St. John’s Medical College ranks among the most prestigious medical educational institutions in the country. It was established in 1963 by the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of India. The institute is located in a sprawling 132-acre Koramangala campus in Bangalore, Karnataka. It was accorded with a 5-star grading by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and a Review Committee of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

St. John's Medical College offers graduate, postgraduate, diploma and super specialty degrees recognized by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore, KA. Around 900 students currently undergo training in various Medicine and Paramedical courses offered by the institute. The institute also has its own entrance exam as per a Supreme Court ruling. St. John's Medical College was ranked 14 among medical colleges in India by India Today and 4th in India by Outlook India. It was ranked 3rd among top private medical colleges in India by Careers360 in the same year.

  • MBBS and MD/ MS candidates must apply through KEA counselling after qualifying NEET and PGET respectively.
  • Candidates applying for B.Sc., BPT, M.Sc., PG Diploma, Super-Specialty and DNB programs must take the Entrance Exam conducted by St. John’s Medical College by applying through the institute admission process.
  • Applications for the St. John’s Entrance Exam can be submitted by contacting the institute.
  • Diploma holders fulfilling the eligibility conditions specified in the ordinance of Allied Health Science Courses are eligible for Lateral Entry to the B.Sc. programs.
  • Candidates who have cleared the MBBS program within not more than two additional years than minimum duration are eligible for the MD/ MS programs.
  • PG candidates must not be over 45 years of age (relaxed for scheduled caste/ tribe candidates by three years).
  • MBBS and MD/ MS candidates are selected through KEA counselling.
  • Candidates for B.Sc., M.Sc., BPT, and other PG programs are selected on the basis of marks obtained in St. John’s Entrance Exam.
  • The institute reserves seat for eligible candidates as per KEA and Karnataka State Govt. norms.

St. John’s Medical College – UG Admissions 2019

St. John’s Medical College offers MBBS, BPT and B.Sc. degree programs to eligible candidates at the undergraduate level. The B.Sc. program is offered in four disciplines, viz. Medical Lab. Technology (MLT), Cardiac Perfusion Technology (CPT), Renal Dialysis (RDT) and Medical Imaging Technology (MIT). The eligibility criteria for MBBS programs is a pass in 10+2 or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. Candidates are further required to fulfil additional eligibility criteria set by Karnataka Examination Authority. B.Sc. and BPT candidates must pass 10+2 or equivalent exam with 40% marks in science stream.

Candidates applying for the MBBS program must register through KEA website after qualifying NEET. The application fee can be paid via online modes such as credit/ debit card and net-banking. B.Sc. and BPT candidates may apply through the institute admission process by filling the application form online or contacting the institute office.

  • For admission to B.Sc. Imaging Technology and B.Sc. Radiotherapy Technology programs, the candidate should have passed Pre university OR equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, as principal subjects of study.
  • Candidates who have completed pre university course with Vocational Physiotherapy and their optional subjects are eligible for admission to BPT course.
  • The minimum marks eligibility criteria For Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes of Karnataka State is only 40%.

St. John’s Medical College offers MD and MS degree programs in Anaesthesia, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Dermatology, Microbiology, Paediatrics, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Psychiatry, Radio-Diagnosis, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, General Surgery and General Medicine. The institute additionally offers M.Sc. programs in the fields of MLT Biochemistry, MLT Hematology & Transfusion Medicine and MLT Microbiology & Immunology. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the MD and MS programs is an MBBS degree. For admission to M.Sc. programs, candidates must have a B.Sc. degree in Medical Lab Technology with 50% marks. MD and MS candidates are selected on the basis of PGET marks. M.Sc. candidates must qualify the St. John’s Entrance Exam.

MD/ MS candidates can apply through KEA counselling after qualifying Karnataka PGET. Candidates aspiring for admission to the M.Sc. programs can contact the institute office for admission purpose. St. John’s Medical College offers postgraduate diploma DNB courses in the fields of Anaesthesiology, Child Health, Clinical Pathology, Medical Radio-Diagnosis, Gynaecology, Otorhinolaryngology, ENT, Respiratory Medicine, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neonatology and Urology. The institute also has super-specialty programs in the disciplines of Cardiology, Endocrinology, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care, Paediatric Nephrology, Surgical Oncology, Plastic Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Neurosurgery and Urology. The basic eligibility for admission to the PG diploma and DNB programs is an MBBS degree. Super-specialty programs are offered only to MD and MS degree holders.   • Candidates can apply for any two Postgraduate degree courses and two Postgraduate diploma courses in the same specialties.

Detailed Application Process

St. John’s Medical College accepts applications from eligible candidates for admission to MBBS and MD/MS programs as per norms set by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Accordingly, candidates must appear for the NEET (National Entrance cum Eligibility Test UG) for MBBS admissions, and Karnataka PGET for admission to the MD/ MS courses. Candidates scoring above the prescribed NEET/ PGET cutoff must then register with the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for counselling purpose. The process of registration for centralized KEA counselling is as follows:

  • Candidates must register themselves by visiting the KEA website kea.kar.nic.in.
  • All the applicants to St. John’s Medical College must submit during the KEA Document verification an affidavit undertaking to execute a bond to serve for two years after graduation in a designated hospital or health centre in a medically underserved area of the country.
  • Applicants must also submit the additional documents prescribed by the institute in support of caste/ religion for reservation of seats.
  • The candidates are further required to fill up the registration form on the institute website so that they can be updated on any further admission-related developments. The same has to be done after KEA counselling only.
