85% of General category BE seats are State Quota seats reserved for West Bengal domicile candidates. A domicile certificate issued by a West Bengal government authority is mandatory for State Quota and all category reservations (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD/TFW). 10% of General seats are All India Quota and are open to any WBJEE ranker regardless of domicile.

No. JU does not offer management quota for any engineering programme. All BE seats are filled through WBJEE counselling conducted by WBJEEB. ME/MTech seats are filled on GATE score and JU admission test merit. There is no direct admission route outside these processes.

Departments including English, Comparative Literature, and Philosophy conduct a JU written test in addition to Class 12 marks. The merit formula for these departments is 50% Class 12 marks and 50% JU written test score. All other BA and BSc subjects at JU admit students purely on Class 12 merit.

What is the application fee for JU ME/MTech admission?

The non-refundable fee is INR 500 for 1 programme option, INR 1,000 for 2 to 4 options, and INR 1,500 for 5 or more options. A maximum of 8 programme choices are allowed. Sponsored category applicants are limited to 1 choice per application.
