Guelph’s international tuition follows an annual cohort structure that locks the fee at admission for the full programme, giving Indian applicants predictable four-year cost planning. Three of the four international entrance scholarships trigger automatically from the admission average, and Guelph is on IRCC’s PGWP-eligible list — graduates from any programme of 8 months or longer qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit of up to 3 years, a pathway that also anchors most MBA universities in Canada for Indian applicants.
Exchange rate used: C$1 = ₹69.5 as of August 2026
Admission Status: Opens October 2026 (est.) (Fall 2027 intake). Fall 2027 international applications are expected to open October 2026 on a rolling basis, with programme-level deadlines running from January 2027 through March 2027. The Winter 2027 intake is limited to selected masters and closes September 2026 — Indian applicants outside that shortlist should start WES credential verification and confirm English test scores now to be ready when the Fall 2027 portal opens.

University of Guelph Admission 2027
The Fall 2027 intake dominates Indian applications at Guelph and is expected to open in October 2026, with rolling programme-level deadlines from January 2027 onward. The Winter 2027 intake is limited to selected masters (closes September 2026). Postgraduate deadlines vary by department and are set by each graduate coordinator.
| Milestone | Date | Notes for Indian Applicants |
|---|---|---|
| Next application deadline (Fall 2027 UG) | Expected January 2027 (based on Fall 2026 cycle) | International UG applications route via the OUAC (Ontario Universities’ Application Centre) 105 portal |
| Credential verification (WES) | Start 6 weeks before application deadline | WES (World Education Services) processes Indian transcripts in 4 to 6 weeks; delay here breaks the timeline |
| Programme start | September 2027 | Orientation runs late August 2027; international students arrive one to two weeks earlier |
Planning note: Guelph accepts predicted Class 12 grades from your school for conditional admission review, but the final Class 12 marksheet must reach the Admissions Office by end-June 2027 to confirm the offer and trigger the study permit letter for VFS Global.

University of Guelph Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Indian applicants clear a fixed academic threshold, an English test and WES credential verification before Guelph issues a final offer.
University of Guelph PG Admission Requirements
- Academic: Bachelor’s degree with 70% or CGPA 7.0/10 (recommended); economics streams raise the bar to 75% and MBA requires a completed bachelor’s plus 2+ years of full-time work experience
- English test: TOEFL iBT 4.5 (1-6 scale) / 89 (0-120 legacy scale) with no section under 21; IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band under 6; PTE Academic 60 with no component under 60; Duolingo 110; CAEL 70; Cambridge C1/C2 Advanced 176 (no band under 169)
- Credential verification: WES ICAP evaluation of Indian bachelor’s transcripts and marksheets is required before academic assessment
- Programme-specific: Departmental supplementary requirements (research statement, writing sample, portfolio) apply per programme; DVM requires extensive life-sciences and animal-experience prerequisites
University of Guelph UG Admission Requirements
- Academic: Class 12 (CBSE, ICSE, State Board) with 75% for BA and BSc; 80% for BComm, BEng and BComp with specified subject prerequisites
- English test: Same accepted tests as PG; IELTS 6.5 and TOEFL iBT 89 (0-120) are the working defaults for Indian applicants
- Documents: Class 12 predicted grades plus verified Class 10 results allow conditional review; final Class 12 marksheet due end-June 2027
Key insight: WES verification for Indian transcripts typically takes 4 to 6 weeks; Indian applicants should place the WES ICAP order the same week the Class 12 or bachelor’s marksheet is ready so credential verification never becomes the reason a Guelph deadline slips.
University of Guelph Acceptance Rate 2027
The University of Guelph does not publish an official acceptance rate; independent aggregators place the overall figure at 68% (estimated). Programme-level admit rates vary sharply — DVM, Bio-Medical Science and Animal Biology run under 35% while general Arts, Science and Commerce streams sit closer to the 68% headline.
Programme selectivity matters far more than the headline number for Indian applicants. The DVM caps international seats to a handful each year, whereas mainstream BA, BSc and BComm streams admit most academically qualified applicants who meet English and subject prerequisites.
Reality check: An Indian applicant with a Class 12 average of 80%+ and clean English scores clears most Guelph UG streams comfortably; the DVM, however, behaves like a top-15% competitive admission and needs prior life-sciences coursework, documented animal-experience hours and a strong personal statement.

University of Guelph Campus, Facilities and Student Life
The University of Guelph occupies a 4.1 km² main campus in Guelph, Ontario, a 90-minute train ride from Toronto and a 20-minute walk end-to-end.
- Location and transport: Campus sits at 50 Stone Road East; Guelph Central Station connects to Toronto Union Station in under 90 minutes via GO Transit; the Guelph Transit U-Pass is bundled with tuition
- Housing: On-campus residence guaranteed for first-year international undergraduates; graduate students typically shift to shared off-campus rentals from term two (C$700 to C$1,200 per person, per month)
- Notable facilities: Ontario Veterinary College teaching hospital, the Guelph Turfgrass Institute research farm, and the McLaughlin Library which stays open 24 hours during exam periods
- Indian community: Guelph Indian Students Association (GISA) runs a peer-buddy programme, Diwali and Holi celebrations, and a subsidised group grocery night at a nearby Indian retailer
What Indian students say: The campus feels small in a good way — professors know students by name and the international student office responds within a working day. Winters are cold but the transit pass keeps walking to a minimum. Off-campus housing tightens sharply from mid-August — lock a lease by June or plan for on-campus overflow.
University of Guelph Scholarships 2027
The University of Guelph runs four named international entrance scholarships — three awarded automatically on the admission average and one that requires a separate application. The university awarded C$14.1 million (₹98.02 crore) in aid to international students in 2023-24.
| Scholarship | Type | Award Value (CAD / INR lakh) | Eligibility | Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dr. Franco J. Vaccarino President’s Scholarship | Merit, apply | C$42,500 / ₹29.54 lakh | Top international entrance applicant across all faculties; separate application required | Verify at official page |
| President’s International Entrance Scholarship | Merit, automatic | C$2,000 to C$7,500 / ₹1.39 to ₹5.21 lakh | First-time UG international entrant; tiered by admission average from 70% to 95%+ | Automatic with admission offer |
| University International Scholarship | Merit, renewable | C$5,000/year × 4 = C$20,000 / ₹13.90 lakh | First-time UG international entrant; renew with 80%+ each year | Automatic with admission offer |
| Dean’s International Scholarship | Merit, renewable | C$2,500/year × 4 = C$10,000 / ₹6.95 lakh | First-time UG international entrant; renew with 80%+ each year | Automatic with admission offer |
[Source: University of Guelph Student Financial Services 2026]
Planning note: Only the Vaccarino scholarship needs a separate application; the President’s, University International and Dean’s awards are triggered automatically from the admission average and stack in year one up to a combined ceiling set by the Registrar. Graduate applicants should look separately at departmental RA and TA packages, which often cover tuition and add a stipend.

University of Guelph Rankings 2027
The University of Guelph’s strongest global rank is #5 in Veterinary Science (QS Subject 2025) — a top-Canada position held for three years running. Overall QS World has moved from #=456 in 2025 to #=546 in 2027, in line with a broader Canadian slide as Asian universities climb.
| Ranking Body | Latest Edition | Previous Edition | Two Editions Back |
|---|---|---|---|
| QS World University Rankings | 2027: #=546 | 2026: #=504 | 2025: #=456 |
| THE World University Rankings | 2026: 401-500 | NA | NA |
| ARWU (Shanghai Ranking) | 2025: 501-600 | 2024: 501-600 | 2023: 501-600 |
| Collegedunia Study Abroad | #388 | NA | NA |
[Source: QS Top Universities, Times Higher Education, ShanghaiRanking, Collegedunia Study Abroad]
By subject, Guelph places #5 in Veterinary Science (QS 2025, first in Canada), #20 in Agriculture & Forestry, and top-100 in Hospitality & Leisure. THE 2026 lists Guelph in Life Sciences at 126-150 worldwide. QS Sustainability 2026 places U of G at #=161 globally, and Maclean’s 2025 ranks Guelph inside Canada’s Top 6 Comprehensive Universities.
Key insight: For an Indian PGWP applicant, an internationally ranked Guelph degree clears IRCC scrutiny cleanly and matches employer shortlists in agri-tech, food science, veterinary practice and Ontario public sector; the QS World number matters less than the subject strength inside your target field.

University of Guelph Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
The University of Guelph does not publish a central placement report the way MBA business schools do; strong career outcomes are reported through the Co-operative Education & Career Services (CECS) office and college-specific placement centres.
- Six-month employment rate: 91% for co-op stream graduates as per Guelph Career Services 2024 disclosures
- Median starting salary: Not centrally disclosed; market median for a Canadian STEM masters sits at C$65,000 to C$75,000 (₹45.18 to ₹52.13 lakh) per year (estimated)
- MBA outcome: Guelph MBA median post-graduation salary C$85,000 (₹59.08 lakh) per year (estimated, market median)
- Sector concentration: Agri-food, veterinary practice, life sciences R&D, Ontario public sector (Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs), banking and consulting (labelled sectors, not confirmed recruiter lists)
- PGWP pathway: Guelph is on IRCC’s PGWP-eligible list — graduates from any programme of 8 months or longer qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit of up to 3 years
Insider note: The CECS office runs Guelph’s co-op programme, where students alternate study terms with paid work placements; Indian applicants in MSc streams often layer this with departmental TA and RA appointments that cut effective tuition, making Guelph one of the lower true-cost STEM masters routes in Ontario.
University of Guelph vs Peer Universities
The peer set below picks Canada’s top comprehensive research universities across QS ranks and cost bands so Indian applicants can triangulate the Guelph decision on rank, tuition and field strength.

|---|---|---|---|
| University of Toronto | #25 | C$62,000 / ₹43.09 lakh (estimated) | Broadest programme suite; strongest Canadian brand |

| University of British Columbia | #38 | C$57,000 / ₹39.62 lakh (estimated) | Pacific coast research; forestry and clean tech depth |
| University of Waterloo | #116 | C$52,000 / ₹36.14 lakh (estimated) | Engineering and CS; largest co-op pipeline in Canada |
| Dalhousie University | #298 | C$28,000 / ₹19.46 lakh (estimated) | Atlantic research heavyweight; marine and ocean sciences |
| University of Guelph | #=546 | C$17,325 to C$57,318 / ₹12.05 to ₹39.84 lakh | #5 world in Veterinary Science; agriculture and food excellence |
[Source: QS Top Universities 2027; peer tuition figures are market medians for international masters]
Note: Guelph stands out for applicants targeting veterinary medicine, agriculture, food science and environmental disciplines, where the university outranks every peer in the table. Its research MSc streams also carry the lowest headline tuition among the six, especially useful for candidates chasing an RA/TA-funded pathway.
The University of Guelph is the right choice for Indian applicants targeting veterinary medicine, agri-food science, animal biosciences or environmental studies, where the #5-world subject rank materially improves recruiter shortlists and PGWP earnings; total four-year investment lands near ₹125 lakh against a Canadian STEM median starting salary of ₹45 lakh, a workable payback for recipients of the automatic international entrance scholarships under Canada’s PGWP pathway.
It is not the pick for applicants chasing MBA-brand prestige, technology-first career pipelines or a large-metropolitan campus scale; the University of British Columbia is often the stronger all-round Canadian alternative if agri-food is not the target sector.
University of Guelph FAQs
Ques. What documents does the University of Guelph need from Indian applicants?
Ans. Undergraduate applicants submit Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets (predicted grades accepted for early review), an English test score, a passport bio-page and a statement of interest for programmes that need one. Graduate applicants add the bachelor’s degree, transcripts, WES ICAP verification, two academic references and a research statement or SOP per department. All documents must be in English or accompanied by a certified translation.
Ques. How does Guelph verify Indian bachelor’s transcripts before admission?
Ans. The University of Guelph requires WES ICAP (Course-by-Course) evaluation for all Indian bachelor’s transcripts. Applicants order the ICAP report on the WES Canada portal, send certified transcripts and provisional/degree certificates from the issuing university, and have the completed report sent directly to Guelph’s Admissions Office. Processing runs 4 to 6 weeks — start the order the same week your marksheet is available so verification never gates the deadline.
Ques. Can University of Guelph students work part-time during their programme?
Ans. Yes. International students holding a valid Canadian study permit may work up to 24 hours per week off-campus during academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks under current IRCC rules. On-campus work has no weekly cap. Guelph’s CECS office lists part-time roles across the library, dining services, research labs and the Ontario Veterinary College — most Indian students combine 10 to 15 hours of part-time work with full-time study.
Ques. Does the University of Guelph require GRE or GMAT for masters admission?
Ans. Most MSc, MEng and Master of Data Science streams at Guelph do not require GRE for Indian applicants; departmental supplementary requirements (research statement, sample of writing) apply per programme, so verify on each department’s page. The MBA at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business does not require GMAT for candidates with 2+ years of qualifying work experience, and the application uses a GMAT-optional review track for Indian applicants.
Ques. What is the University of Guelph application fee for Indian applicants?
Ans. Undergraduate applications route via the OUAC 105 portal, which charges its own base processing fee plus a Guelph-specific supplemental fee assessed on submission. Graduate applications carry a separate university-level fee paid directly to U of G on the online graduate application. Both fees are non-refundable and payable in CAD by international card; Indian applicants should confirm current amounts on the Admissions Office fee page before submission each cycle.
Ques. How does Guelph handle conditional offers for Indian Class 12 students?
Ans. Indian applicants who apply with Class 10 marksheets and predicted Class 12 grades from their school receive conditional offers if they meet the programme academic benchmark and English proficiency. The condition typically requires the final Class 12 board marksheet to reach Admissions by end-June 2027 and to meet or exceed the predicted average. Once verified, the conditional offer converts to an unconditional letter, unlocking the Canadian study permit application.
Ques. Which Indian banks fund education loans for the University of Guelph?
Ans. The University of Guelph is on the recognised university list for most Indian education-loan lenders including SBI, HDFC Credila, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank and non-banking lenders such as Avanse, Auxilo and InCred. Secured loans typically fund up to ₹1.5 crore against collateral; unsecured loans go up to ₹75 lakh for STEM and MBA streams. Applicants should confirm current caps and Guelph-specific interest rates with each lender.
Ques. What are the dependent visa rules for a University of Guelph student’s family?
Ans. Under current IRCC rules, spouses of Guelph graduate students, PhD candidates and some professional-degree students (including DVM) may apply for a Spousal Open Work Permit valid for the study permit’s duration. Spouses of most masters-taught programmes shorter than 16 months and undergraduates typically do not qualify. Dependent children can accompany the student on visitor or study-permit routes; applicants must show proof of funds to cover family living costs, currently roughly C$4,000 per additional adult, per year.

- I was quite late at my application, which missed my chance to get into the university I preferred the most, but I accepted the offer from this university being a reputed one along with its location being in a area where I can found huge Indian community which helped me ease my journey.
- No pressure to study, if you wish to attend the lecture you can or you can leave , you just need to focus on assignments or some in-class exams. So I liked this as studying should never be a compulsion.
Dislikes
- The way of teaching through PPTs is what I dislike about my university or any other Canadian college or university as there should be some better approach.
Overview
Canadian study experience is very different from one back in India. So I won't recommend my university much. Because students basically focus here to complete the masters and get a job to stay back here. If you actually want to study then I recommend getting into much more good university, and if your focus is also to stay here then you can get into this.
Campus Life
Campus life is great at the university with high maintained campus with a university center which helps student meet and study where major food facilities are also available. University keeps arranging workshops and event to engage student so you can take part if you want. Yes all facilities like Wifi, sports, library is great.
Overview
I’ve added SOP, LOR and CV for admission application with inclusion of all past educational achievements and recommendations from professors. The program that I chose, which is MDS, make it it possible for me to become a Data Scientist So far, I’m enjoying and learning with flow, which gives me the confidence to work in industrial fields
Campus Life
It’s a way unexceptional in good manner because my campus all the facilities for their students.
Overview
if you had to submit SoP, LoRs, CV - No never submitted one so I have no knowledge on such topic For the scholarship. Also they offered dual credentials such as a diploma and a degree I do very much enjoy the school and the profs for the most part. I never really found any of the courses that appealing to me but I obviously study it either way and get through it. The students are friendly but not very intelligent as I would have expected
Campus Life
Lots of extra clubs and events on campus, and the library is awesome for studying, except when you sign out textbooks, it's only for 1 week with no renewals or rebooking, which sucks. The wifi is pretty fast.

- I choose this university because I saw the program was really good and it was in a peaceful and Canada's third most safest city Guelph. I personally like peaceful natural cities and guelph is one of them. Moreover this university has a huge diversity and i got opportunity to collaborate with a lot of different people belonging to different nationality apart from Indians.
Overview
Awesome, apart from expensive course I think the course is very well designed program director and all are very supportive and instructors are well versed with awesome campus facilities. so I don't regret taking admission in this university.
Campus Life
Awesome, as I didn't hear much about this university from a lot of students, I was bit skeptical, but I found university to be on par with top university campuses in Canada. Moreover I would say the university has so many good vegetarian food options which is also a plus point. Plus all other facilities are awesome, wifi is very fast, library is my most liked place, sports facilities are enormous.

- My rational for choosing the program was the interesting breakdown of the program. The courses aligned with my interests in being a food industry professional. There were many relatives in Guelph and moving here would help me feel home away from home.
- The amazing people and hostile environment about the University is great to talk about. You get to meet and connect with people from diverse backgrounds and work experiences.
- This platform of knowledge transfer molded me to have better communication and improved social networking in my non-academic life.
Dislikes
- Honestly, there is nothing I like I dislike about the University. A drawback to my transition in the University of Guelph, would be the first snow that was inconvenient while transiting to classes.
- The online classes during COVID period prevented much one on one meetings in person and communication was broken many times.
Overview
I was able to be molded into a professional maturity with a sense of food safety leadership. The experience is life long lasting and can be applied to any food industry in the world.
Campus Life
There are so many social networking events on campus. The exciting part is each ethnic background gets chance and facilities to celebrate their national events!

- Location. Guelph is hub of Mechanical/ automotive industry , and it helped me After my graduation. Within a week I got my field job
- Variety of courses, campus and material availability with good research facilities. There is no specific type that particular course is available for particular course only. We can choose any course we like it's irrelevant of any stream.
Dislikes
- Fees little bit high and they keep increasing it every year. Every semester has different fees, in my opinion it should be same for every sem. If you are doing MENG , it's not that worth compared to MASC.
Overview
UOG is underrated University as it is located in Guelph which is isolated from GTA. My experience was incredible studying at University of Guelph.
Campus Life
Campus is excellent and extracurricular activities are happening giving good experience to bond with locals. There is a football ground, basketball court, gym and other sports with tournaments happening.

I choose this university because I am familiar with it as I had completed my Diploma in Humber College that is opposite to the university building. So, I know the environment and pattern of the study. It is one of the best University in Canada that offers many opportunities for your career.
Fees
I am permanent resident of Canada so my fees less than any international student. My tuition fees is $4634.
Overview
I applied to 4-5 universities based on the rankings. And I only got an offer letter from the University of Guelph hence I had no other options.
Fees
36000-37000 CAD is the program fees.
Overview
Because of the amount of liberty we have in choosing courses in our program. I can choose to take very diverse courses which may or may not contribute to my major or minor. Also in the engineering sciences, there is an emphasis on design which was really intriguing to me.
Fees
After scholarships and deductions, it comes to about 12,000 CAD per semester
