Amherst College Campus

The campus of Amherst College is spread over 1,000 acres, which includes a wildlife sanctuary of about 500 acres. The students run over 100 clubs and organizations on campus. At Amherst, you can be a part of Religion and Spirituality, Sports, Nightlife and other interesting lifestyles. Also, one of the most important parts of Amherst student’s life, The Keefe campus center which is home for the game room, movie theatre, coffee house, post office, WAMH radio and performance spaces.

The areas of attraction of Amherst include, Local Lodging, Restaurants, Town of Amherst, the City of Northampton and some of the most important museums- Emily Dickinson museum, Mead Art museum and Beneski museum of natural history. Apart from the ongoing life, Amherst Campus also hosts several events throughout the year, some of them are:

Amherst College Residence

There are a total of 34 residence halls available for students, in which 98% of the student population lives on campus. Students can easily choose where they want to live. Students living on campus can always ask for assistance from the team of dean, area coordinators, and 62 students residence counselors, who are always available on campus. 

If students decide to live on campus, they can be a part of ongoing events and activities that are run by the students themselves. And if they choose to live off-campus, they can opt for it in the housing application and can do so if the application is approved by the authorities. Living off-campus can be difficult for students, considering cost and availability.

Amherst College Programs

Amherst College has 40 major programs for undergraduate students. Students can also choose more than one major and can also pursue their own interdisciplinary majors-although in such a situation, a formal proposal is to be submitted to the faculty member. Amherst offers a total of 850 programs and more than 6,000 courses through five college consortiums. 

With the acceptance rate of 13%, 84% of classes have fewer students than 30. Also, there are 209 full-time instructional faculty in fields of study: arts, humanities, social science and natural science. Furthermore, the ratio of male and female students in this institution is 5:5. 

Amherst College Application Process

The students who want to take admission to Amherst College, must follow the same application process as domestic students. The only addition for international students is the English language proficiency test.

Amherst College Scholarship and Financial Aid

Amherst College provides need-based financial aid to students. Students can apply for financial aid by submitting the CSS Profile form. Approximately 55% of the students are given financial aid. Amherst offers generous scholarships to both domestic and international students. In 2019, the average financial aid award was more than 55,000 USD. 

Also, Amherst College is one of the five US institutions that provide need-blind admission and full-need financial aid to its students.
