Concordia University Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Concordia University assesses Indian applicants on academic marks in the Indian scale, English proficiency, and programme-specific tests where required.
Concordia University PG Requirements for Indian Applicants
- Academic: Recognised bachelor’s degree with minimum CGPA 3.0/4.3 (roughly 75% or CGPA 7.5/10 in Indian scale, recommended); a select few programmes accept CGPA 3.0/4.3 with a strong statement of purpose
- English (graduate): IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.5 per band; TOEFL iBT 86 (0-120 legacy scale) or 4.5 (1-6 new scale from January 2026) with no section below 4.0; PTE Academic 61 with no component below 53; Duolingo 120
- Documents: Transcripts (WES verification useful, not always mandatory), SOP, CV, 2 academic references
- Programme-specific: John Molson MBA requires GMAT (or GRE) with a recommended 580+ score and 3 years work experience
Concordia University UG Requirements for Indian Applicants
- Academic: Class 12 with 75% to 85% (recommended, varies by faculty; Engineering and John Molson skew to the upper band)
- English (undergraduate): IELTS 6.0 with no band below 5.5; TOEFL iBT 70 (legacy scale) or 4.0 (new scale from January 2026) with no section below 3.5; PTE 50 with speaking and writing each at 46+; Duolingo 105 with sub-scores 90+
Key insight: Concordia University’s graduate English threshold sits below stricter Canadian peers like McGill and Toronto, giving Indian applicants with mid-range IELTS scores a genuine pathway to a Canadian research university.
Concordia University Acceptance Rate 2027
Concordia University does not officially publish an institution-wide acceptance rate. Third-party estimates cluster around 78% (estimated), placing Concordia among Canada’s less selective research universities in raw admit percentage. Programme-level selectivity varies sharply.
Reality check: MS in Applied Computer Science and John Molson MBA cohorts remain genuinely competitive at Concordia, while general Arts and Science bachelor’s programmes align closer to the headline 78% figure. Indian applicants should treat the number as a floor, not a guarantee for oversubscribed programmes.

Concordia University Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
Concordia University reports strong labour-market outcomes for graduates, aided by Montreal’s tech, aerospace and finance cluster and the city’s dual English-French job market.
- Median starting salary: C$ 68,000 per year (₹ 47.26 Lakh, market median per Payscale)
- Top graduate sectors: Software engineering, aerospace, finance, video-game production (Ubisoft), pharmaceuticals
- Post-study work: Indian graduates qualify for the Canadian Post-Graduation Work Permit for up to 3 years after degree completion
- Career support: Concordia Career Advancement Centre for CV clinics and employer connects; District 3 startup incubator for founder-track students
- Recruiter recognition: John Molson MBAs feed into Montreal-based CAE, Bombardier, National Bank and BDC hiring pipelines
Insider note: Montreal’s tech ecosystem, including Google DeepMind’s Montreal lab, Ubisoft and CAE, actively hires Concordia’s AI, gaming and computer-science graduates. Basic French speeds placement in finance and government but is not required for most tech roles.
Concordia University vs Peer Universities
Compared against similar Canadian research universities, Concordia University sits mid-pack on global rankings but ahead on tuition affordability and India-relevant programme depth.
| University | QS Rank 2027 | Collegedunia Study Abroad | Avg Annual PG Fee (CAD / INR Lakh) | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Concordia University | #497 | #418 | C$ 20,130 to 25,450 / ₹ 13.99 to 17.69 Lakh | Cheapest big-city Canadian option with Quebec tuition award |
| York University | #416 | NA | C$ 24,000 to 30,000 / ₹ 16.68 to 20.85 Lakh (estimated) | Toronto location plus Schulich Business brand |
| University of Ottawa | #219 | NA | C$ 27,000 to 35,000 / ₹ 18.77 to 24.33 Lakh (estimated) | Higher QS band, bilingual capital city |
| Carleton University | #571 | NA | C$ 23,000 to 28,000 / ₹ 15.99 to 19.46 Lakh (estimated) | Public affairs and engineering focus in Ottawa |
| Toronto Metropolitan University | #491 | NA | C$ 25,000 to 32,000 / ₹ 17.38 to 22.24 Lakh (estimated) | Downtown Toronto, applied-tech and media focus |
Concordia University stands out on two dimensions: the International Tuition Award of Excellence can compress total costs below any peer in this table, and Montreal rents remain 30% to 40% below Toronto averages. The trade-off is a lower QS band than York and Ottawa, which some Indian employers still weight.
Concordia University fits Indian applicants with a mid-strong academic profile targeting Applied Computer Science, Software Engineering or an MBA in an English-medium Canadian city. Total two-year investment of around ₹ 35 Lakh against a market-median starting salary of ₹ 47 Lakh keeps ROI positive, and the Post-Graduation Work Permit supports up to a 3-year Canadian work pathway after graduation.
It suits less if you need a top-100 QS brand for stricter Indian employers or family recognition, or if you plan to study in French-heavy Quebec sectors like law and public policy. In those cases, McGill or the University of Toronto remain the stronger comparison points.

Overview
I chose this university bcz of following factors: Canada - Safe and developed country Concordia- Few options for Industrial Engineering in Canada and among all those options this is the best one considering the city, fees, and opportunities. Overall, I had a great experience.
Campus Life
Campus life is very good. Situated in the main downtown with a lot of buildings. Give students a chance to connect with many companies through various clubs and student organizations.

- I liked the Infrastructure and Accessibility to it.
Dislikes
- I dislike how few professors are very biased and unprofessional.
Overview
I chose Canada mainly due to its lenient Immigration policy and I specifically chose Montreal due to its diversity and rich culture. Concordia is one of the best Universities in Montreal overall. The Campus is rich in infrastructure and is very accessible as it is located in Downtown. You have a lot of opportunities but only if you are looking for them. The city is moderate in its cost of living and Part-Time Employment opportunities.
Campus Life
There are not much of extracurricular events overall, however, there are a lot of student clubs and Organisations specific to certain communities and Cultures.

- Nice institute with certified professors. A very solid engineering department. Location was a plus for me as well.
- Infrastructure, curriculum, and most importantly the assignments. Homework handed out in all the courses is surely pretty solid for self learning. Co-op program is also well built where a lot of companies take part.
Dislikes
- Career placements (non co-op): Very little help offered by university. Extended Credit program: 30 extra credits that all out of province students need which are all general course (pre college level or introductory level) which have no importance. Some teachers are also pretty bad.
Overview
I would describe my overall experience as satisfying. Its not the best university out there, but with the right amount of effort you can place yourself in the same pool like the graduates of major universities. Definitely one of the better universities in Canada.
Campus Life
Great, university has many clubs. From my experience you only get time to take part in them in first year or so.
Overview
I received a good scholarship and offer from my current professor. Generally, I'm satisfied with my master's program and I also I am happy with the current research project that I'm working on.
Campus Life
There are many free events and also wifi is available and library is well-equipped.

- I opted for Concordia University as my study destination since it is one of the most reputed universities, known for its quality academic programs. Browsing through the information brochure and the university's home page, I felt that the university with its rich blend of competent faculty, intense curriculum, and cherished history of success, will lead me to attain new heights in my career.
- The university promotes experiential learning, personalized tuition and development, along with several student support services, all of which are designed to provide the confidence to stand out from the crowd and thrive in the chosen professional field.
- The university has strong links with the private and public sectors, which would give an opportunity to learn from relevant visiting lecturers with leading careers in their subjects. I choose MEng. in Information Systems Security because it's emerging now and it's really a competitive course. It would contribute to achieve my desired goals.
Campus Life
Almost all the facilities are available that are required for students. Talking on academic terms, labs with PCs, studies rooms in library, presentation rehearsal rooms, Wi-Fi, printing facility, everything is available. Concordia has variety of sports and recreational programs both on and off-campus. There are different options available for enrollment in miscellaneous activities including dance club, gym, tennis & badminton club, and much more. There are numerous student associations as well that take care of well-being of the students. Few of them are responsible for arranging trips in and around the city. Also, there are student help and service center to provide the required information. You can explore more about the University from their website.
Fees
Its $32k CAD (approx) for the whole program (MEng in Information Systems Security)

- I chose Concordia because it is one of the best universities in Canada. Moreover, it is in the heart of Montreal downtown, which was a major reason why I chose Concordia. Also when compared to other alternatives, it is a bit cheaper as well.
