VBPSU takes admission through the Purvanchal University Combined Admission Test (PUCAT) for UG, PG, and Diploma courses. Priority for admission to BTech, B.Pharm, MBA, MCA, and M.Tech programs shall be given to national-level test scores such as JEE Main, CUET UG, CUET PG, and GATE. The final selection for all courses is done through a counselling process conducted by the university based on scores obtained in the entrance examination. Preferences for VBPSU admissions are as follows:
- 70% of seats in all courses of BTech are filled through UPTAC counselling based on JEE Main scores and the remaining 30% of seats are filled through PUCAT
- In case of vacant seats in BTech after UPTAC counselling, VBPSU offers direct admission based on merit in the JEE Main examination.
- 50% of seats in all courses of MBA are filled through CUET-(PG)-2024) and the remaining 50% seats are through PUCAT.
- For MCA vacant seats after CUET PG counselling by UPTAC, admissions are offered based on the merit of PUCAT.
- For MTech admissions at VBSPU, preference is given to GATE scores.

PUCAT
Purvanchal University Combined Admission Test (PUCAT) is a state-level offline test conducted by the Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University for admission to various courses. The entrance examination fee for the test is INR 500 for general category candidates and INR 250 for reserved category students. The application fee payment is to be done in the offline mode only. Once the students have appeared for the exam and cleared the cut-off, they are shortlisted for admission through PUCAT counseling.
