Should you pick B.Sc (Hons) Physics at LPU?
This course suits students who like maths-heavy physics and plan on a master's, research or teaching.
Pick it if:
You want to try research before a master's: the fourth year is the research year, with a research methods course and your own project.
You want more than physics on your degree: you can add an engineering minor or an open minor, or study abroad for a term.
You did not write JEE Main or CUET: LPU takes its own LPUNEST score, and a good score also cuts your tuition fee.
You want the fee back fast: at the median pay the full fee comes back inside the first working year, as the ROI tile shows.
Skip it if:
You want pay figures for physics alone: LPU publishes one median for all its 3-year UG students, not a figure for this course.
You want a job right after the degree: most physics jobs in research and teaching need a master's first, so plan for two more years.
You need a cheap place to stay: hostel and mess are charged on top of the course fee, and rooms are given first come, first served.
You scored below 60% in Class 12: you miss the marks rule unless you are in the 5% relaxation group, which needs 55%.
Counsellor's advice
If you have not written LPUNEST yet, write it before you pay anything. A better score cuts your tuition fee by up to half.

In short
Chandigarh University charges a little less tuition, ranks higher in NIRF and asks for only 50% in Class 12. If you clear both, compare the scholarship each gives on your score before you pay a booking amount.
In short
Amity Noida ranks higher in NIRF, but its course here is three years with no research year. If you want the research year, LPU fits better; if you want to finish in three years, Amity is the closer match.
In short
Sharda charges less tuition but sits much lower in the NIRF University list. If the lower fee matters most, keep Sharda as a backup and ask for its hostel cost first.
In short
Manipal University Jaipur shows a higher median pay for 3-year UG students, but its full fee for this course is not published. If you are weighing it, ask for its four-year fee and compare it with LPU's INR 4 Lakhs.
Fees and pay can change. Check each college site before you decide.
FAQs on LPU B.Sc (Hons) Physics
Straight answers to what students ask before they decide.
Is B.Sc (Hons) Physics at LPU worth the fee?▾
Yes, if you plan a master's or a research career. The full fee without hostel is INR 4.40 Lakhs, and LPU's 3-year UG median pay was INR 5 LPA in 2024-25. That median covers all UG courses, not physics alone. Ask the department for physics placement figures before you book the seat.
Should I take this course if I want a job right after the degree?▾
Only if you are ready to add skills beyond physics. Most physics jobs in research and teaching need a master's first. If you want a quick job, use the engineering minor or the open minor the course offers, and pick live projects in years 2 and 3.
Who should not take this course at LPU?▾
Skip it if you scored below 60% in Class 12 and are not in the relaxation group, or if you want to finish in three years. This is a four-year course with a research year. If money is tight, add hostel and mess too, which take the total to INR 9.40 Lakhs.
Is the fourth research year worth it?▾
Yes, if you want a master's or a PhD. The fourth year gives you a research methods course and your own project, which a research application needs. If you do not plan to study further, ask LPU in writing whether you can leave after three years with a degree before you pay.
Is this course good for higher studies in physics?▾
Yes. The four-year Hons with Research degree lets you apply for a master's, and UGC rules let a four-year degree lead to a PhD if your marks are high. Keep your CGPA high from year 1 and take the research project seriously, because both decide your admission later.
Should I choose LPU if my LPUNEST score is low?▾
You can still join if your Class 12 marks clear 60%, but you lose most of the fee waiver. A score of 150 or more gets 30% off the tuition fee, and 220 or more gets 50%. If a later LPUNEST phase is still open, write it again before you book the seat.
Should I wait a year for a better score?▾
No, not for this course. Entry depends on the 60% marks rule and a qualifying score, not a closing rank, so waiting does not get you a better seat. Only a better LPUNEST score cuts the fee, and you can write a later phase in the same year.
Is LPU good for B.Sc (Hons) Physics?▾
It depends on what you want from the course. LPU stands #31 in the NIRF University ranking 2025 and holds NAAC A++. If you want a research year and a minor, it fits well. Check the compare block above to see how it stands against colleges in its league.
Will I get a scholarship at LPU for this course?▾
Yes, if your LPUNEST score is 150 or more. The waiver is 30% to 50% of the tuition fee, worth INR 1.20 Lakhs to INR 2 Lakhs over the course. You keep it only if you keep the CGPA LPU sets, so read that rule before you book the seat.
What is the full fee for this course?▾
The full four-year fee is INR 4.40 Lakhs without hostel. That is INR 50,000 tuition and INR 5,000 exam fee each semester. With a 4-seater room with a cooler and three meals a day, it comes to INR 9.40 Lakhs. The toggle in the fee block shows both totals.
How do I get admission to this course?▾
Apply online for LPUNEST, or use your JEE Main or CUET score. You need 60% in Class 12 with Physics, Maths and English. After the result, pay the booking amount to hold the seat, then pay the first semester fee and report with your original mark sheets.
Can I get a hostel room at LPU?▾
Yes, but LPU gives rooms first come, first served. The common 4-seater room with a cooler costs INR 83,700 a year, and three meals a day add INR 41,400 a year. Book the room as soon as you book the seat, so you are not left with a costlier one.
Admission to the university is granted primarily through the LPUNEST entrance exam, with some seats available via management quota. The admission process, including fee submission and documentation, is efficient, taking just 1 to 2 days. The teaching staff is generally well-regarded, combining experienced faculty and recent graduates. The course fee is structured on a semester basis, costing Rs 58,000 per semester, totaling Rs 1.16 lakh annually. The Applied Science department offers solid placement and internship opportunities, supported by a placement cell that integrates essential skill training.
Over 100 companies, including major names like Google and Amazon, participate in the campus recruitment drives. Students can participate in placements from their third year, with the highest package reaching 3 crores and the average B.Tech package at 7 lakhs per annum. Internships and research opportunities begin from the first year, with students encouraged to explore interests and potentially achieve patents. Scholarships offering up to 50% off semester fees are available for high achievers in both the entrance exam and previous academic records.
The fee structure totals approximately Rs. 336,000, with additional exam fees. Payment methods include net banking and direct bank payment. Specific scholarships are available for SC/ST, first-generation graduates, BC students, girls, and athletes, with merit-based scholarships providing 5% to 60% fee relaxation based on LPUNEST performance. Finance companies offer loans at favorable rates. The campus is recognized for its excellent facilities, ranking as one of the best in India.

LPU offers BCA, BCA Hons, and BCA Big Data Analytics in a tie-up with IBM. This offers a great industrial exposure to students.
LPU offers scholarships to its students based on their percentage in the qualifying exam or LPUNEST or in the form of financial aid, and more.
LPU offers various skill development programs, professional training, and opportunities for industrial exposure to its students.
When a student chooses a university, they must consider factors such as academic environment, faculty, placement opportunities, ranking, industrial exposure, professional training, infrastructure, etc. So according to these factors, I can say BCA at LPU is better than IMS Ghaziabad.
