Mohawk College Application Deadlines for Indian Students

Mohawk College runs three intakes each academic year and routes all international applications through the OCAS International Application Service (IAS), Ontario’s central college application portal. The dates below are drawn from the official Mohawk international applicants page. OCAS IAS does not publish a public cycle-open date for each Mohawk intake, so the App Opens column reflects Mohawk’s own published dates. Applications received after a deadline may still be considered where seats and visa processing time allow.

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use CAD 1 = INR 68.06, the most recent published rate as of 30 July 2026. Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.

Mohawk College Eligibility for Indian Students

Eligibility at Mohawk splits by credential level. Ontario College Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas set an academic floor at the Class XII stage, while Ontario Graduate Certificates and the Bachelor of Applied Technology tier need completed post-secondary study. This section covers the academic and English thresholds only; paperwork sits under Documents Required.

  • Diploma and Advanced Diploma: Class XII from a recognised Indian board at 70 to 75 percent, with any prerequisite subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Biology) the program lists.
  • Ontario Graduate Certificate: a completed Bachelor’s degree from a recognised Indian university in the related field named on the program page.
  • Bachelor of Applied Technology and Bachelor of Analytics and Data Management (Honours): Class XII at strong marks with Mathematics, treated on a program-by-program basis.

English-language proof is compulsory for every applicant whose prior study was not in an English-medium environment recognised by Mohawk. The accepted tests and minimums are:

LevelIELTS AcademicTOEFL iBTPTE AcademicDuolingo
Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas6.0 overall (5.5 per band)8050105 to 110
Ontario Graduate Certificate6.5 overall (6.0 per band)83 to 8858115 to 120

Mohawk College English Waiver for Indian Students

Mohawk does not publish a broad Medium of Instruction waiver for Indian applicants. The Academic Entrance Scholarship-linked English exemption is restricted to countries where English is the first language, which excludes India. Plan on submitting IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, or Duolingo; the college recognises the IELTS One Skill Retake result. Score reports must be within the validity window on the day you apply.

Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Mohawk College page for your chosen program before applying.

Mohawk College PG Programs and English Requirements

Mohawk’s postgraduate tier for international students is delivered as Ontario Graduate Certificates, one-year credentials designed for graduates who already hold a Bachelor’s in the related field. Base international tuition sits at CAD 15,885.15 (INR 10.81 Lakhs) per year for most graduate certificates; see the detailed fee breakdown for the year’s ancillary and health-insurance components.

Insider note: Ontario Graduate Certificates are 1-year, career-tilted credentials, not research master’s degrees. Indian applicants using them for the Post-Graduation Work Permit route should confirm the specific program sits on Mohawk’s PGWP-eligible list of 58 offerings before paying the deposit.

Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Mohawk College page for your chosen program before applying.

Mohawk College UG Diploma Programs and English Scores

Mohawk College Application Process for Indian Students

Applications are filed through Ontario’s central college portal, OCAS IAS, rather than a Mohawk-hosted form. Set aside about 30 minutes for the initial submission, plus a couple of days to gather transcripts and language scores in advance.

  1. Create an OCAS International Application Service account on the OCAS IAS portal. This is the platform Mohawk uses for every international file.
  2. Pay the application fee of CAD 100 (INR 6,806) at submission. Fee is per-cycle, not per-program.
  3. Choose up to five program preferences at Mohawk in a single application; ranking your top pick first improves offer sequencing.
  4. Upload Class XII marksheet, Bachelor’s transcript where relevant, English test score report, passport bio page, and any prerequisite documents.
  5. Track application status in the OCAS dashboard. Mohawk’s international team pulls files and issues decisions in rounds.
  6. Accept the offer inside Mohawk’s ApplyNow portal once you receive it, pay the seat deposit against the term’s fee schedule, then request the Letter of Acceptance for the study permit file.

Payment deadlines for confirmed international offers are anchored to the intake: 15 June 2026 for Fall 2026, 15 November 2026 for Winter 2027, and 15 March 2027 for Summer 2027.

Mohawk College Admission Decisions and Offer Timeline

Mohawk processes international offers on a priority basis rather than a single decision day. Once an OCAS IAS file is complete, the international admissions team typically issues a decision within 3 to 6 weeks, though popular Fall-start Advanced Diplomas can take longer during peak months.

  • Offer letter: arrives via the OCAS dashboard and Mohawk’s ApplyNow portal, listing any academic conditions and the fee payment deadline for the intake.
  • Acceptance window: confirm the offer and pay the tuition-linked deposit by the term’s payment deadline (15 June, 15 November, or 15 March) or the seat is released.
  • Conditional offers: common when English scores or final Class XII marks are pending. Meet the conditions before the deadline stated on the offer letter.
  • Deferral: offers can usually be deferred once to the next intake if study permit processing runs long; request in writing through the international admissions team.

Documents Required for Mohawk College Admission

Documents Required is a paperwork checklist only. Academic thresholds and English-test minimums are covered in the Eligibility section above. Have digital copies ready before you begin the OCAS IAS form; certified translations are needed for any document not in English.

  • Passport bio page valid for the full duration of study.
  • Class XII marksheet and passing certificate (attested by school where required).
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate and consolidated transcript, for Ontario Graduate Certificate applicants.
  • English proficiency score report (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, or Duolingo) within the validity window.
  • Statement of Purpose tailored to the specific program and Mohawk’s Hamilton campus.
  • Updated CV or resume, especially for graduate-certificate applicants with any work exposure.
  • Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional referees, where the program page requests them.
  • Financial documents for the study permit stage: bank statements, GIC receipt of CAD 20,635 (INR 14.04 Lakhs), and tuition payment proof.
  • Any program-specific supplementary forms (portfolio, medical clearance for Nursing, background check for Practical Nursing placements).

Mohawk College Acceptance Rate for Indian Students

Mohawk College does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Based on public data on Ontario public-college admission patterns and the college’s access-oriented mandate, the international acceptance rate is estimated at 60 to 70 percent for applicants who meet the stated academic and English floor. Programs with limited seats, clinical placement caps, or higher entry thresholds sit meaningfully below that band.

Which Mohawk Programs Are Hardest to Enter?

Practical Nursing, Paramedic, Radiation Safety, and the Bachelor of Analytics and Data Management (Honours) run the toughest competitions because seat counts are capped by clinical or program partnerships. Advanced Diplomas in Software Development and Network Administration and Cybersecurity draw large international pools and reward files submitted well before the Fall deadline.

What Does an Above-the-Line File Look Like?

Aim for Class XII marks at 75 percent or higher for Advanced Diplomas, IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0 for graduate certificates, and a Statement of Purpose that names Mohawk’s Hamilton and Stoney Creek facilities relevant to your field. The college’s overall ranking band is regional, not global, so weight the file on program fit rather than league-table prestige.

Insider note: Mohawk publishes a "late release" list every cycle for programs still open after the standard round. Watching this list is the practical Plan B if your first-choice Advanced Diploma fills before your file lands.

Canada Student Visa for Mohawk College Applicants

Indian students admitted to Mohawk apply for a Canadian Study Permit, filed with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) through the online IRCC portal or the New Delhi Visa Application Centre. The Letter of Acceptance from Mohawk, the Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) issued by Ontario, and financial proof are the three anchor documents.

The core stack for the study permit file: Letter of Acceptance, PAL, biometrics, passport, Guaranteed Investment Certificate of CAD 20,635 (INR 14.04 Lakhs) from an approved Canadian bank, first-semester tuition payment receipt, medical exam, IELTS score, Statement of Purpose, and academic transcripts. Apply through the Student Direct Stream where you qualify - it targets a decision inside 20 calendar days for Indian applicants who upload the full document set. After landing in Canada, complete the SIN registration and enrol in the mandatory Mohawk Student Health Plan at CAD 795 (INR 54,108) per year.

2026 update: The federal cap on study permits and the Provincial Attestation Letter regime remain in force for 2026 intakes, so factor 8 to 12 weeks for permit processing from the day you have the PAL in hand.

Tips and Application Checklist for Mohawk College

The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Mohawk College and the college’s own advice for international files.

  • Book IELTS 10 to 12 weeks out: Mohawk needs the electronic score in the OCAS file, and Indian slots fill fast around Fall deadlines.
  • Apply 4 to 6 months before the deadline: priority processing rewards early files, and popular Advanced Diplomas can close well before the stated cut.
  • Rank your top pick first on OCAS IAS: the platform issues offers in preference order, so a second-choice ranking often loses to a stronger first-choice applicant.
  • Pin your Statement of Purpose to program specifics: Mohawk assessors weight files that reference the exact Advanced Diploma, Hamilton or Stoney Creek campus location, and PGWP goal.
  • Line up the GIC and PAL before the offer clock runs: tuition payment deadlines (15 June, 15 November, 15 March) do not stretch, and the study permit needs both anchors.
  • Check funding options for Indian students early: Mohawk’s Fall in-course award window is 1 August to 30 September 2026; missing it wastes a term’s shot at the CAD 3 million pool.
  • Confirm PGWP eligibility for your specific program: 58 Mohawk programs qualify, but a few certificates do not - verify before you pay.
  • Keep a Plan B intake ready: if the study permit slips, request a Winter or Summer deferral in writing before the offer expires.

Mohawk College admissions reward early, well-documented files aimed at the OCAS IAS Fall window. Indian applicants who lock IELTS by month 3, rank the primary intake correctly, and hit the payment deadline typically secure the Letter of Acceptance in time for a comfortable study permit run.

Overview

I have already been to thus school previously for a different program based in the trades. After sexual discrimination and safety concerns I chose to come back to school here for a career change. I have grown up in the local areas of Hamilton and Brantford, so regularly I went on field trips and participated in events geared towards learning about Mohawk College. This school used to have an amazing reputation (before it started really taking advantage of international students like it has been last few years until the Canadian cap was put into place). This time around I applied with help from indigenous student services, however it's easy to apply online. Once admitted, first semester is usually the easiest semester, second is okay and third semester always seems to be the hardest. Note this is a college that prides itself on being barrier free. If you have questions about how to get in, just come visit on campus services and ask. They want you here and will help.

Scholarship

Just fill out the "My Financial Profile" every semester honestly. Money is given to those in financial need or for awards. I usually fall under the need category. There are indigenous specific awards as well each winter. They have listed criteria for indigenous students for all the awards.

Overview

The admission process does not require a lot. A student is eligible if they score above 60% marks in their respective main subjects in high school with an average of 50% and more than 6.5 bands in the IELTS exam. An admission fee might be required based on the time of application. I was eligible for the intake and paid for my admission. I waited for the offer letter and got selected.

It is okay that’s what I am going to say. Because if you can’t find employment what you studied then what’s the point of the studying from these colleges. All these colleges are government funded and you are paying 4 times more. So, if you really want to spend money and want to study go for a better university. Don’t run behind agents choice.

Overview

I have completed my high school in India with Non-medical stream. I wanted to build up my future in the chemical field particularly in wastewater treatment. I lived in Punjab province, college for chemical engineering was not so good there. I planned to move out to a different province for studies. I used to search for different colleges to study chemistry in India as well as abroad. I came to know about Mohawk college which is the best college of applied arts and technology. I did IELTS and applied for this college Besides this, my mom has applied to Seneca college on behalf of me but luckily Mohawk college accepted my application. I paid around Rs.13 Lakh including my GIC and 1st sem fees. I'm paying more than $8000 every semester. As I have completed my one and a half years here, I can say that this much money is worth according to the study and facilities provided by the college.

Great college with great success and cheap international fees. The admission process was very easy compared to other schools and I had all the prerequisites already. I found this college in an article listing the best colleges in North America. I've always wanted to continue my learning here because I've heard such great things.
