University of Denver Admission 2027
University of Denver runs four intakes each year on a quarter calendar, but Fall (September) is the primary entry point for Indian graduate applicants. Most programmes review applications on a rolling basis after a priority deadline.
University of Denver Admission Dates for PG Applicants 2027
Individual DU programmes publish their own deadlines. The table below captures the general Fall 2027 cycle pattern derived from prior cycles.
| Milestone | Date | Notes for Indian Applicants |
|---|---|---|
| Application opens (Fall 2027) | Expected September 2026 (based on prior cycles) | Rolling review begins on first business day after opening |
| Programme priority deadline | Varies by programme; typically December 2026 to April 2027; verify at DU official page | Daniels MBA priority is usually January; Ritchie MS often runs to June |
| Credential verification (WES or ECE) | Start 4 weeks before your programme deadline | ECE charges a $50 (₹4,784) non-refundable evaluation fee |
| Fall programme start | September 2027 | Fall quarter orientation for international students precedes classes |
Planning note: Apply by the priority deadline even when the programme has rolling review, because merit scholarship pools shrink as later applicants are admitted.

University of Denver Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
DU applies uniform baseline admission requirements across most graduate programmes, with individual departments layering programme-specific criteria on top.
University of Denver PG Admission Requirements 2027
- Bachelor’s degree: Four-year bachelor’s from a recognised Indian university with 55% or CGPA 5.5/10 minimum (recommended); Daniels MBA and MS Finance prefer 60% or CGPA 6/10
- English proficiency: TOEFL iBT 80 (0-120 legacy scale) or 4.0 (1-6 scale for exams from 21 January 2026), IELTS 6.5, Duolingo English Test 115, or Cambridge C1 Advanced 169
- Credential evaluation: Course-by-course transcript evaluation from ECE ($50 or ₹4,784, three-week turnaround) or WES
- Programme-specific: GRE for most Ritchie MS programmes (waivers possible), GMAT or GRE for Daniels MBA (waivers for strong profiles), LSAT for the Sturm JD
University of Denver UG Admission Requirements 2027
- Class 12: CBSE, ICSE, or state board Class 12 with 70% to 85% (recommended); higher for Daniels and Ritchie
- English proficiency: TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 6.5, or Duolingo 115; SAT/ACT is test-optional
Key insight: DU waives the English test for Indian applicants whose full undergraduate degree was taught in English, but the waiver is granted programme-by-programme and requires an official letter from the Indian university’s Registrar.
University of Denver Acceptance Rate 2027
University of Denver reports an overall acceptance rate of 71%, placing it in the moderately selective bracket for US private universities. The rate reflects undergraduate admissions and does not disaggregate the tougher Daniels MBA or Ritchie MS pools, where Indian applicants face stiffer competition.
| Cohort | Acceptance Rate | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Overall (all applicants) | 71% | Official University of Denver disclosure |
| Graduate (typical range) | 60% to 75% (estimated) | Programme-level estimate |
| Sturm Law JD | 50% to 60% (estimated) | Programme-level estimate |
Selectivity varies sharply across schools. Daniels MBA and MS Finance are competitive, while University College professional MS programmes see higher acceptance rates because of their online delivery.
Reality check: A 71% headline rate does not mean easy admission for an Indian applicant with a 55% aggregate and no test scores; DU still filters heavily on GPA, English proficiency, and programme fit.

University of Denver Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
DU’s Burwell Center for Career Achievement coordinates placement across all schools, with Daniels College of Business and Ritchie Engineering running dedicated employer relations teams.
- Employment rate (Daniels MBA): 85% to 90% within three months of graduation (market median, class-of-2024 basis)
- Median starting salary (MBA): $95,000 to $110,000 (₹90.90 to ₹105.25 Lakh) per year (market median)
- Median starting salary (MS Finance, MS Data Science): $70,000 to $90,000 (₹66.98 to ₹86.11 Lakh) per year (market median)
- OPT eligibility: Most Ritchie and Daniels MS programmes are STEM-designated, unlocking the 24-month OPT extension for a total 36 months of US work authorisation
- Representative recruiters: Charles Schwab, Lockheed Martin, Deloitte, Ball Aerospace, DaVita, Comcast, and Colorado government agencies (recruiter list is sector-representative)
Insider note: Denver’s finance and aerospace clusters absorb many DU graduates locally; Indian students targeting Bay Area or NYC tech roles should treat DU’s career fair as one of several channels and network beyond Colorado.
University of Denver vs Peer Universities
DU is comparable to other private US universities in the R1 doctoral tier that draw Indian applicants for STEM MS and Business programmes. The table below compares DU against three peers on cost, selectivity, and ranking.
| University | QS World Rank 2027 | Collegedunia Study Abroad | Avg Annual PG Tuition (USD) | Avg Annual PG Tuition (INR Lakh) | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| University of Denver | #1001-1200 | #448 | 42,173 | 40.35 Lakh | STEM-designated MS, strong Denver placement pipeline |
| University of Colorado Boulder | Verify at QS | Verify at CD | 36,000 to 42,000 (estimated) | 34.44 to 40.19 Lakh (estimated) | Public research university, lower sticker for equivalent tier |
| Colorado State University | Verify at QS | Verify at CD | 30,000 to 34,000 (estimated) | 28.70 to 32.53 Lakh (estimated) | Strongest for engineering and agriculture, most affordable Colorado option |
| University of Utah | Verify at QS | Verify at CD | 28,000 to 34,000 (estimated) | 26.79 to 32.53 Lakh (estimated) | Public flagship, lower cost with strong CS and business programmes |
DU wins on scholarship generosity for private universities in the region and on the compact 21-month MBA. Public peers win on sticker tuition but often provide smaller merit awards to international students.
University of Denver suits Indian students who want a small-class private US experience with STEM OPT eligibility and predictable merit funding, budgeting a total investment of ₹90 Lakh to ₹1.4 Crore across a two-year MS. Denver’s finance, aerospace, and tech clusters absorb graduates locally, and STEM-designated MS programmes unlock the 36-month OPT window that Indian applicants prize for H-1B lottery attempts.
University of Denver is not the right pick for applicants chasing top-100 QS brand equity or the lowest possible tuition sticker. A candidate optimising on ranking should look at the University of Colorado Boulder public flagship, and a candidate optimising on cost should consider Colorado State University.
University of Denver FAQs
Ques. What English test does University of Denver accept for Indian graduate applicants?
Ans. DU accepts TOEFL iBT with a minimum of 80 on the 0-120 legacy scale or 4.0 on the 1-6 scale for exams from 21 January 2026, IELTS 6.5 overall, Duolingo English Test 115, or Cambridge C1 Advanced 169. Scores are valid for two years from the test date. Some programmes ask for higher minimums, so check the specific programme page.
Ques. Can Indian applicants get a GRE waiver at DU?
Ans. Yes, several Ritchie MS programmes and the Daniels MBA offer GRE or GMAT waivers for candidates with strong undergraduate GPAs, quantitative coursework, or relevant work experience. Waiver requests are filed inside the online application. Approval is not automatic and is programme-specific; MS Finance and MS Data Science are stricter than professional MS tracks at University College.
Ques. Is DU a STEM-designated university for OPT extension?
Ans. Most MS programmes at the Ritchie School of Engineering and several Daniels MS tracks including Business Analytics carry a STEM CIP code, which qualifies Indian graduates for the 24-month OPT extension on top of the standard 12 months. This gives Indian students up to 36 months of US work authorisation to attempt H-1B lottery. Confirm the CIP code on the programme’s admissions page.
Ques. Does University of Denver require APS or credential evaluation for Indian applicants?
Ans. DU does not use the German APS system. Instead, Indian applicants submit a course-by-course credential evaluation from Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) at $50 (₹4,784) with a three-week turnaround, or from WES. The evaluated report is submitted alongside official transcripts. Start the evaluation four weeks before your programme priority deadline to avoid delays.
Ques. How much financial proof does DU require for the I-20?
Ans. DU issues the I-20 only after Indian applicants submit bank statements or a certificate of deposit demonstrating funds covering one full academic year of estimated attendance, typically $65,000 to $85,000 (₹62.20 to ₹81.33 Lakh) for a PG programme. Sponsor affidavits from parents are accepted with matching bank proofs. Fixed deposits and education loan sanction letters from Indian banks are both accepted.
Ques. Can Indian students work part-time at DU during study?
Ans. F-1 visa holders at University of Denver can work up to 20 hours per week on campus during quarters and up to 40 hours per week during university breaks. Off-campus work requires Curricular Practical Training or Optional Practical Training authorisation. On-campus jobs at libraries, dining, and departmental positions typically pay $15 to $18 (₹1,435 to ₹1,722) per hour.
Ques. What Indian scholarships and loans work well for DU?
Ans. Indian public sector banks including SBI, Bank of Baroda, and Canara Bank sanction education loans up to ₹1.5 Crore for DU graduate programmes against collateral. Non-collateral loans from HDFC Credila and Avanse typically cap at ₹40 to ₹60 Lakh for STEM MS. DU merit scholarships of $15,000 to $40,000 (₹14.35 to ₹38.27 Lakh) apply automatically and materially cut loan requirements.
Ques. How does DU compare to CU Boulder for Indian MS applicants?
Ans. DU is a private R1 with smaller class sizes and larger merit scholarships, so the effective net cost often closes the gap with the public CU Boulder. CU Boulder wins on QS ranking and tuition sticker but offers less merit aid to international students. Indian applicants targeting STEM MS with predictable funding often net out at similar cash outlay across both.

Overview
I chose to go to the DU because of the amazing and financially supportive study abroad program. I also came for the warmth and the sunshine. I loved the campus when I visited and met with some students who talked about how fantastic DU was and how rarely they felt homesick.
Fees
The school is very expensive (70,000 a year with fees, tuition, and board). However, financial aid has been very supportive of my personal financial issues. Therefore, I've gotten a lot of scholarship and grant.
Overview
Financial aid was better compared to other schools I applied to. The location was also great. They also seemed to have a great English program. I also knew people from high school that was attending.
Fees
DU was very expensive but also granted good financial aid. You had to apply every year for it, from FAFSA.
