- UBC is internationally recognised as a world-class university and is ranked among the top 40 universities in the world.
- UBC Okanagan campus is very beautiful and picturesque.
- The small class sizes in UBCO provide students with an opportunity to connect with professors.
Dislikes
- Because the Vancouver campus is more well-known than the Okanagan campus, the latter can get overlooked or overshadowed by the public and employers.
- The location of the Okanagan campus is slightly inaccessible since it is not in a metropolitan (or big) city like Vancouver.
Campus Life
- UBC has two campuses, one in Vancouver and the other in Kelowna (the Okanagan campus). Since the latter is a smaller campus, the community is much tighter, and many of the events and activities on campus are student-driven. There are over 150 student clubs and course unions on the Okanagan campus, most of which are created by students themselves. Some clubs as simple as Ice Cream Club (that give away free ice cream) and others as “complex” as Medieval Sword fighting Club (where students can get sword fighting lessons while wearing chain mail armour) are all created by students because UBC always encourages varied and diverse student interests (none of which need to meet a certain “standard” or “expectation”).
- UBC is also a research intensive university, which means there are several opportunities for students to make the most out of their degree; this can look like directed research studies, graduating thesis, research assistantships, Co-op (work-study programme where students can take a break from studying for up to 12 months to work at an institution that benefits their degree, all the while being officially registered as a student), Go Global (study abroad exchange programme where students can study for up to 12 months at another country at a university of their choice that has partnered with UBC with the same UBC tuition fees), and more.
- While the Okanagan campus only has one library, the best thing about UBC is that all the libraries are connected across campus, so Okanagan students can borrow books from any of the 11 libraries on the Vancouver campus and have them shipped at no cost. The gym on the Okanagan campus also has a wide variety of sports and fitness facilities, including a fully-fledged fitness centre that provides an annual pass at a highly subsidised rate. Other events, like Glow in the Dark Yoga, Salsa lessons, Spin classes, and more, keep happening throughout the year that students can register for free.
Fees
- International students have a higher tuition cost compared to domestic students. Fees generally vary from degree to degree; the more specialised it is, the higher the cost. Tuition does not include other costs such as housing, books, library, transit, recreation, etc. Currently, the tuition fee for BA and BSc is around CAD 51000 per year (8 months: September to April). For MA, it is around CAD 9600 (12 months: September to August).
- There are several ways to receive scholarships, too. UBC has an extensive list of who can apply for which scholarship, and these can prove useful for students who are seeking financial support from their academic institution. There are also ways to receive a scholarship during undergraduate and graduate studies.

Campus Life
My college has two campuses, and all major faculties are available. There are a lot of clubs on campus for example, I am a part of the squash club and Model UN club. There are a lot of extracurricular activities taking place throughout the year.

- The teaching staff, is really helpful and friendly.

- Housing crisis, the long waiting list for on-campus housing.
- Gyms can be crowded sometimes.
Overview
The factors that drove me to UBC were obviously good education, but apart from that it was the lively campus life that UBC provides and of course the beautiful campus.
Campus Life
Library is very nice and big and the campus life is very diverse, a lots of clubs.

- The beautiful campus, the people, opportunities, and the unique college experience. UBC was a very fast-forward institution that cared and prepared their students for a bright future.

- The tuition fee is exceedingly too expensive for international students, it’s impossible to live on campus due to the high cost of living and expensive rent.
Overview
I chose this college as it had a Global ranking (one of the top 50 schools worldwide), Business program’s excellent reputation among other business programs in Canada, and the beautiful campus. My overall experience at UBC was insightful, eye-opening, and rewarding. The people I met and the knowledge I gained from learning at one of the best universities in Canada will be beneficial for my career down the line.
Campus Life
Lots of opportunities to connect with clubs and organizations of different interests, students at Sauder are extroverted, making it a faculty that is relatively easy to grow connections and make friends. UBC as a whole has hundreds of clubs that accommodate the interests of thousands of students and the campus is very well equipped in providing numerous facilities, libraries, and places for recreation.

- The campus! And my course. Fun fact: UBC has been a film spot for many movies. So you can just imagine how beautiful the campus is.
- There are specific people who help international students as well.
Dislikes
- Specific to my course I have no complaints. But my friends in other courses wish that their course (data science) was more application based rather than theoretical. So maybe I don't like the fact that some courses are not application oriented.
Overview
For my program UBC is ranked in the top 10 in the world. Additionally for my course, it provides all the required courses that I need to study in order to be certified for my profession in Canada. According to the BCBA website (Board Certified Behaviour Analyst), UBC is one of the universities that is verified to provide the required courses in order to attempt the certificate exam. As an international student, my experience has been great. The students are friendly, the professors are amazing. The course is extremely student friendly and if we plan properly, it's not stressful throughout the semester, including the end term exams.
Campus Life
UBC has so much to offer. Wifi is available to all, separate libraries for different departments, free access to all research papers which usually require the public to pay an amount, and recreational clubs are endless. As a graduate student I don't find time to be a part of the clubs but if one wishes to, they can. Lastly the campus is HUGE with so many gardens, greenery, beaches and cafes. It's like a whole new city in Vancouver.

- The student council also seems to actually care about others, so that’s always a bonus.
- The professors are understanding yet challenging, which is a great balance.
Dislikes
- I wish the courses were more interesting or out-of-the-box.
- I would also appreciate a decrease in various fees, as most international students do.
- I also wish UBC was more attentive towards helping socially awkward/anxious students socialize, especially those who do not get on-campus housing first year.
Overview
UBC is diverse and contains a student and staff population of open-minded, multi-cultured, and mature beings. I have grown up in schools that nurture such an environment, and so I value these characteristics in people and in education. Being smart isn’t just about numbers and grades, it’s about how you think, view others, your drive in life, your ability to solve problems and critically think about things outside of x + y, because real life is so much more than just that. My overall experience at UBC is that it is international, tolerant, diverse, aspirational, and challenging enough. It gives you a variety of clubs, friends, and courses to choose from to suit your best interests, has great career and mental health counseling, decent-paying jobs at the university, great academic/research/work facilities and social activities, and much more. It may big enormous, but it prepares you for the world which is much, much bigger.
Campus Life
UBC is known for its campus: the facilities, events, clubs, location, etc. The campus is a town itself, and is absolutely beautiful. It has a beach (Wreck Beach) just 400 steps below which sounds like a lot, but isn’t when you descend, but maybe, when you ascend. It has various indoor and outdoor gym facilities, although the membership fee may not be attractive for some students, it has rose gardens, core buildings for student collaboration and social activity, the CALENDAR (an organization or UBC club that hosts parties and events for all sorts of celebrations), it celebrates diverse festivals from unique cultures, including Diwali and Holi (and everyone is eager to join in), as well as cafes and restaurants in and around the campus buildings, including UBC’s own club and pub inside one of the buildings (known as the NEST).

- The campus facilities and resources also contribute to a fulfilling college experience, providing ample opportunities for research, collaboration, and community engagement. Overall, I value the sense of belonging and the rich learning experiences. it can be overwhelming at first but you find your path in your own time.

- while the campus community is generally supportive, I've noticed occasional instances where issues related to diversity and inclusion could be addressed more proactively.
Overview
I would define my experience overall to be enriching. It is safe to say that in my journey at UBC, I have become more self-reliant and independent and most of all learned how to manage and allocate time to important tasks. All of this is still a work in progress, but definitely moving in the right direction.
Campus Life
Campus life is fun, a lot of fun events take place weekly for people to participate in and feel like a part of a community both socially and academically.

- The QS ranking was a major factor. And the Masters program was a professional course which would provide me further in depth knowledge of the field

The university provides a combination of well curated academic curriculum and lots of opportunities for extracurriculars as well. The infrastructure is at par with the high ranked universities.

- UBC is the top most ranked university in Canada. I got offer letters from both universities i.e. York University and UBC as well but I choose UBC over York due to its top ranking.
- Immense resources for everything, UBC has so many opportunities even during the degree they have a number of jobs for working on-campus and it is ranked amongst the top universities in Canada. The faculty is so good and it is indeed a pleasure to connect with all of them.
- The professors allow you to think innovatively and help their best to make your concepts clear. The studying pattern is so different from my home country, at first I was apprehensive about it but after giving my first exam at UBC I realized that their focus is to make you understand the concept, and the exams are application based so you do not need to cram everything and spill it out in the exams, usually, they teach you how to apply the rule or the law laid down by the judges in a scenario and ask you your opinion.
Dislikes
- There is nothing I dislike about UBC. I can say that the campus is so huge that you need more time than a year to explore it. UBC has so and fun activities and events that it makes it really hard to utilize and attend all of them in that one year along with your studies and part-time.
Overview
The course duration was really good, however, there is no on-campus placement. The faculty and academics are commendable and overall my experience with UBC has been memorable. It was a great opportunity to study with such a good faculty and get so much exposure. To conclude, I would say to study abroad the first research should be done about the country you want to move to, does it has job opportunities or not then you need to hunt the college or university. Getting into UBC was a great thing however the moment I would get a job in my legal field then I would be on cloud nine.

Campus life is really good as I mentioned there are so many events for students to interact and connect. There are a lot extra curricular activities as well the only challenge is to spare time for all of that with your studies.

This raises concerns about the university's commitment to maintaining a high standard of teaching and ensuring student satisfaction.
- Additionally, the inadequacy of transit facilities poses a significant inconvenience for students, making commuting to and from the campus a challenging aspect of university life.

My overall experience is okay. I am not very happy with the studies and curriculum as well as the campus life but i still got to learn a lot of things which I wouldn't have if I was to be still in India,

The campus life leaves much to be desired, as there is a noticeable lack of engaging and enjoyable events and activities. Furthermore, the gym and fitness facilities fall short of expectations, with limited space that can hardly accommodate the number of students.
