HITS Chennai BTech tuition is ₹9.20 lakh for four years based on 2026 course fee information, with ₹2.30 lakh shown for the first year. Hostel payments are additional. These are earlier course references, rather than a confirmed fee offer for a student joining in 2027. The university's 2026–27 handbook allows annual fee revision of 5%–10%, subject to approval.
Fees also depend on the course, room category and study mode. The earlier hostel amounts range from ₹97,500 to ₹1.75 lakh for the room types below. Hindustan Online–CODE has separate fees and semester-payment options. Scholarships are available for academic merit, financial need, sport and several other categories, but the approved award determines the actual concession.
HITS Chennai Fee Structure
The main academic payment is the course fee. Residential students also pay the hostel charge for their allotted room, while students using university transport pay the applicable transport fee. The university collects tuition each year before the odd semester begins. Hostel and transport payments are also due before the new academic year.
The 2026–27 university handbook identifies separate payments for arrear and special examinations, record notebooks, stationery and workshop overalls where needed. The amount due therefore depends on the student's actual course and services. A course reference does not establish a single payment that applies to every student.
| Payment | Period or condition |
|---|---|
| Campus tuition | Payable annually before the odd semester |
| Hostel | Based on allotted room category, before the academic year |
| University transport | Payable before the academic year |
| Arrear and special examinations | Payable with the relevant examination application |
| Record notebooks, stationery and workshop overalls | Payable when obtaining the required items |
| Late fee | Applies when payment is made after the prescribed deadline |
The fee tables below retain the periods given by their sources. The earlier course amounts are useful for comparing courses, while the university's admission demand confirms the payment for a new intake. Scholarships and any revised charges must be reflected in that demand before the payable amount is final.
HITS Chennai BTech Fees
The HITS CSE fee information gives ₹2.30 lakh for the first year and ₹9.20 lakh in total tuition. The same total is shown for several other engineering branches. These figures describe the academic fee before adding accommodation.
| BTech branch | Earlier full-course tuition reference | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Computer Science and Engineering | ₹9,20,000 | 4 years |
| Aeronautical Engineering | ₹9,20,000 | 4 years |
| Aerospace Engineering | ₹9,20,000 | 4 years |
| Information Technology | ₹9,20,000 | 4 years |
| Electronics and Communication Engineering | ₹9,20,000 | 4 years |
| Mechanical Engineering | ₹9,20,000 | 4 years |
| Civil Engineering | ₹9,20,000 | 4 years |
| Mechatronics | ₹9,20,000 | 4 years |
BTech CSE Fees for Four Years
At the earlier ₹2.30 lakh yearly tuition, four payments add up to ₹2,30,000 × 4 = ₹9,20,000. A first-year hostel payment would be added to the first year's tuition, not to every year's tuition as a one-time academic charge.
For a new intake, the handbook's provision for annual revision matters. It does not announce that every course will rise by the same percentage each year. The Finance Committee and Executive Council must approve the applicable revision. A four-year estimate using unchanged tuition should therefore remain separate from a university-confirmed total.
BTech Lateral-Entry Fees
The CSE lateral-entry fee page gives ₹6.90 lakh in tuition for the remaining three years. Its first-year tuition reference is ₹2.30 lakh. This is a shorter course period than the regular four-year degree.
At that rate, three tuition payments are ₹6.90 lakh, compared with ₹9.20 lakh for four payments. The difference is ₹2.30 lakh. It comes from one fewer study year and does not represent a scholarship or fee waiver. Hostel payments depend on the number of years spent in university accommodation.
Design, Law and Other Campus Course Fees
Earlier course fee information lists ₹9.72 lakh for the four-year BDes and ₹5.61 lakh for the three-year LLB. These are full-course references before hostel payments. The shorter LLB is a graduate-entry course; its fee should not be used as the total for the five-year BA LLB or BBA LLB.
| Course | Earlier full-course fee reference | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| BDes | ₹9,72,000 | Four-year course information |
| LLB | ₹5,61,000 | Three-year graduate-entry law course |
| MTech | ₹2,13,000–₹2,50,000 | Two-year course; varies by specialisation |
A longer course can have a higher full-course fee even when its yearly payment is similar. For example, the ₹9.72 lakh BDes reference covers four years, while the LLB amount covers three. Dividing either total by the course duration gives an average, but does not establish the amount due in each individual year.
The HITS courses and fees page contains a wider course catalogue. Campus BBA, BCA and MBA fees need a course-specific university statement before payment, particularly when a search result also includes Hindustan's online degrees. The online amounts later in this guide apply only to CODE.
MTech Fees and Specialisations
The MTech course page labels its ₹2.13 lakh–₹2.50 lakh range as 2025–26 fees. Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Aircraft Maintenance Engineering are shown at ₹2.50 lakh for the two-year course.
The lower and upper amounts belong to different fee combinations. An additional charge shown for one specialisation cannot be added to every other specialisation's total. The selected branch and the admission-year fee statement determine the instalments due. Hostel accommodation remains a separate payment for postgraduate students too.
HITS Chennai Hostel and Mess Fees
The earlier HITS hostel fee details give the following amounts per student. They include accommodation, mess, water, laundry, housekeeping and electricity for an 11-month period. They are references for the specified room categories, not guaranteed 2027 room quotations.
| Hostel | Room category | Earlier fee per student |
|---|---|---|
| Boys | Triple bed, common bathroom | ₹1,02,000 |
| Boys | AC deluxe, attached bathroom | ₹1,75,000 |
| Girls | Dormitory, common bathroom | ₹97,500 |
| Girls | Dormitory, attached bathroom | ₹1,05,000 |
| Girls | Triple bed, attached bathroom | ₹1,12,000 |
| Girls | Double bed, attached bathroom | ₹1,18,000 |
The earlier fee details also specify ₹1,500 in registration and establishment charges for students rejoining the hostel. The 2026–27 handbook requires residents to pay for the allotted room before the academic year. Room allotment depends on availability under the university hostel rules.
First-Year BTech Tuition With Hostel
Using the earlier ₹2.30 lakh tuition and the room amounts above, a boys' triple-sharing example is ₹2,30,000 + ₹1,02,000 = ₹3,32,000. With an AC deluxe room, the corresponding amount is ₹4.05 lakh. The difference between those two residential examples is ₹73,000.
| First-year example | Tuition plus earlier hostel charge |
|---|---|
| BTech with boys' triple-sharing room | ₹3,32,000 |
| BTech with boys' AC deluxe room | ₹4,05,000 |
| BTech with girls' common-bath dormitory | ₹3,27,500 |
| BTech with girls' attached-bath double room | ₹3,48,000 |
These calculations combine tuition and the stated residential package only. Any revised fee, admission charge or other payment in the student's offer is additional. Mess is already included in the hostel references used here and has not been added a second time.
Hindustan Online–CODE Fees
Hindustan Online–CODE publishes separate annual and semester course fees. The online BBA page gives ₹39,000 a year for BBA Logistics Management. The online BCA page gives the same annual rate for its Database Management Systems, Data Analytics, and Multimedia and Animation options.
| Online course | Annual course fee | Semester option | Course-fee total at these rates |
|---|---|---|---|
| BBA Logistics Management | ₹39,000 | ₹19,500 | ₹1,17,000 over 3 years |
| BCA: stated computing options | ₹39,000 | ₹19,500 | ₹1,17,000 over 3 years |
| MCA | ₹50,000 | ₹25,000 | ₹1,00,000 over 2 years |
The BBA and BCA totals use six semester payments of ₹19,500. MCA uses four payments of ₹25,000. Choosing the semester option changes the timing of payment; the stated course-fee total is the same as the annual option. These totals exclude the separate application payment.
Application and Examination Payments for Online Courses
CODE's course pages specify an application fee of ₹1,000 plus applicable bank charges. The MCA page also states an annual examination fee of ₹3,000. On that basis, two years of MCA course and examination fees, plus one application payment, come to ₹1,07,000 before bank charges: ₹1,00,000 + ₹6,000 + ₹1,000.
The BBA and BCA pages contain different statements about whether the first examination attempt is included. Their payable examination amount needs confirmation from CODE, so the table gives course fees only. For online MBA, the university's fee table and FAQ also quote different amounts. A current written fee statement is needed for that course.
HITS Scholarships and Fee Concessions
HITS offers several management scholarships. The university scholarship page identifies the groups that may apply, while the award approval determines the amount. A scholarship name alone does not establish a fixed percentage for every eligible student.
| Scholarship | Students considered |
|---|---|
| Dr K.C.G. Verghese Memorial Scholarship | Class 12 school toppers; PCM marks for engineering and overall marks for other streams |
| Dr Elizabeth Verghese Girl Empowerment Scholarship | Girls with strong academic performance or financial need |
| HITSEEE/HITSCAT Scholarship | Entrance-test rank holders within ranks 1–100 |
| Wright Brothers Scholarship | Aeronautical or Aerospace students with exceptional academic work or projects |
| Alumni and HP3 MoU Scholarship | Eligible HGI alumni, alumni siblings and students from partner schools |
| Sports Scholarship | Students meeting trial, performance or university conditions |
| Economically Weaker Section Scholarship | Students from financially weaker backgrounds or eligible SC/ST categories |
The university also identifies support for students with disabilities, local-community students, eligible defence families and children or siblings of Hindustan Group staff. Selection and approval apply to these awards. Applicants can submit their case to the university Scholarship Office with the records relevant to their claim.
The 2026–27 handbook also describes Fund Your Fellow, an alumni-supported scholarship for students from financially weaker backgrounds. It helps with tuition, books and other academic needs. This support is considered separately from an entrance scholarship.
Scholarship Approval and Payment
A student's approved award should state the fee concession and the period it covers. A tuition waiver should be reflected against tuition in the student's account. Hostel and other payments should remain at the applicable rate unless the award expressly includes them. The first-year award does not, by itself, confirm the amount available in later years.
HITS's Scholarship Office also helps students find eligible government and external schemes. Those schemes have their own application, income, category and course conditions. University admission alone does not establish eligibility for every scholarship mentioned on the university website.
Fee Payment at HITS Chennai
The university provides separate links for tuition, hostel and transport through its online fee-payment page. The 2026–27 handbook permits payment through ERP using cards, net banking, UPI and supported wallets. It also allows a demand draft submitted to the Accounts Department in favour of Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science, payable at Chennai.
The fee must reach the university within the prescribed period. A receipt should identify the student and payment made, especially when tuition and accommodation are paid separately. Late payment can attract a late fee. The admission offer and ERP account provide the amount due after any approved scholarship or concession.
The HITS Chennai admission guide explains course qualifications, entrance examinations and application steps.
