St. John’s Medical College was established in Bangalore by The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) in the year 1963. The institute ranks among the most prestigious medical educational institutions in the country and it was accorded with a 5-star grading by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and a Review Committee of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

St. John's Medical College offers graduate, postgraduate, diploma and super specialty degrees recognized by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore, KA. 

  • MBBS and MD/MS candidates must apply through KEA counseling after qualifying NEET and PGET respectively.
  • Candidates applying for B.Sc., BPT, M.Sc., PG Diploma, Super-Specialty, and DNB programs must take the Entrance Exam conducted by St. John’s Medical College by applying through the institute admission process.
  • Applications for the St. John’s Entrance Exam can be submitted by contacting the institute.
  • Diploma holders fulfilling the eligibility conditions specified in the ordinance of Allied Health Science Courses are eligible for Lateral Entry to the B.Sc. programs.
  • Candidates who have cleared the MBBS program within not more than two additional years than minimum duration are eligible for the MD/ MS programs.
  • PG candidates must not be over 45 years of age (relaxed for scheduled caste/ tribe candidates by three years).
  • MBBS and MD/MS candidates are selected through KEA counseling.
  • Candidates for B.Sc., M.Sc., BPT, and other PG programs are selected on the basis of marks obtained in St. John’s Entrance Exam.

St. John’s Medical College offers MBBSBPT, and B.Sc. degree programs to eligible candidates at the undergraduate level. 

  • The B.Sc. program is offered in four disciplines, viz. Medical Lab. Technology (MLT), Renal Dialysis (RDT), Medical Imaging Technology (MIT), Perfusion Technology (PT), Anesthesia Technology (AT), Radiotherapy Technology (RT), and Operation Theatre Technology (OTT). 
  • The eligibility criteria for MBBS programs is a pass in 10+2 or equivalent exam with PCB and English. 
  • Candidates are further required to fulfill additional eligibility criteria set by Karnataka Examination Authority. B.Sc. and BPT candidates must pass 10+2 or equivalent exam with 40% marks in science stream.

St. John’s Medical College​ UG Selection Process

MBBS: Admission will be granted on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test UG (NEET-UG) followed by a round of counseling conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).

Allied Health SciencesAdmission will be done on the basis of an entrance exam conducted by the institute followed by an interview.

St. John. Medical College Postgraduate Admission 2021

St. John’s Medical College offers MD and MS degree program with 22 specializations. The institute additionally offers M.Sc. programs in the fields of MLT Biochemistry, MLT Hematology & Transfusion Medicine and MLT Microbiology & Immunology. 

The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the MD and MS programs is an MBBS degree. For admission to M.Sc. programs, candidates must have a B.Sc. degree in Medical Lab Technology with 50% marks. MD and MS candidates are selected on the basis of PGET marks. M.Sc. candidates must qualify the St. John’s Entrance Exam.

MD/MS candidates can apply through KEA counseling after qualifying Karnataka PGET. Candidates aspiring for admission to the M.Sc. programs can contact the institute office for admission purposes. M.D/M.SCandidates must qualify PG- NEET exam to be considered eligible for admission to the M.D/M.S courses. Qualified candidates must appear for the Common Counselling round conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).

DM/M.Ch. Program

Admissions for DM/M.Ch. courses will be done, based on central counseling conducted by the National Board of Examination. Specific details based on the Government directive at the time of admission will be notified on the SJMC website.

Application Process for Medical Counseling

St. John’s Medical College accepts applications from eligible candidates for admission to MBBS and MD/MS programs as per norms set by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). 

Accordingly, candidates must appear for the NEET (National Entrance cum Eligibility Test UG) for MBBS admissions and Karnataka PGET for admission to the MD/MS courses. 

Candidates scoring above the prescribed NEET/PGET cutoff must register with the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for counseling purposes. 

  • Candidates must register themselves by visiting the KEA website.
  • All the applicants to St. John’s Medical College must submit during the KEA Document verification an affidavit.
  • Applicants must also submit the additional documents prescribed by the institute in support of caste/religion for reservation of seats.
  • The candidates are further required to fill up the registration form on the institute website so that they can be updated on any further admission-related developments.
