VIT Vellore vs GCOE Amravati
My brother is getting admit from btech CSE (DS) in VIT Vellore and Btech IT in GCOE Amravati. I am not sure which college to select and what factors to consider? I heard that we should consider grading leniency, companies visiting for placements, alumni networking, etc. Kindly share your opinions on this

Help needed (College Selection)
# JEE Mains 2025 – 98.7%ile (~20,000 CRL) | Need Help Shortlisting Colleges Hi everyone, I recently appeared for **JEE Mains 2025** and secured a **percentile of \~98.7**, which gives me a **CRL rank around 20,000** (± a few ranks). I’m trying to figure out the best possible options I have, especially after **JoSAA** and **CSAB** rounds, and would love to hear your thoughts. # Branch Preferences * I don’t have a strict branch preference, but I’d **prefer a 4-year circuital branch** (CSE, ECE, EE, etc.). * **Not keen on non-core branches** like Civil or Mining for various reasons (interest, placements, etc.). * Open to flexible or interdisciplinary options if the college reputation and peer group are strong. Colleges I’ve Shortlisted So Far 1. **IIITs** – Mixed opinions here. Some (like IIIT Gwalior, Jabalpur, etc.) seem promising, but I’m unsure about long-term value vs. NITs. 2. **DTU (EE)** and **NSUT (ECE)** – Hoping for upgradations here through later rounds. 3. **NITs** – I want to avoid most North Eastern ones due to location concerns, but **NIT Silchar** is still under consideration. 4. **BIT Mesra** – Again, mixed reviews. Good brand but varied placement reports. # Not Considering * **VITEEE** – Got around 7,000 rank but not planning to join (too many concerns around transparency, fees, and value). * **Private Tier-2 colleges** unless absolutely necessary. # What I Need Help With * Which **IIITs/NITs are worth it** at this rank? Any hidden gems? * Should I **prefer DTU/NSUT over newer IIITs/NITs**? * Any colleges I might have **missed** that are **underrated but great** for ECE/EE/CSE? * Is **BIT Mesra** worth considering for CSE in 2025? * Would it be smarter to **wait for CSAB** rounds or lock in something safer early? Any genuine feedback, suggestions, or personal experiences are appreciated. Thanks in advance (Speaking of it, it was a disaster not feeling good about advanced, not much expectations) and best of luck to everyone out there!

imo getting a cse/ece in an homestate NIT would be best.just check acc to or-cr of josaa and make your bucket list. Except top IIITs(H,B,A,D) not advisable to go for IIITs. Prefer an NIT

Vit vellore vs Newton School of Technology
I am confused which one to choose between them...!

Vellore, Newton School is nothing but a coding bootcamp. At least vellore has a decent rep, and will get you an actual BTech Degree

IIIT Vadodara / Bhopalvs , VIT Vellore , PICT ( CS ) . What should I chose
I have reported to VIT V IT main campus . And CSAB is still left and I have a chance of IIIT V or Bhopal ( CRL 37000 ) Also the issue is MHTCET counselling is also left which is after CSAB . So mere bohot paise already invested hai in all this fiasco . What would be the most optimal decision here . Shall I fill CSAB form ?

What is ECE really about? Please do help me
Like tbvh I'm gonna rant now, i wanted to do mechanical but seeing the value of mechanical engineering in India, my parents are kinda hesitating. Now I'm enrolled into ECE in tier 2 college by MY WISH. Coz I didn't like CSE the way people do, I don't wanna see myself code for 10+ hrs and make smtg I'm not passionate about. So I wanted to ask, what ECE really is? Is quantum computing a really interesting topic? How to have a great interest in ECE things Does it have a lotta mugging up? (I'm bad at it) People say it's hard, but ig with interest, I'll manage it. What are the things I need to expertise to get into a good company like NVIDIA? Please do help me and guide coz I don't wanna ruin my 4 years, I can still opt for a drop (If anyone needs this info, the college is VIT Chennai electronics and communication engg)

Lot of complex math(Think differential equations, multivariable calculus ,advanced functional and graphical analysis).Colleges generally don't teach the math part properly so if you're weak or slow stay away from this branch. You need to mug up a lot too.SAS,DSP and communication subjects are 95% math.(these subjects form 60% of the btech syllabus) Also forming a career in core domain requires both good domain theory and practical knowledge(this is true for all core branches),in CS at least as fresher level you need only decent basic knowledge of subjects(CN,OS,DBMS) but good practical knowledge. This is why in tier2 colleges most students shift to IT domains This makes core branches a much harder nut to crack. In my college ECE students are the most workaholic ones(most of them who actually were interested in it completely lost it after 3 years),their club and Extracurricular participation is the lowest as most of them have to study both their course and learn skills for software jobs(believe me this is seriously mindbogglingly time intensive Join Electrical related branches only if:1)ECE is like MBBS just like only having it won't actually make you a doctor you 100% have to do some specialisation (which is even harder than NEET-UG)take it only if you are ready to study and master them so much so that you 100% are going to masters/PHD in it. ii)Read the subjects, see the textbooks do you like doing circuit analysis(like complex analysis not your KCL KVL stuff) or want to work in analog domain(which has very very few job opportunities) Bottomline unless and until you want to do ECE and nothing else(no matter how hard it gets) don't even think of taking this branch.Take CS and you will thank yourself after few years(It also has its own set of challenges but that is for another day) You either hate ECE or love it there is no in-between remember this.If you are even slightly doubtful I highly doubt you will get something meaningful out of it
