The University of Delhi has launched a virtual learning environment (VLE), a web portal (vle.du.ac.in) to provide required digital support to teachers and students. DU claims to host 1500 e-lessons, 29000 e-quizzes, 20 e-labs and 50 e-lectures. To train the teachers in required information and communication tools (ICT), the portal will also include a section called Institute of Life Long Learning (ILLL)

This online learning portal will offer undergraduate courses, foundation courses and national mission on education courses. This includes social science, humanities, mathematics, commerce and science based courses offered by the varsity as well as short courses including conflict resolution, film studies, theater performance, etc. The courses are available in Hindi as well as English, for the students convenience.

The University states, "It is an innovative and unique initiative taken by the University to provide a taste of the range of opportunities and tools available to students and teachers on a daily basis. This framework will provide a host of collaborative tools based on Web 2.0 to cope with the various needs of the teaching and learning community.”

This is a digital version of various workshops and conferences which were earlier held by DU in physical space as well as through video conferences. The portal will help teachers and heads to adapt themselves to the use of ICT to facilitate teaching and administration. 

VLE is for students and ILLL is for advanced learners who wish to be trained in new-age skills. Due to the pandemic situation, the university is shut but the teaching learning process is at its par digitally. UGC has asked universities to upload their academic content digitally so that students can access it anytime. According to the guidelines, teachers will publish 25% of the syllabus online and the rest will take place in traditional classrooms, even when the institutes reopen.
