Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology admits BE and BTech students through SAEEE, followed by the university's selection and counselling process. Engineering applicants generally need 50% in the required Class 12 subject group, or 45% for the reserved category covered by the rules. Architecture, dental, law, nursing and other degrees have their own qualification and selection requirements.

The university's course and eligibility pages currently describe the 2026–27 academic year. A complete 2027 entrance and application calendar is awaited. The requirements below relate to the Chennai institution and the specified mode of study; the online centre uses a separate application and fee process.

Sathyabama Admission and SAEEE

Engineering applicants register for the Sathyabama All India Entrance Examination and provide their school and personal details. They must meet the qualification for the branch they choose. After the entrance process, the university communicates counselling, branch allotment, document verification and the payment needed to accept the seat.

The university's admission information directs students to its official application links. Dates from the 2026 examination should not be used as 2027 deadlines. Students seeking the next intake need the new SAEEE announcement and the corresponding registration account.

Subjects Used for Engineering Eligibility

The minimum aggregate is calculated using the subjects required for that branch. The university accepts several third-subject options for computing and electronics programmes, but some other engineering branches require the conventional Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combination.

Subjects Used for Engineering Eligibility
Engineering group Required Class 12 subjects Minimum aggregate
CSE and its listed specialisations, IT, AI and Data Science, ECE and EEE Physics and Mathematics with an accepted third subject 50%; 45% for the stated reserved category
Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aeronautical, Civil and Chemical Engineering Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics 50%; 45% for the stated reserved category
Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology/Biotechnology 50%; 45% for the stated reserved category

Accepted third subjects for the relevant computing group include Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, IT, Biology, Informatics Practices and Biotechnology. Physics and Mathematics remain compulsory in that group. A Biology subject can serve as the permitted third subject there only when the student also has the two compulsory subjects.

BE and BTech Course Choices

Computing, Electronics and Core Engineering

Sathyabama offers regular CSE and named specialisations in AI, Internet of Things, Data Science, AI and Robotics, AI and Machine Learning, Blockchain Technology and Cyber Security. Computer Science and Business Systems is listed as a separate engineering option. The application should identify the preferred course and specialisation.

The university also offers Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical, Automobile, Mechatronics, Aeronautical and Civil Engineering, together with BTech IT and Chemical Engineering. Their degree titles and subject conditions should be checked before branch preferences are submitted.

Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering

Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering allow the specified Mathematics, Biology or Biotechnology combination with Physics and Chemistry. Eligible Biology students can therefore consider these programmes under their branch-specific rules. They should enter their actual school subjects and marks in the application rather than use an unrelated three-subject average.

The full-time undergraduate engineering programmes normally have four years of study in the course list. Part-time engineering options are separately listed by the university and have their own admission conditions. The regular SAEEE application should not be treated as a complete statement of admission to every part-time programme.

Architecture and Design Admission

BArch requires the relevant Science and Mathematics qualification with 50% and a valid NATA score under the university's architecture rules. It is a five-year programme. Students must meet both the academic qualification and the accepted architecture aptitude requirement.

BDes requires Class 12 with 50%, or 45% for the reserved category stated by the university, and lasts four years. The BDes requirement differs from BArch because NATA is an architecture-specific condition. Applicants should follow the selection instructions for their chosen design or architecture degree.

Arts, Commerce and Computer Application Admission

BBA, BCom and Humanities

BBA, BA English and Bachelor of Social Work require a Class 12 pass with 50% aggregate in three subjects, or 45% for the stated reserved category. The university lists three-year durations for these options, with an honours option where specifically marked in the course information.

BCom and BCom Financial Accounting require Accountancy and Commerce among the Class 12 subjects, with the same stated 50% or 45% three-subject aggregate. The Commerce subject requirement must be met even when the applicant has the percentage needed for an any-stream programme such as BBA.

BCA and Computing Science Courses

BCA and the listed BSc Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Science with AI, Data Science and IT courses fall under the Mathematics-based eligibility group. The university requires Mathematics in Class 12 and 50% in the relevant three-subject aggregate, or 45% for the reserved category stated on its page.

The integrated MSc Computer Science option is listed with a five-year duration. Students applying after Class 12 should distinguish it from the two-year postgraduate MSc Computer Science programme, which requires an earlier degree. The application level and duration determine which qualification records are needed.

Science, Allied Health and Psychology Admission

Physical and Life Sciences

BSc Physics requires Mathematics and Physics in Class 12, while BSc Chemistry requires Mathematics and Chemistry. Biotechnology, Microbiology and Biochemistry require Biology. Bioinformatics and Data Science accepts Biology or Mathematics under its stated subject condition.

The minimum for these groups is generally 50% in the required three-subject aggregate, or 45% for the stated reserved category. Students should use the exact subject requirement because the words Data Science appear in programmes with different school backgrounds.

Newer Allied-Health Degree Titles

Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science requires Class 12 Physics, Chemistry and Biology and is listed as a four-year programme. Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) also requires PCB, with 50% and a pass in English. These current degree names should be used when selecting the course.

Bachelor of Psychology accepts Class 12 Science, Arts or Psychology with 50%. The university states that admission is through its entrance test and gives a four-year duration. This programme should not be treated as identical to an older three-year BSc Psychology listing when checking the offer.

Pharmacy, Nursing and Physiotherapy Admission

BPharm requires Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology, with 50%, or 45% for the stated reserved category. The university lists a four-year BPharm and six-year PharmD. Their entry and professional requirements should be checked against the chosen degree.

BSc Nursing requires Class 12 Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 50% and lasts four years. BPT requires PCB with 50% aggregate and a pass in English, with the stated 45% reserved-category provision. The current undergraduate eligibility page gives a five-year BPT duration.

The university also offers BDS. Dental admission follows the applicable NEET and professional counselling requirements, rather than the undergraduate engineering selection process. Applicants need the relevant entrance result and documents for that course.

Law and Teacher-Education Admission

Integrated Law and Graduate LLB

The five-year BA LLB, BBA LLB and BCom LLB honours programmes are available after Class 12. The current undergraduate eligibility table groups them under the 50% three-subject aggregate condition, with 45% for the stated reserved category.

The three-year LLB instead requires a recognised undergraduate degree under a 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 pattern, with 50%, or 45% for the stated reserved category. Students applying after graduation should choose this degree rather than assume the five-year integrated-law form is the only law option.

Integrated BA BEd and BSc BEd

BA BEd requires the stated Class 12 qualification with 50% in the required aggregate, or 45% for the reserved category. BSc BEd requires Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Computer Science under the university's subject conditions. Both courses have a four-year duration.

These programmes combine the subject degree and teacher education. Applicants should select the Arts or Science option that matches their school background and follow the programme's application instructions.

Postgraduate and Online Admission

Campus Postgraduate Courses

The 2026–27 postgraduate list includes ME CSE, Applied Electronics, Computer Aided Design, Structural Engineering, Power Electronics and Industrial Drives, and Embedded Systems and IoT. MTech options include Biotechnology and Medical Instrumentation. Applicants need the accepted previous degree for the selected specialisation.

Sathyabama also lists MBA, MArch Sustainable Architecture and Building Management, MPharm Pharmaceutics, and MDS specialisations. Arts and science options include MA English, MSc courses, MCom, MCA, Social Work and LLM. The university provides a separate postgraduate application, so the UG engineering test is not a general entrance rule for every master's degree.

Online Programmes

The online centre's June 2026 information includes three-year BBA and BCom and two-year MBA, MSc Mathematics and MA English programmes. Students apply through the centre's own admission link and pay through the university fee portal. Campus and online applications have different study modes and fees.

How to Apply and Documents Required

  1. Choose the degree on the Sathyabama admission page and open its application link.
  2. Register and enter personal details, school subjects and qualifying marks.
  3. Upload the photograph, signature and academic documents requested by the portal.
  4. Pay the application amount and complete SAEEE or the programme's separate selection process.
  5. Attend counselling where required and complete seat acceptance, payment and verification.

The engineering application portal specifies a photograph up to 200 KB and signature up to 100 KB in the accepted formats. It also asks for school certificates. Applicants should keep original Class 10 and Class 12 records, identity proof and the relevant entrance result ready. Postgraduate applicants need degree marksheets, while category and professional-registration claims require their supporting records.

The final offer identifies the allotted course and the payment deadline. Students seeking a scholarship should also submit the documents for that scheme. Accommodation is arranged separately under the university's hostel allotment process.
