Manipur University Admission Dates 2026

Admissions for the 2026-27 academic session are anchored by CUET UG 2026 for most undergraduate programmes and CUET PG 2026 for most postgraduate programmes. The Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT) conducts its own entrance test for BE admissions. Application windows closed between July and September 2026 and document verification with departmental counselling are currently in progress.

Manipur University Courses and Fees

Manipur University offers over 180 courses spanning engineering, sciences, humanities, social sciences, commerce, management, law, education, and the performing arts. Total fees across programmes range from INR 5,590 for short certificate courses to INR 3,07,240 for the four-year BE programme at MIT.

Undergraduate programmes follow the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) framework under the National Education Policy 2020, with multiple entry and exit options. Manipur University Admission Process

BE at Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT)

The Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT), a constituent unit of Manipur University established in 1972, offers the BE programme in five branches. Admission is through the MU Entrance Test conducted by the university annually in June.

• Eligibility: 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with at least 45% aggregate marks
• Selection process: MU Entrance Test score, counselling registration, choice filling, seat allotment, document verification, and admission confirmation
• Lateral entry to BE second year: Diploma in Engineering with minimum 45% for eligible candidates
• Reservations as per Government of India norms: SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwD categories

Undergraduate Programmes (BA / B.Sc / B.Com / BBA)

Most UG programmes in the University Teaching Departments admit students through CUET UG scores. A department-wise merit list is prepared based on CUET UG performance in the relevant subject papers.

• Eligibility: 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised board with 45% aggregate for most programmes
• B.Sc (Hons) programmes require 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology depending on the subject
• BBA (Hons) requires 10+2 with at least 45% in any stream
• Selection is merit-based with reservations per Government of India norms

For non-CUET UG programmes and affiliating college admissions, applications are accepted through the Manipur University Admission Portal at manipurunivadm.samarth.edu.in. The FYUP framework allows students to exit after one year (Certificate), two years (Diploma), three years (UG degree), or four years (UG Hons degree).

Postgraduate Programmes (MA / M.Sc / MBA / MCA / LLM)

PG admissions are processed through CUET PG scores or the Manipur University PG Entrance Examination for programmes not covered under CUET PG. Programmes managed through the CUET PG portal include MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MCA, MBA, LLM, M.Ed, and MFA.

• MBA: Graduation with 55% in any discipline, valid CUET PG score
• M.Sc: B.Sc (Hons) or B.Sc Pass in the relevant subject with 50% marks
• MCA: BCA or B.Sc with Mathematics as a subject, 50% aggregate
• LLM: LLB or equivalent law degree with 50% marks, MU PG Entrance
• M.Tech: BE or B.Tech in relevant discipline with 55%, valid GATE score or MU PG Entrance

Ph.D. Programmes

Research admissions are governed by the MU Research Entrance Test (MU-RET) followed by a departmental interview with the Research and Admission Committee. The university offers Ph.D. across all its schools and departments.

• Eligibility: Master’s degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC, ST, and PwD candidates)
• UGC-JRF or CSIR-NET qualified candidates are exempt from MU-RET
• Admission finalized after the departmental interview

Manipur University operates a Training and Placement Cell that liaises with industry for campus recruitment drives. Structured campus placements are most active for engineering (MIT) and management (MBA) graduates. Arts, science, and humanities graduates predominantly pursue competitive examinations, government employment, and higher education or research programmes.

Engineering graduates from MIT have been recruited by companies including Infosys, HP, HCL, Ericsson, Tata Consulting Engineers, Airtel, and BSNL. Manipur University Campus and Infrastructure

The Manipur University main campus occupies 287 acres at Canchipur on the Indo-Myanmar Road, situated at the foothills of the Langol Hill range, 8 km from Imphal city centre.
