Although he had options like BITS Pilani and IIIT Hyderabad, he chose IIT Indore CSE based on the brand value of IITs. Admission was secured through JEE Advanced with a rank around 1400, followed by JoSAA counseling and document verification, which he found straightforward though slightly lengthy.

In terms of academics, he rates the faculty highly, especially in his branch, highlighting a strong faculty-to-student ratio of approximately 2:5. He appreciates the open and collaborative environment where students can easily approach professors for discussions or research opportunities. IIT Indore Admissions: Students' Opinion

  • BTech

AI-Generated Summary based on 162 Reviews

Admission to the B.Tech in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at IIT Indore is through the JEE Advanced exam, which follows qualification via JEE Main. Students need a minimum of 75% in Class 12 board exams to be eligible. The JEE Advanced is highly competitive, with a general category cutoff around AIR 9500 to 11000, whereas other categories have different cutoffs due to reservation policies. Application forms for JEE Main and JEE Advanced are available on the respective websites of NTA and the conducting IIT for that year.

Following these exams, the admission process involves JoSAA counselling, which handles seat allocation based on JEE Advanced ranks. IIT Indore adheres to a reservation policy including percentages for OBC, SC, ST, EWS, and female candidates. The counselling process is conducted online, and successful candidates are required to undergo document verification. There is no option for management quota, emphasizing merit-based admission entirely. The admission process might entail a registration fee of approximately INR 40,000 as part of securing a seat during counselling.

The JEE Advanced is conducted once a year, with very limited attempts allowed, emphasizing the competitive nature of admissions at IITs. Reservation policies can significantly lower the cutoffs for reserved categories, making the process inclusive yet challenging.
