- Class 12 (Arts and Sciences): Minimum 85% overall from CBSE, CISCE or a recognised State Board (recommended)
- Class 12 (Computer Science, Management, competitive streams): Minimum 90% with Standard Mathematics (recommended); admitted cohorts routinely sit in the mid-90s

University of Toronto Scarborough Acceptance Rate 2027
The University of Toronto Scarborough acceptance rate sits at 30% (estimated) for international applicants across all undergraduate streams. UTSC does not publish an official campus-level acceptance rate, so this figure is derived from published aggregate admissions data and should be treated as directional.
Competitive programmes such as Computer Science Co-op and Management Co-op run tighter admit rates, with practical cutoffs closer to 20 to 25% for Indian applicants. Arts and Life Sciences streams sit closer to the 30 to 35% band once academically qualified applicants are counted.
Reality check: Meeting the recommended 85 to 90% Class 12 threshold does not guarantee a UTSC offer; the co-op admissions committees favour Indian applicants with Board 95%+, strong extracurriculars and a documented interest in Toronto’s study in Canada employer network.

As per Times Higher Education 2026, University of Toronto is #1 in Canada and 10th among public universities worldwide, holding its top-25 global position for the third consecutive year. On subject rankings, U of T also ranks in the top 30 across all 11 THE subject tables, a distinction shared by only six universities globally.
Key insight: For Indian applicants, U of T’s top-25 status across THE and US News matters more than the QS 2027 slip to #32; loan providers such as HDFC Credila and Avanse recognise U of T on their premier lists based on multi-body strength.

University of Toronto Scarborough Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
UTSC’s placement engine is anchored by its 50-plus co-op programmes, which combine four paid work terms with academic study and produce measurable earnings uplift for graduates.
- Average U of T starting salary (2023): CAD 71,000 (INR 49.0 lakh)

- THE Global Employability Ranking 2025: #14 worldwide and #1 in Canada (University of Toronto)
- Careers support: Dedicated Academic Advising & Career Centre, one-to-one career coaching, employer connections through MBA universities in Canada-tier recruiters
Insider note: For Indian graduates, the three-year Post-Graduation Work Permit combined with a UTSC co-op record is the single strongest lever for landing skilled roles in Toronto’s finance and tech clusters.
University of Toronto Scarborough vs Peer Universities
UTSC competes with other Toronto-area and Ontario campuses for Indian applicants; the comparison below uses the parent University of Toronto rank for UTSC.
| University | QS Rank 2027 | Avg Annual UG Fee (CAD) | Avg Annual UG Fee (INR lakh) | One-line Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| University of Toronto Scarborough | #32 (U of T) | 68,750-78,160 | 47.5-54.0 lakh | U of T degree at lower Scarborough living costs; strong co-op |
| McMaster University | #189 | ~48,000 | ~33.2 lakh | Engineering and Health Sciences flagship in Hamilton |
| University of Waterloo | #116 | ~66,000 | ~45.6 lakh | Largest co-op programme in Canada; tech recruiter density |
| York University | #416 | ~40,000 | ~27.6 lakh | Lower fees, large Indian community, north Toronto location |
| Western University | #211 | ~50,000 | ~34.5 lakh | Ivey Business School and residential undergraduate feel |
UTSC’s edge for Indian applicants is the University of Toronto degree branding at a Scarborough cost base; the trade-off is a suburban campus feel compared with Waterloo’s tech pipeline or Ivey’s business branding.
An Indian applicant investing roughly CAD 280,000 (INR 193.4 lakh) over four years at UTSC targets an average U of T starting salary of CAD 71,000 (INR 49.0 lakh), and the Post-Graduation Work Permit adds three years of Canadian earning runway. UTSC fits students who want the U of T degree, a strong co-op record and a lower cost base than the downtown St. George campus.
It is a weaker fit for applicants who want the downtown campus experience, whose Class 12 sits below 85%, or who need a lower sticker price; York University or a Waterloo pathway can deliver a comparable Ontario base with less financial stretch.

Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at UTSC?
Ans. Yes. Indian students on a Canadian study permit can work up to 24 hours per week off campus during academic terms and full-time during scheduled breaks under 2025 IRCC rules. On-campus work is unlimited and includes teaching assistantships and research roles. Co-op placements count as authorised work terms and require a separate co-op work permit filed alongside the study permit.
Ques. Does UTSC accept the Duolingo English Test for international admission?
Ans. Yes. UTSC accepts DET results for direct undergraduate admission with a minimum overall score of 120 and a Production sub-score of at least 120 for tests taken on or after 1 July 2024. DET scores must be sent directly from Duolingo, not self-reported. IELTS 6.5 and TOEFL iBT remain the primary tests, but DET is a valid alternative when test centres are unavailable.
Ques. How does the Pearson Scholarship school-nomination process work?
Ans. Each Indian school may nominate one Class 12 student through the U of T secure nomination form between 6 July and 9 October 2026 for the September 2027 intake. The counsellor or principal fills out the online form; U of T then invites the nominee to complete a full scholarship application by 6 November 2026. A regular U of T admission file must reach the university by 16 October 2026.
Ques. Which Indian banks offer education loans for University of Toronto Scarborough?
Ans. HDFC Credila, Avanse, InCred, Auxilo and public-sector lenders including SBI (Global Ed-Vantage) and Bank of Baroda list the University of Toronto on their premier or A-list schedules, which typically translates to unsecured funding up to INR 60 lakh and secured loans up to INR 150 lakh for UTSC undergraduate and PG students. Sanction turnaround runs 10 to 20 working days.
Ques. What documents do Indian applicants submit for UTSC transcript verification?
Ans. Indian applicants upload attested Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and passing certificates via the JOIN U of T portal; the university does not require WES evaluation for undergraduate admission. Transcripts must be issued by CBSE, CISCE or the relevant State Board and sent in a sealed envelope for verification if requested. Predicted Class 12 marks are acceptable for early conditional offers.
Ques. Is a GRE or GMAT required for UTSC master’s applications from India?
Ans. Ques. How long does UTSC take to release an admission decision after applying?
Ans. Early-round decisions for Indian applicants who submit by 7 November 2026 typically arrive between mid-December 2026 and February 2027. Applicants who file by the 15 January 2027 primary deadline receive decisions between March and May 2027. Overview
I chose this University specifically because of the co-op program as I have not had any work experience prior to University as well as coming to a new country I felt this would be the best way to step out and make some connections for career-bound growth which definitely was a good initiative. Additionally, the courses offered at the University of Toronto are well rounded and it would only benefit me to study at a prestigious university and learn from the experience of being away from family.
Fees
50,000 CAD for tuition fees for a whole academic year of two semesters. it includes additional fees for University mandatory services as well as insurance and gym membership. Boarding on campus is around 8,000 CAD per 2 semesters and an additional 1,500 CAD for the meal plan for tax-free meals on campus and other expenses such as library expenses and so on.

Will I get a chance to go to Canada with the 5.5 bands?
Each program at UTSC has its own English language proficiency requirements. While the minimum overall requirement is 6.0 IELTS with no band below 5.5, some programs or specific majors might require higher scores, sometimes up to 7.0. Check the specific program webpage or contact the program coordinator for their English language requirements.
I have a Bcom and a Mcom degree. I have 70 Pte. Please suggest to me what I can do for an MBA directly.
Unfortunately, the University Of Toronto (Scarborough) does not offer a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) program. The only management program offered under the Master's level is the Master's of Accounting & Finance. Canadian universities do not offer direct admission to professional programs like MBA. You will be required to provide valid scores for several entrance examinations like GMAT, IELTS, or TOEFL.
