Saveetha Medical College Admission Process

Admission to SMCH MBBS is purely NEET-driven. All 250 MBBS seats are filled through MCC deemed university counselling. There is no direct or walk-in admission. The NEET score and the candidate’s category determine eligibility for the MCC deemed university counselling round.

MBBS Admission

  • Eligibility: 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with at least 50% aggregate (45% for SC/ST/OBC)
  • Age: Minimum 17 years on or before 31 December of the admission year
  • Entrance exam: Valid NEET UG score
  • Counselling: MCC Deemed University NEET UG counselling at mcc.nic.in
  • NEET UG score range (2024): General/EWS marks range 720 to 164
  • Selection stages: NEET rank, choice filling, and allotment through MCC portal

Saveetha Medical College has NEET cutoffs that are more accessible than top government medical colleges given its private deemed status and management of all 250 seats through MCC. Candidates with NEET scores in the 600 to 650 range for the general category are typically competitive for SMCH seats.

MD / MS (Postgraduate) Admission

PG admissions are based on NEET PG score and conducted through MCC PG counselling. All MD and MS seats are under the deemed university pool. The college’s 500+ MD/MS faculty base and 12 super-specialty departments make it competitive for PG aspirants targeting a research-active private medical college in Chennai.

DM / MCh (Super-specialty) Admission

Super-specialty admissions are via NEET SS. Candidates must hold MD or MS in the relevant discipline. Available DM and MCh seats are limited and vary by discipline from year to year.

Saveetha Medical College Placements and Career Outcomes

SMCH graduates primarily pursue NEET PG for postgraduate training in MD or MS programmes. Direct employment after MBBS is less common among Saveetha graduates, as the majority target superspeciality careers through the NEET pathway.

Note: Saveetha Medical College is a private institution. Placement figures (INR 8 LPA highest, INR 4.5 LPA average) are self-reported and include direct employment data. The primary career pathway for MBBS graduates remains NEET PG.
