SKCET B.Tech FAQs

Ques. Why is the 5-year integrated B.Tech plus M.Tech at SKCET cheaper than a standard 4-year B.Tech in general quota?

Ans. The integrated program’s general quota fee is INR 4,40,000 versus INR 6,40,000 for regular B.Tech. TN fee committee regulations set different ceilings for 5-year programs, making the dual-degree pathway more cost-effective per degree obtained. The trade-off is committing to five years with a fixed specialization from day one. Verify the current fee with SKCET before joining.

Ques. What is B.Tech CS and Systems Engineering at SKCET and how does it differ from B.E. CSE and B.E. Cyber Security?

Ans. CS and Systems Engineering focuses on OS internals, distributed systems, network protocols, and system security, sitting between Cyber Security and standard CSE. Standard CSE focuses on application development. Cyber Security focuses on threats and defense. Systems Engineering graduates suit embedded systems, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps roles. It suits students interested in how computing systems are built rather than writing applications.

Ques. How is B.Tech AI and Data Science at SKCET different from B.E. CSE with AI and Machine Learning at the same college?

Ans. B.Tech AI and DS emphasizes statistics, data pipelines, and analytics under the Anna University AI and DS curriculum. B.E. CSE with AI and ML gives a broader CS foundation with AI electives. Both qualify equally for data analyst and ML engineer applications. For analytics-first roles, the AI and DS label may improve shortlisting at dedicated analytics companies over the broader CSE label.

Ques. Do SKCET B.Tech students have equal access to placement drives compared to B.E. students?

Ans. Yes. B.Tech and B.E. students share the same placement drives at SKCET. Recruiters include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and mid-size product companies. AI and DS and CSBS programs attract some analytics-focused recruiters additionally. There is no structural disadvantage for B.Tech graduates in recruiter access.

Ques. Can SKCET B.Tech CSBS graduates pursue core software development roles or are they limited to business analyst profiles?

Ans. CSBS under Anna University includes programming, databases, software engineering, and business domain subjects. Graduates qualify for software development, business analyst, and product management roles. IT companies treat CSBS equal to CSE at coding drives. For roles requiring deep CS theory, CSE or CS and Systems Engineering gives stronger preparation. For tech-business strategy roles, CSBS is often the sharper fit than standard CSE.
