Calicut University: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 11 Reviews

The college has a low faculty-to-student ratio with only 5 faculty members for 80 students, limiting practical experiences and personal interaction. Semester exams are tough with a low pass rate, and students need to commute for exams, which are evaluated quickly within a week using a barcode system. The college encourages extracurricular engagement through NSS and NCC programs. Placements are facilitated by inviting companies to recruit, with students needing to meet specific criteria and pass qualifying rounds.

Internships are offered but not consistently across all departments, with guidance available for interested students. Scholarships such as e-grantz and central sector scholarships help support students based on caste and merit, but some categories, like OBC, face challenges in accessing these benefits. The college charges an annual tuition fee of about 25,000 rupees, with additional fees, and government college students generally pay 6,000 rupees annually. Despite the affordable fee structure and available financial aid, there is a lack of direct placement or internship support from the university, which is not responsible for securing jobs or stipends for students.

Detailed information regarding fees and scholarships can be found on the university's website.

Calicut University: 2 Answered Questions

Can I apply for an improvement exam after completing 6 years of concerned degree courses from University of Calicut?

Prabhjot Dev
Hk KhanBachelor of technology in Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering, University of Calicut

Calicut University offers 2 types of exams to compensate for below minimum marks:

  1. Improvement Exam

  2. Supplementary Exam

If you are referring to an Improvement Exam to increase marks of an exam you have already given then the answer is no.

But if you are referring to the Supplementary Exam to pass an exam you haven’t obtained minimum marks in yet, the answer is yes. There might be some chances for the same.

You cannot apply for an improvement paper if you have obtained your provisional degree certificate. This is because once you receive the provisional certificate it means you have successfully passed the course and no further changes can be made.

Any more doubts can be further addressed to the University Exam Wing. Just make sure to keep important documents within reach.
