University of Dayton Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027

Indian graduate applicants need a 4-year bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA 3.0 on 4.0 scale (about 75% or CGPA 7.5/10), verified by WES or SpanTran.

  • PG Academic: Bachelor’s with GPA 3.0/4.0, roughly 75% or CGPA 7.5/10 in Indian scale
  • English Test (PG): IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 80 or PTE 60 or Duolingo 110
  • Credential Verification: WES or SpanTran evaluation mandatory for Indian transcripts
  • MBA-specific: GMAT/GRE optional; waiver granted for STEM, Business, Economics, or Math bachelor’s holders

  • English Test (UG): IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 70 or PTE 50 or Duolingo 100 or iTEP 4.0
  • Test Optional: SAT 1200 to 1380 or ACT 26 to 32 (middle 50%); submission optional

Key insight: There is no blanket Medium of Instruction (MOI) waiver at University of Dayton. Indian applicants seeking a waiver must submit a written proposal with alternative proof and clear a Zoom interview.

University of Dayton Acceptance Rate 2027

The University of Dayton acceptance rate stands at 62% for the most recent Fall cycle, placing it firmly in the moderately selective bracket for US private research universities. This figure is officially published by the university admissions office.

YearAcceptance RateTrend
Fall 202662%Stable
Fall 202572% (estimated)Tightening

Roughly 22,000 applications are received each year across undergraduate and graduate tracks. Graduate admission depends heavily on programme-specific criteria, particularly for engineering and computer science.

Reality check: A 62% acceptance rate reads generous, but Indian applicants to MS Computer Science and MS Business Analytics face tighter internal shortlisting because those cohorts are oversubscribed each year.

University of Dayton Placements and Career Outcomes 2027

University of Dayton reports strong graduate placement outcomes across engineering, business, and computer science, with MBA cohorts posting the highest starting salaries.

  • MBA Average Starting Salary: USD 80,663 (INR 77.19 lakh) as per University of Dayton MBA outcomes
  • STEM MS Salary Range: USD 65,000 to 90,000 (INR 62.20 to 86.12 lakh) — market median for MS Computer Science and Business Analytics graduates in the US Midwest
  • Top Recruiter Sectors: Aerospace and defence (via Wright-Patterson Air Force Base proximity), manufacturing, consulting, and technology services
  • OPT and Post-Study Work: All F-1 graduates qualify for 12 months of OPT; STEM programmes add 24 months for a total 36-month post-study work window
  • Career Services: UD Career Services offers 1-on-1 coaching, resume clinics tailored to international students, and on-campus recruiting events each semester

Insider note: Dayton’s location near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base creates a distinct recruiter pipeline for engineering and cybersecurity graduates, though most defence roles require US citizenship. Indian graduates tend to place through Cincinnati, Columbus, and Indianapolis tech employers.

University of Dayton vs Peer Universities

University of Dayton competes with mid-tier Catholic research universities and Midwest private institutions on cost, community, and STEM-designated graduate options.

UniversityUS News National 2025Avg Annual PG Fee (USD)Avg Annual PG Fee (INR lakh)Differentiator
University of Dayton#133 (estimated)26,870 to 36,92025.71 to 35.33 lakhR1 status with Midwest low cost base

Ohio University#189 (estimated)25,000 to 32,000 (estimated)23.92 to 30.62 lakh (estimated)Public university with lower total cost

University of Dayton stands out on the R1 research designation combined with a Midwest cost base and STEM-designated MBA, which few peer Catholic universities of similar size can match. It suits Indian applicants prioritising cost efficiency and OPT eligibility over global brand recognition.

The University of Dayton is a solid fit for Indian STEM and business applicants who value R1 research access and a low Midwest cost base. Total investment of INR 55 to 75 lakh for a 2-year MS is offset by an average MBA salary near INR 77 lakh, and the 3-year STEM OPT window enables full loan repayment for most graduates through a US work stint.

It is a poor fit for applicants chasing top-50 global brand recognition or expecting substantial graduate scholarships upfront, since PG merit aid is limited and QS/THE world visibility is low. Consider Purdue University or Arizona State University if global rank weight and larger Indian alumni networks matter more than cost.

University of Dayton FAQs

Ques. What is the application fee at University of Dayton for Indian applicants?

Ans. The University of Dayton charges an application fee of USD 50 (INR 4,785) for both undergraduate and graduate international applicants. The fee is paid online through the application portal using an international credit or debit card. Fee waivers are not typically offered to international applicants, though partner-country recruitment events occasionally provide promotional waiver codes; check the international admissions page before you file.

Ques. Does the University of Dayton offer GRE or GMAT waivers to Indian applicants?

Ans. Yes, the MBA programme grants an automatic GMAT or GRE waiver to applicants holding a bachelor’s degree in STEM, Business, Economics, or Mathematics with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Many MS programmes have also moved to test-optional status, though a strong GRE score can strengthen assistantship applications. Confirm the current waiver criteria for your specific programme on the graduate admissions FAQ page before applying.

Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at University of Dayton?

Ans. F-1 visa holders can work up to 20 hours per week on campus during semesters and up to 40 hours during official breaks. Off-campus work requires prior authorisation through Curricular Practical Training (CPT) after the first academic year or Optional Practical Training (OPT) after graduation. Common on-campus roles include research assistant, library aide, dining services, and IT helpdesk positions.

Ques. How does University of Dayton evaluate Indian transcripts and credentials?

Ans. Indian applicants must submit a course-by-course evaluation from either World Education Services (WES) or SpanTran. The evaluation must be sent directly to the admissions office by the evaluator and takes 4 to 6 weeks to complete. Applicants should also arrange for official transcripts to be sent from every post-secondary institution attended, along with degree certificates authenticated where required.

Ques. Is there an English proficiency waiver for Indian applicants at University of Dayton?

Ans. The University of Dayton does not grant a blanket Medium of Instruction (MOI) waiver. Applicants seeking to skip IELTS or TOEFL must submit a written waiver proposal with alternate proof of English proficiency and clear a Zoom interview with the admissions committee. Waivers are decided case-by-case; most Indian applicants find it faster to simply take IELTS or the Duolingo English Test.

Ques. Which banks recognise the University of Dayton for education loans in India?

Ans. SBI, HDFC Credila, Avanse, Auxilo, ICICI Bank, and Prodigy Finance regularly fund admitted University of Dayton students for graduate and undergraduate programmes. Public banks like SBI require collateral for loan amounts above INR 40 lakh, while HDFC Credila and Avanse offer unsecured loans up to INR 60 lakh for STEM applicants. Prodigy Finance provides no-collateral USD loans repaid post-study using US earnings.

Ques. How long does the OPT work permit last for STEM graduates at UD?

This applies to MS Computer Science, MS Business Analytics, MS Mechanical Engineering, the STEM-designated MBA, and other qualifying programmes. Employer must be enrolled in E-Verify for the extension to be granted by USCIS.

Ques. What documents do Indian applicants need for the F-1 visa after UD admission?

Ans. Indian applicants need the I-20 issued by University of Dayton, DS-160 confirmation, SEVIS fee receipt (USD 350), visa fee receipt (USD 185), passport valid for 6 months beyond stay, admission letter, financial proof covering the first year of study, academic transcripts, and test scores. Book the visa interview at Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, or Hyderabad consulates as soon as the I-20 arrives.

  • Many events are happening every week, and it depends on your involvement whether you participate. The university takes great care of its international students and offers various extracurricular activities. It's a well-equipped institution, with plenty of facilities for sports and at least two or three libraries available for students.

Fees

  • It cost me almost 35000 dollars in total course

Overview

I have submitted a CV, SOP,3 LORs. in the SOP I have mentioned how interested I am in the university and also how I am a perfect choice for the masters degree at university of Dayton and in the CV. I have shown my technical knowledge by mentioning all my technical projects and also all the certifications that I have done in my bachelors. I’d say it’s good. When compare to other universities that tuition fees, low and also the accommodation near university of Dayton is cheap. If the student really works hard during the Masters then I would really say that they definitely gonna get a job.

As it snow even during spring, it doesn’t have a lot of activities during the winter but there will be a lot of events that used to be going on in the fall. In fact, there will be at least one event every day in the fall semester in which every student can take part in And also when coming to the infrastructure of Dayton I personally think that the infrastructure is really great. We also have one of the largest libraries which is 24 hours open. all the classrooms are well equipped. we also have a lot of clubs where students can meet and have some fun plays pool, bowling, swimming, rock, climbing, football and a lot of other sports. University of Dayton has the largest university housing So most of the students generally stay in the university, housing and also it’s mandatory for the master students to take one semester, mandatory university housing.

Overview

I was attracted to the University of Dayton based on both its academic reputation as well as knowing several others from my high school whom I respected attending here ahead of me. I have found opportunities for personal growth and development not only academically, but also to expand beyond the classroom knowledge. Most of my professors in my major have real-world experience outside of academia and it shows. The professor for the capstone class in my major was instrumental in guiding me to an internship this past summer which greatly expanded my professional experience

Fees

$35000 is the tuition fee I pay.

Overview

I loved the campus, class size, community. Everything was just perfect from my first visit until graduation. It was also close to home, but far enough that my parents wouldn't stop by too much. There's just a sense of home at UD.

Fees

Not sure. I was fortunate enough to have help from my parents for the cost of living and classes throughout my schooling.
