University of Denver offers 500+ scholarships, of which 12+ are accessible to Indian applicants.
Merit awards range from USD 5,000 up to USD 60,000 per year, translating to INR 4.72 Lakhs through INR 56.70 Lakhs annually. Add a graduate assistantship and total savings on an MBA can cross USD 75,000 (INR 70.87 Lakhs).
- Standard MBA tuition at Daniels College (2026-27): USD 68,000+ per year, or INR 64.26+ Lakhs.
- With top-tier merit waiver (USD 60,000): Net tuition drops to about USD 8,000, or INR 7.56 Lakhs.
- With merit plus graduate assistantship: Combined savings reach USD 75,000, or INR 70.87 Lakhs, and cover a monthly stipend.
- Next Daniels priority deadline: Tentative January 15, 2027 for the Fall 2027 intake.
Currency Note: All INR conversions use the live rate of 1 USD = INR 94.5 as of September 2026. A merit "waiver" here means a tuition scholarship credited on the fee bill each quarter, not a cash transfer.

University of Denver Scholarships for UG Students
DU auto-considers every admitted first-year Indian applicant for merit funding. No separate scholarship form is required at the undergraduate level.
| Scholarship | Amount (per year) | Eligibility | How to Apply |
|---|---|---|---|
| First-Year Merit Scholarship | USD 15,000 to USD 40,000 (INR 14.17 to INR 37.80 Lakhs) | Admitted first-year international applicant with strong academic credentials | Automatic on admission review |
| Early Decision Bonus | USD 5,000 (INR 4.72 Lakhs) | Apply through Early Decision; excludes athletic and music-major admits | Submit ED application by deadline |
| Residence Hall Grant | USD 3,000 (INR 2.83 Lakhs) | Merit-scholarship holders in approved on-campus housing | Confirm on-campus housing before term start |
| Transfer Merit Scholarship | USD 12,000 to USD 25,000 (INR 11.34 to INR 23.63 Lakhs) | Admitted transfer applicant with strong prior college GPA | Submit transfer application with official transcripts |
| Music Activity Scholarship | Varies by audition | Admitted student pursuing music courses at Lamont School of Music | Submit audition to Lamont |
The top-band first-year merit award of USD 40,000 is the single largest recurring scholarship an Indian undergraduate can secure at DU. Stack it with the Early Decision Bonus and Residence Hall Grant, and one year of funding reaches USD 48,000 (INR 45.36 Lakhs).
Renewability matters. Merit funding is fixed for four years as long as the student stays full-time and meets satisfactory academic progress. That means the same USD 40,000 award repeats every year, totalling USD 160,000 (INR 151.20 Lakhs) across the degree.
University of Denver Scholarships for PG / Master’s Students
Graduate scholarships at DU are decided by the specific school. Daniels College of Business, Korbel School and Ritchie School each run separate merit pools with distinct amount ranges.
| Scholarship | Amount | Eligibility | How to Apply |
|---|---|---|---|
| Denver MBA Merit Scholarship | USD 10,000 to USD 60,000 (INR 9.45 to INR 56.70 Lakhs) total award | Admitted MBA applicant with strong academic and work profile | Automatic on MBA admission review |
| Daniels Specialized Masters Merit | USD 5,000 to USD 24,000 (INR 4.72 to INR 22.68 Lakhs) total award | Admitted MS applicant in Finance, Business Analytics, Accountancy, Marketing or Real Estate | Automatic on MS admission review |
| Daniels Employer Sponsorship Match | Up to USD 10,000 (INR 9.45 Lakhs), one-time | Applicant whose employer sponsors part of the tuition | Flag sponsorship inside application portal before admission decision |
| Daniels Graduate Assistantship | USD 15,000+ value (INR 14.17+ Lakhs) plus a three-credit tuition waiver each quarter | Admitted MBA or MS student with strong academic and professional profile | Automatic consideration; strong candidates matched by department |
| Korbel Merit Scholarship | Typically 50% tuition, about INR 14 Lakhs annually at the 2026-27 credit rate | Any admitted Korbel graduate applicant, including Indians | Apply by the Korbel priority deadline for automatic review |
Reddit Insight: Daniels reports 80%+ of admitted graduate students receive merit awards. An Indian MBA applicant with a 700+ GMAT and three years of relevant work should treat scholarship money as a baseline, not a stretch.
The Korbel School is the most predictable large-award school for Indians. Roughly 90% of applicants who submit by the Korbel priority deadline receive some merit funding, per DU’s Korbel admissions page.
The Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science is the outlier. It does not offer merit scholarships to international graduate applicants. Funding at Ritchie comes only through Graduate Teaching or Graduate Research Assistantships, which are competitive and department-decided.
- Daniels merit pool: Deep award ranges with a high hit rate above 80% for admitted students.
- Korbel merit pool: Around 90% of priority-deadline applicants receive some merit funding.
- Ritchie merit pool: No merit scholarships; international funding comes through assistantships alone.
India-Specific Scholarships at University of Denver
DU does not run a named India-only scholarship the way some UK universities do. What it does run is a country-neutral merit engine that treats Indian applicants under the same automatic review as every other admitted student.
| Award | Value | India-Specific Eligibility | How to Apply |
|---|---|---|---|
| Merit Auto-Consideration (UG and PG) | USD 5,000 to USD 60,000 per year (INR 4.72 to INR 56.70 Lakhs) | Indian passport holder admitted to any DU programme | Just submit the admission application by the priority date |
| Application Fee Waiver | USD 65 saved (INR 6,143) | Indian applicants nominated through DU regional partners or select college fairs in India | Request the waiver code from your DU regional recruiter before submitting |
| Fulbright Fee Waiver | USD 65 application-fee waiver (INR 6,143) | Indian Fulbright finalists and semi-finalists | Share Fulbright status letter with DU admissions before applying |
Indian applicants should treat DU as merit-first. Grades, standardised test scores and quality of essays decide the scholarship dollar amount, not nationality.
WES or ECE credential evaluation of the Indian transcript matters here. A clean evaluation showing a strong first-class equivalent CGPA is what lifts an application into the higher merit tier.
University of Denver PhD Scholarships
Indian PhD applicants at DU typically receive a full funding package. The package combines a tuition waiver with a monthly stipend, structured through the Graduate Teaching Assistantship or Graduate Research Assistantship route.
| Award | Value | Eligibility | How to Apply |
|---|---|---|---|
| Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA) | Full tuition waiver plus monthly stipend | Admitted PhD applicant with strong academic profile and teaching interest | Indicate GTA interest in application; decisions made at the department level |
| Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) | Full tuition waiver plus monthly stipend, funded by a faculty grant | Admitted PhD applicant matched to a funded faculty project | Contact potential advisors early; some GRAs are offered inside the admit letter |
| Graduate Studies Doctoral Fellowship | USD 1,000 to USD 5,000 per year (INR 94,500 to INR 4.72 Lakhs) | PhD student enrolled in eight or more credits per term | Awarded through department nomination |
| Health Insurance Scholarship | Full DU student health insurance premium | PhD student on a qualifying GTA or GRA appointment | Attached automatically to the assistantship offer |
Indian PhD candidates in International Studies, Social Work and Psychology often see the fastest funding decisions. Those three departments carry DU’s strongest external rankings and the deepest research grant pool.
External Government Scholarships for University of Denver Applicants
External funding is where Indian DU applicants add the second dollar layer. These awards are decided outside DU but are accepted alongside a DU merit scholarship.
| Scholarship | Value | Indian Applicant Eligibility | Next Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowship (USIEF) | Full tuition, J-1 visa support, round-trip economy airfare, monthly stipend and health insurance | Indian citizen, minimum 55% in undergraduate degree, three years relevant work experience, no prior US degree | Tentative May 14, 2027 (annual cycle for the 2028-29 intake) |
| Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation Scholarship | Up to USD 120,000 total (INR 113.40 Lakhs), covering tuition, living, one-way travel, visa and health | Indian passport holder resident in India, born on or after January 1, 1994, admitted to a Korbel humanities or social-science programme (engineering, CS and MBA are not covered) | Tentative March 31, 2027 |
| JN Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship | Gift component up to INR 10 Lakhs plus interest-free loan up to INR 10 Lakhs | Indian citizen holding a first-class Bachelor’s degree, admitted to any DU graduate programme | Tentative March 26, 2027 |
| KC Mahindra Scholarship for Post-Graduate Studies Abroad | Up to INR 8 Lakhs for top awardees; standard grants INR 2 to 4 Lakhs | Indian citizen with confirmed DU admission, minimum first-class Bachelor’s | Tentative March 31, 2027 |
| Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship | 50% grant plus 50% interest-free loan, covering tuition and living | Indian citizen from an eligible Aga Khan Foundation community, admitted to a DU Master’s programme | Tentative March 31, 2027 |
Reddit Insight: Indian DU admits routinely stack a Daniels merit waiver of USD 20,000 to USD 40,000 with a JN Tata loan of INR 10 Lakhs. The combination cuts the two-year MBA outflow to under INR 30 Lakhs of family cash before living costs.

University of Denver Scholarships: Frequently Asked Questions
Ques. What is the maximum funding an Indian MBA student can stack at University of Denver?
Ans. An Indian MBA admit can stack the USD 60,000 Denver MBA Merit Scholarship (INR 56.70 Lakhs) with a Daniels Graduate Assistantship worth USD 15,000+. The assistantship also waives three credits of tuition each quarter. Add a JN Tata loan-scholarship of INR 10 Lakhs and total two-year support crosses USD 85,000, or roughly INR 80 Lakhs.
Ques. When should Indian applicants apply to University of Denver to maximise scholarship chances?
Ans. Apply by the priority deadline of each school; for Daniels MBA and MS programmes this is tentatively January 15, 2027 for Fall 2027 entry. Korbel School priority is tentatively January 15, 2027 too. Applications submitted after priority dates enter a smaller residual scholarship pool.
Ques. Do Indian applicants need a separate scholarship application at University of Denver?
Ans. No separate form is required for any DU merit scholarship, at either undergraduate or graduate level. The admission application itself triggers automatic scholarship review, and the merit dollar amount is included inside the offer letter.
Ques. What academic profile does University of Denver expect for a top-tier merit scholarship?
Ans. A top-tier UG merit award of USD 40,000 usually goes to Indian applicants with a Class 12 score of 90%+ and SAT above 1400. At Daniels MBA, a maximum merit award of USD 60,000 typically maps to a 700+ GMAT and three years of quantitative work experience.
Ques. What is the largest single scholarship an Indian applicant can win at University of Denver?
Ans. The Denver MBA Merit Scholarship at USD 60,000 total (INR 56.70 Lakhs) is the largest single institutional award. Above that sits the external Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowship, which covers tuition, airfare, health insurance and a living stipend for the full Master’s duration.
Ques. Does a University of Denver merit scholarship cover living costs in Denver?
Ans. No, DU merit scholarships apply to tuition only. Estimated annual living expenses in Denver run USD 18,000 to USD 22,000 (INR 17.01 to INR 20.79 Lakhs). Students cover this through savings, family, an education loan or an assistantship stipend.

Scholarship
I have had to apply through private scholarship or loans. For financial aid through the university, I just had to do a FAFSA and CSS and provide copies of mine and my parent's tax returns/w-2s.
I chose to go to the DU because of the amazing and financially supportive study abroad program. I also came for the warmth and the sunshine. I loved the campus when I visited and met with some students who talked about how fantastic DU was and how rarely they felt homesick.
Financial aid was better compared to other schools I applied to. The location was also great. They also seemed to have a great English program. I also knew people from high school that was attending.
