Master of Engineering in Information Systems Security at Concordia University, Montreal

Concordia University’s Master of Engineering (MEng) in Information Systems Security is a 24-month, course-based graduate programme designed for engineers and technology professionals who want to specialise in defending digital infrastructure against evolving cyber threats. Delivered by the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science—one of Canada’s leading engineering schools—this programme combines hands-on laboratory work, advanced coursework in cryptography and database security, and optional co-op internships to prepare graduates for high-demand cybersecurity careers.

The programme attracts students from across the globe, including a growing cohort of Indian students seeking postgraduate cybersecurity credentials in a top-45 global university. Concordia’s location in Montreal, a major tech hub with active cybersecurity research and industry partnerships, provides networking opportunities and practical experience. Graduates secure roles as cybersecurity engineers, security architects, penetration testers, and information security managers in finance, aerospace, defence, and technology sectors.

This programme is ideal for bachelor’s-degree holders in computer science, software engineering, or related technical fields who want to deepen expertise in cyber forensics, cryptography, and secure systems design without relocating to a larger North American financial centre. Unlike some peer programmes (e.g. University of Waterloo’s co-op-heavy model), Concordia’s approach balances rigorous coursework with optional internships, making it accessible to working professionals and full-time students alike.
