Vadodara based Parul University marked the spirit of India’s 80th Independence Day with Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai, the Former Chief Justice of India, as the Chief Guest, bringing together university leaders, faculty members, students and staff for a gathering centered on the nation’s path of freedom, solidarity and advancement.
 

The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag at PU Circle followed by the National Anthem, creating a solemn and patriotic beginning of the event. The gathering reflected the collective involvement from the university community in commemorating the nation’s Independence.

During the special session, Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai shared his views on the significance of Independence Day, the values that live inside the Constitution, and the responsibility of citizens in contributing towards the nation’s continued progress. Addressing the audience he said, “Let justice guide your choices. Let equality shape your understanding of society. Let liberty inform your defense of rights. And let fraternity deepen your concerns for others.” Further while communicating with the young aspiring lawyers in the audience he said, “Lawyers are equally important custodians of the constitutional order. Your career will ultimately be measured not only by the positions that you occupy or the cases that you win but also by the values you uphold.” 
 

Expressing his gratitude and congratulating everyone on India's 79 years of Independence and 80th Independence day he further added, “I am honoured to participate in the celebrations at Parul University." He said, "Independence Day is not only an occasion to commemorate India’s freedom from colonial rule, but also an opportunity to reflect on the constitutional promises of liberty, equality, justice and fraternity.” He connected the freedom struggle with the Constitution, explaining that the struggle was also against inequality, discrimination, exploitation and the erosion of human dignity.
 

The march past by the NCC cadets gave the celebrations an added grandeur, showing unity, integrity and discipline while quietly reflecting the values of responsible citizenship.The celebration also featured lively cultural performances to celebrate the freedom, patriotic songs, dances and thematic presentations. Students brought India’s cultural diversity to life through acts that carried messages of national unity, selfless service and social harmony along with engaging theatrical performances.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Parul Patel, Vice President (Student Affairs & General Administration) and Chairperson (Admissions Committee), Parul University said, “Independence Day is an opportunity to help our youth understand the value of freedom, that the freedom we celebrate comes with a responsibility to contribute to the nation’s progress. At Parul University, we believe that education must go beyond classrooms to nurture young individuals who are conscious of their responsibilities, respect the values of our Constitution, and have the confidence and conviction to contribute meaningfully to society and the nation. Through such occasions, we aim to inspire our students to carry the spirit of patriotism, unity and service into every sphere of their lives.”

The celebration concluded with a powerful demonstration of patriotism, unity and national pride that mirrored Parul University’s dedication to creating an environment where students connect with the values of the nation and uphold the spirit of responsible citizenship.
