors, embedded systems, and programming. Under the current MGU-UGP framework, both have been merged into a unified B.Sc. (Honours) Electronics with Computer Technology programme.
Ques. What are the career opportunities after B.Sc. (Applied Electronics) / B.Sc. Electronics with Computer Technology from MGU?
Ans. Graduates can pursue careers in electronics manufacturing, embedded systems development, telecommunications, IT companies, and government technical departments. Ques. Can I pursue B.Sc. Applied Electronics through distance mode from MGU?
Ans. No, B.Sc. Applied Electronics / B.Sc. Electronics with Computer Technology is a full-time, on-campus programme and is not available through distance or online mode from MGU. The programme involves extensive laboratory work and practical sessions that require physical presence. MGU's Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) does not offer this programme in distance mode. Students must attend classes regularly at the affiliated college where they are admitted.
