Pratt Institute has its main campus in Brooklyn. Following are the three campuses of Pratt Institute:

Brooklyn Campus

This is the main and historic campus located in the Clinton Hill area of Brooklyn spread over 25-acres of land. Since this is one of the historic places, it is bordered by numerous brownstones and mansions that date back to the 19th century. This campus consists of the schools of art and design, architecture, and liberal arts and sciences.

Manhattan Campus

This campus has a landmark building I.e. the Romanesque Revival building spread over 80,000 square feet of land located in the Chelsea district of Manhattan city. This building serves as the campus. This campus offers associate degree programs, and graduate programs in Arts and Cultural Management, Design Management, Facilities Management, and Real Estate Practice.

Utica, New York Campus

The third campus is located in Utica which is four hours away from New York City. This campus is spread over 11-acres consisting of the College of Art and Design. This campus has a mix of historic and contemporary architecture, featuring the renowned MWPAI Museum of Art.

Housing Facilities at Pratt Institute

Pratt Institute has six residence halls and 26 Townhouses. Around 1900 students live on campus availing the various benefits of residence life. Students are allowed to live either on-campus or off-campus as per their preferences and finances. The various residence halls are divided into north campus and south campus.

North campus halls include Willoughby Hall and Grand Avenue Residence. These north-campus halls reside in most of the upper-class students and graduate students.

Most of the first-year students live on the south campus halls which include Emerson Place, Leo J. Pantas, Vincent A. Stabile, and Esther Lloyd-Jones halls.

International students who want to seek admissions to Pratt Institute can follow the below-mentioned admission process:

How to Apply: International applicants need to submit an online application to be considered for admission.

Application Fee: Non-refundable application fee of 90 USD is to be paid along with the application.

Application Deadline: Students must submit an online application for the spring session by September 1 and for the fall season by November 1.

Basic Admission Requirements:

  • Official transcripts of all secondary and post-secondary studies translated into English.
  • Completed online application form
  • Scores of Standardized exams to study in the US. (SAT/ ACT)
  • Portfolio and writing samples
  • Two letters of recommendation

Students who make it through the application process are communicated the same through a Certificate of Eligibility, which is necessary for an international student to apply for a study visa. Western Washington University’s International Students and Scholars Office issue international selected students either Form I-20 or Form DS-2020 so that students can apply for visas accordingly.

Now the student needs to apply for a visa with the American Consulate located near you and you would need the following for the same:

Scholarship and Financial Aids

Students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarship based on their academic results and other details provided in the application form and thus are not required to submit an additional application for the same. International students are not considered for need-based aid. International students can also avail of student loan options to finance their studies at Pratt Institute.

Work While you Study

Students are allowed to work on campus while being enrolled for a course at Pratt Institute as per their status of immigration so that they don’t violate any rules. In general, international students are not allowed to work for more than 20 hours per week during the term when their classes are going on but for an unlimited period during vacations. Students need to consult the Office of International Affairs; in case they want to earn while studying either on-campus or off-campus opportunities.

Students on F-1 Visa have the following opportunities with them:

  • On-campus Employment- Interested students need to apply online at PrattJobs, or visit the Centre for Career & Professional Development at the campus itself.
  • Circular Practical Training (CPT)- this is an important and integral part of the student curriculum. The student is required to reach OIA with the necessary documents, to begin with, such an internship.
  • Optional Practical Training (OPT)- for this the students are advised to attend the workshop being organized by the OIA and accordingly make their decision.
  • Economic Hardship- this kind of employment is for the student to meet a sudden financial crisis. Students can contact OIA with the necessary documentation to take up such employment.

Students on J-1 Visa are required to go for academic training as part of their curriculum.
