Utkal University was established in 1943, is the seventeenth oldest University in India. The Foundation stone of this campus was laid by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India on 1st January 1958 and was inaugurated by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the second President of India on 2nd January 1963. The university offers various Postgraduate, M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses.
For Ph.D. courses candidates having valid qualifying scores in any of the entrance will be exempted from written test.
It is a national level admission test for M.Tech and Ph.D. courses. On a rotational basis, the exam is conducted by IISc Bangalore and 7 IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee). GATE Eligibility Criteria requires Bachelor’s degree in related field of engineering and science. GATE exam is conducted in online mode for 23 papers. The duration of exam is 3 hours with a total of 65 questions. GATE Exam Pattern is divided into 3 sections namely General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics and specific subject of the paper.
UGC-CSIR-NET is conducted for selection of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship and/or Assistant Lectureship. The exam is conducted for Life science, Earth science, Mathematical science, Chemical science, and Physical science. CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria is a degree in B. Pharma or BE or B. Tech or MSc or MBBS or Integrated BS-MS or any other science degree with at least 55% marks. CSIR NET Exam Pattern is divided into 3 sections and needs to be completed in 3 hours. A total of 200 Multiple Choice questions are present in the exam. Every correct answer will be awarded 1 mark and wrong answer will deduct 0.25 mark.

M.Phil. Admission will be made on the basis of career-cum-written test and viva-voce, i.e., 40% career + 40% written test + 20% viva-voce. Ph.D. applicants must verify the eligibility of holding Master degree with minimum 55% marks. The candidates qualifying UGC-CSIR-NET/ GATE will be approved by the Vice-Chancellor and are exempted from written test only.
