SVSU Meerut B.Tech FAQs
Ques. Does SVSU Meerut B.Tech accept JEE Main scores for lateral merit entry?
Ans. SVSU Meerut conducts its own SNET entrance test for B.Tech admissions. JEE Main is not listed as a primary accepted exam for direct merit-based entry, though candidates can appear for SNET regardless of their JEE Main performance. If you have a strong JEE Main rank, your better options in the NCR region are Sharda University or Amity University Noida, which formally accept JEE Main scores for direct admissions without requiring their own entrance test.
Ques. Is SVSU B.Tech AICTE-approved and does it carry a recognised degree under UGC?
Ans. Yes. Swami Vivekanand Subharti University is a deemed-to-be university recognized by the UGC and its B.Tech programmes are AICTE-approved. Degrees awarded are recognized for government employment, higher studies abroad, and GATE examination eligibility. The deemed university status means the degree is awarded by SVSU directly, unlike AKTU-affiliated colleges where the university awards the degree. For international recognition, the NAAC A grade accreditation of the university generally supports credential verification processes.
Ques. What is the SNET exam format and how difficult is it for B.Tech aspirants?
Ans. SNET, the Subharti National Eligibility Test, is an online entrance examination covering Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English. The test is designed for students who have completed or are appearing in Class 12 PCM and is considerably less competitive than JEE Main. A solid understanding of Class 12 NCERT syllabus is typically sufficient to clear the cut-off for most B.Tech specializations, with CSE and IT being marginally more competitive than core branches like Mechanical and Civil.
Ques. How does SVSU B.Tech CSE placement compare with similar private university programmes in Meerut?
Ans. SVSU B.Tech CSE average placements of INR 3 LPA to INR 4 LPA are typical for private deemed universities in western Uttar Pradesh outside of the top NCR tier. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and regional IT firms recruit from campus. If you are targeting an INR 6 LPA or above average package, institutions like Amity University Noida or Sharda University Greater Noida have historically delivered higher averages. SVSU’s placement advantage is in the diversity of 820-plus company tie-ups across all programmes of the university.
Ques. Does SVSU Meerut offer any lateral entry B.Tech programme for diploma holders?
Ans. Yes. SVSU Meerut admits diploma holders to the second year of B.Tech through the lateral entry route, subject to AICTE norms. Eligible candidates must hold a three-year polytechnic diploma in the relevant engineering branch with a minimum of 45% marks. Lateral entry seats are over and above the regular intake and admission is conducted separately from the main SNET-based process. Diploma holders from UP state polytechnics are eligible to appear for the UPSEE Lateral Entry examination and can also apply directly to SVSU through its own lateral entry process.
