The University of Denver maintains a moderately selective admissions posture. The most recent published institutional acceptance rate sits at 71%, drawn from the full undergraduate applicant pool.

Note: The 71% institutional figure reflects the full undergraduate applicant pool. Indian applicants competing for MS Finance or MBA seats should benchmark their profile against a tighter Daniels admit band rather than the headline number.

University of Denver Campus, Facilities and Student Life

The 125-acre residential campus sits in the University Park neighbourhood about seven miles south of downtown Denver. Direct light rail access connects the campus to the city centre and Denver International Airport.

  • Location and transport: Green Line light rail links the campus to downtown Denver and the airport; walkable neighbourhood with grocery, dining and pharmacies within 10 minutes
  • Housing: Guaranteed on-campus housing for first-year undergraduates; graduate students typically rent nearby private accommodation from $700 per shared bed
  • Facilities: The Anderson Academic Commons library, Coors Fitness Center and Ricketson Law Building anchor daily campus life; six research institutes operate under the R1 designation
  • Indian community: The South Asian Students Association and Indian Graduate Students Association host regular Diwali and Holi programming; the greater Denver metro is home to more than 40,000 residents of Indian origin.

What Indian students say: The campus feels compact and easy to navigate, and Denver’s outdoor culture makes weekends accessible without a car. Indian food and grocery options in south Denver are limited compared to larger US metros, so many students plan monthly Costco runs.

FAQs

Ques. Does the University of Denver require GRE for MS admissions?

Ans. The University of Denver treats GRE scores as optional for most MS programmes at the Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science, including MS Data Science, MS Cybersecurity and MS Computer Science. Indian applicants with strong undergraduate performance and relevant work experience typically apply without a GRE score. The Daniels College of Business similarly makes GMAT and GRE optional for the Full-Time MBA and MS Finance.

Ques. What is the minimum IELTS score for University of Denver graduate programs?

Ans. The University of Denver requires a minimum IELTS Academic overall band of 6.5 for all graduate programmes, with no individual band minimum published at the institutional level. Programme-specific expectations at Daniels and Korbel may set higher targets. Indian applicants can substitute TOEFL iBT 80 on the 0-120 legacy scale, TOEFL iBT 4.0 on the 1-6 band scale for exams from 21 January 2026, or Duolingo English Test 115.

Ques. How much does the international application fee cost at University of Denver?

Ans. The University of Denver charges a nonrefundable third-party credential evaluation fee of $50 (approximately ₹4,790) for international transcripts. This is in addition to the standard graduate application fee, which varies by programme. Payment is due at application submission through the online graduate application portal. The credential evaluation typically takes two to three weeks, so Indian applicants should factor this into their deadline planning.

Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at University of Denver?

Ans. Yes. F-1 visa regulations permit Indian nationals and other international students to work up to 20 hours per week on campus during the academic year. Students may work up to 40 hours per week during official university breaks. The University of Denver’s on-campus employers include the library, Coors Fitness Center and departmental research assistantships. Off-campus employment requires Curricular Practical Training authorisation from the international student office.

Ques. Does DU accept 3-year Indian bachelor degrees for graduate admission?

Ans. DU generally requires the equivalent of a four-year US bachelor’s degree for direct graduate admission. That typically means an Indian three-year bachelor’s plus a master’s or postgraduate diploma. Applicants with a three-year BCom, BSc or BA and no additional qualification are usually asked to complete a bridge programme or an accredited master’s before applying. The WES evaluation confirms exact degree equivalency.

Ques. What is the credential evaluation process for Indian transcripts at University of Denver?

Ans. Indian applicants must submit their bachelor’s transcripts to an approved third-party credential evaluator such as World Education Services or Educational Credential Evaluators. The University of Denver charges a $50 evaluation fee (approximately ₹4,790), and the process takes two to three weeks. The evaluator converts the Indian CGPA or percentage into US GPA and confirms degree equivalency. Results are sent directly to the graduate admissions office.

Overview

I chose to go to the DU because of the amazing and financially supportive study abroad program. I also came for the warmth and the sunshine. I loved the campus when I visited and met with some students who talked about how fantastic DU was and how rarely they felt homesick.

Fees

The school is very expensive (70,000 a year with fees, tuition, and board). However, financial aid has been very supportive of my personal financial issues. Therefore, I've gotten a lot of scholarship and grant.

Overview

Financial aid was better compared to other schools I applied to. The location was also great. They also seemed to have a great English program. I also knew people from high school that was attending.

Fees

DU was very expensive but also granted good financial aid. You had to apply every year for it, from FAFSA.
