Here in our college for our btech marine engineering we don't require an internship for our degree. As when we pass out we are designated as TME(trainee marine engineer). So our training is given by the placement companies when they recruit as after the completion of our course. The duration for which we are employed in the companies as TME that period is considered as our training only. We are not designated as engineers u til we Complete our 6 months as a TME on board ship.

The college on an average every year has a placement record of 60 %or more in my b tech marine engineering course. The college placement management tries harder and harder every year to place more and more cadets of our college in various shipping companies. For my year a no of companies (WILHELMSEN, MOL, V SHIPS, ELITE MARTIME, BW MARTIME) have already selected a total of 39 students till now out of the 200 students in our batch. And many more are yet to come in the next semester With the help of this college and it's faculties only I am currently placed in a well known shipping company BW MARTIME PVT LTD SINGAPORE. I am happy that iI took the right decision and opted for this college. The college do their best to get their cadets placed before they even Complete their course here.
No, In our course we do not require an internship. But we do go on a industrial visit and a shipyard trip in order to enhance our knowledge and face the coming future. We went to Mahindra motors PVT LTD for our industrial visit. It was very educational as we various combustion engines and machines. For shipyard visit we are yet to go as it is carried out in the last semester. I am currently in my 7th semester. It is scheduled in next semester in February. From the feedback from seniors we know the visit is very educational as well as fun because we always go to Goa for our shipyard visit and as you know Goa is a happening place. With education cadets have fun over the visit.

Many companies visited here like Maersk Tankers, MOL, MOLTA, BW, etc. and placed many cadets every year but they need to recruit more cadets. Yes the college provide assistance to the capable cadets to get placed.
Companies coming for placements are usually foreign based and the college is always inviting new companies to our campus but due to crisis in Merchant navy field currently, placements are lower than what they used to be.
Merchant Navy is going through a rough patch currently due depreciation in trade across the globe. Companies do visit the campus but they are not recruiting on a large scale. Each company coming to this institute is usually recruiting in single digits. Placement cell has been putting crucial efforts in getting maximum amount of placements to their cadets.

One of the Best teaching faculties of this country are here to help and share there knowledge with there students. I chose Manet and opted for BSc. Nautical Science which is one of the course in marine field in deck department to get in the field of merchant navy because this college has its own reputation when it comes to quality education.Along with that it has good infrastructure, friendly environment and always have a scope for students to learn new things in their selected course. Yes, it's a truth that the placement record from few years is not as good as expected. You have to work very hard to get placed. So, the college needs to work in this field. But the faculties there, are very experienced and possess wide range of knowledge. They always try their best in their capacity to help each student tby ADITYA RAI
