While discussing the admission procedure it is important to mention the fee structure and the reservation policies of the college. Both these documents are available at the college website. Out of the entire 1406 seats, a significant number is reserved for various categories (SC/ST/OBC). There are also special quotas for Sports/ECA/PWD/KM.
At the time of the admission, the candidate should pay the stipulated fee, details of which can be found on the official college website. The college offers a fee waiver for physically challenged students, though students with fellowships/financial assistance above INR 8001/- per month will not be entitled to the same. The academic session in Dyal Singh College usually starts by the third week of July.

|B.Sc. (H) Physics, Chemistry||An aggregate of 55% in 3 subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) and a percentage of 50% in one compulsory language|
|B.Sc. Physical Science||An aggregate of 45% or more in 3 subjects (Physics, Chemistry/Computer Science, Mathematics) – Theory & Practical together. Pass one compulsory language (English) with 40% marks.|

For B.A. and B.Com programmes, the merit shall be determined on the basis of one language and three best elective subjects.
For B.A. (Hons.) programmes, if the candidate secures 40% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in the concerned subject then they will be eligible for admission.
Candidates applying for the Mathematics programme should note that their merit will be determined on the basis of one language, Mathematics and two best elective subjects.
