Remarks :

Good Aspects: Academic Excellence, Highly Qualified and experienced faculties, excellent senior junior relationship, an amazing campus environment, super-friendly alumni association, classroom learning experience, great exposure to industrial activities, record-breaking placements, etc. Bad aspects: peer pressures and competition. Admission to the PGDM programme at Goa Institute of Management is done on the basis of valid scores obtained in the graduation. The selection process is solely based on the score obtained in the XAT/ CMAT/ GMAT exams by the candidates.

Placement Experience :

The institute offers high ROI to its students wherein the institute recorded its highest CTC at INR 25.6 LPA. Around 69 recruiters visited the institute and offered placement offers to the students. Majority of the students got placed under the Consulting, Finance, Operations, General Management sectors in top companies like Amazon, Flipkart, Avendus, Bain and company, Godrej, L&T, and other companies.

Remarks :

Here I got diversity in culture and language. My campus' programs had distinct edge over other management programs in India. My admission process was quite common in nature like I had to clear some GD rounds and personality round, scores of which would be add up with some percentage of my school and graduation's academic record. Apart from that, my admission confirmation took a bit time due to some issues with my documents. My online application cost was 1000 INR. In addition to it, my CAT score was 75 percentile.

Placement Experience :

Year over year, my college had been achieving higher placement rates as compared to the previous one. Companies came over here during my campus drive were Tata advance systems, coffee day beverages, Sama, HP, Reliance general insurance, accenture, Gartner, Sula etc. I had been selected for the post of marketing manager in Tata advance systems, and they offered 10 Lpa during my interview. Well it was obvious to get such packages after investing this much in my self here.

Remarks :

The reason to take admission in GIM is none other than the overall facilities provided here, faculty members, placement records, infrastructure and course curriculum. Now, the admission process of my college is same as the other management colleges. So what all I did was to fill the application form first, then based on my CAT and undergraduate score. I got selected for face to face evaluation process that includes achiever's round and regular round. I cleared those rounds and lastly, the announcement of final result was done after which I took admission.

Admission :

So, when I got shortlisted for the final round, I faced GD round in which I was asked for my views on bitcoin. Along with me, there wese 10-12 candidates. Further when I got selected, I moved for PI round where normal questions were asked to judge my communication skills, analytical abilities, leadership skills.

Ques. GIM or TAPMI: Which one is better for marketing and why?

● Top Answer By Janvi Sheth on 22 Apr 21

Ans. When we talk about a particular field in any college it is like choosing the best fruit among others. But when it comes to marketing it is something that is in demand due to the highly digital surge. Now, whether choosing marketing to pursue from GIM or TAPMI let me make it easy for you. In GIM, marketing is much better as its course structure is designed for a specialized simulation game in Marketing, namely Markstrat. In the past, GIM also has received accolades for its curriculum designed for Marketing. TAPMI and GIM are close and can be compared in so many things. Such as Rankings, placements, roles offered, infrastructure, etc. given below: Particulars GIM TAPMI NIRF Ranking (Overall) 48 27 Fees 17.21 Lacs 15 Lacs Companies Genpact, Godrej, Boyce Co LTD, GTL and Hindustan Unilever, and many. Deloitte, Grant Thornton, HDFC, ICICI, EY, Wipro, Magic bricks and many. Highest Package INR 25.6 LPA INR 25 LPA However, as GIM has a smaller batch size, it defines a very important parameter to choose a college. Both of these colleges will provide you with equal opportunities. But GIM as an add-on will provide you a better campus life. The marketing department of GIM also represents some wonderful faculties from all over the country. Some have Industry experience for over 10 years. The tricks and tips they give about practical marketing won't be found in any book. Moreover, GIM is known for its Marketing curriculum. The institute provides the best case-based theoretical solutions. GIM's Alumni base is present in the Marketing Departments of some of the top companies in India and on a global scale.Read more

Ques. Which is better TAPMI or GIM Goa?

● Top Answer By Kritesh Walia on 22 Apr 21

Ans. Comparison between both of them is not easy. Both of them have their own reasons to stand and flourish for years. While there is a very slight difference that comes out by just having a look but let me help you in comparing better the two supposedly rival institutes. Location: It is almost similar for both institutes. While one is near IT city Bangalore, the other is near the commercial capital. Batch strength: It is certainly an advantage at GIM Goa having almost 60% of the strength of TAPMI Manipal. GIM Goa offers better opportunities with lesser competition to the candidates. Course Fee: It is almost similar with a difference of 1 or 2 Lacs, being relatively lower at GIM Goa. Overall ROI could have been similar again but the lower batch size makes it slightly in favor of GIM Goa; very minute difference though. While even the top B Schools have been hit by the enormous batch size, TAPMI Manipal getting hit is obvious. If you have work experience of 3 years or more you should not be joining either of the two institutes. Because with a load of loans they are going to impose on you and the median earning potential they are going to provide you. You would be in a huge financial debt for at least 5 to 7 years give or take. It is fine for freshers or people with less work experience to join as their opportunity cost and the personal responsibilities awaiting are relatively lesser or counter them after few years of graduating from B School.Read more

Ques. Is it worth doing an MBA from Goa Institute of Management?

● Top Answer By Niharika Sen on 16 Apr 21

Ans. Goa Institute of Management is a Tier – 3 college. The average package that is offered by the college is somewhere around 9 lakhs per annum. Category Goa Institute of Management Ranking #48 by NIRF Total Fee 17.21 lakhs Entrance Mode XAT, GMAT, CAT Companies Visited BMW, JP Morgan, Reliance, etc. Seat Intake 480 Highest Package 25.6 lakhs This completely depends upon your growth in the college and therefore, the numbers might differ. The fee structure is around 17.21 lakhs. But if you look at it through the ROI perspective, it does not look good. If it is considered that a student is shortlisted and feels that they can perform better if they give the Entrance exams one more time, then they should take a drop year. But if a student feels that they are confident enough to grow at GIM, then they can opt for it.Read more

Ques. What is your review of Goa Institute of Management?

● Top Answer By Maliha Fatima on 16 Apr 21

Ans. To rate a specific school, there are five parameters to be seen - Faculty & Curriculum - The curriculum at all the B-schools is more or less similar. The difference lies in the type of faculty. The faculty-student ratio at GIM is 17:1 and the faculty is undoubtedly flattering. Peer Group – The cut-off for GIM’s CAT and XAT is nearly 85-88 marks. This attracts students who have a lot of talent and potential and belong to different backgrounds. The age barrier is not much for GIM as well. Therefore, GIM provides one of the best peers for further studies. Infrastructure – Goa Institute of Management has one of the best campuses across all West India and it is considered as the state of the art. Industry Interaction and Placements – The college offers an average package of almost 9.5 lakhs and the highest package goes up to 25.6 lakhs and that is why the placements seem satisfactory. Alumni -With alumnus settled in different industries with different portfolios, the Goa Institute of Management is considered satisfactory in this aspect too. Other Factors – Goa Institute of Management is accredited by AACSB and it also has an international exchange program collaborated with the University of Antwerp, Warsaw University of Technology Business School, Poland and Hochschule, Germany. GIM also offers an internship which is in collaboration with the University of Antwerp. It is called The Joint International Internship Seminar (JIIS). The intensive Joint International Internship Seminar is a two-week program. This program is held every year in September. Students that belong to Belgium and those of GIM work together on the practical projects in Goa. The program gives an opportunity to the students to have a work experience  GIM also has foreign language courses for its full-time students. These courses are offered in French, Portuguese, German, and Spanish. They are offered in collaboration with Alliance Francaise De Goa, Instituto Camões, Panjim and Indo–German Educational and Cultural Society and Communicare, Goa respectively. Therefore, it can be concluded that GIM is one of the best Tier 3 colleges in India.Read more

Ques. How does the Achiever's round work at Goa Institute of Management?

● Top Answer By Aarohi Mittal on 16 Apr 21

Ans. Achiever’s Round is organized for applicants who have a good profile overall. This does not include CAT/XAT score. The calls for this round are purely based on the profile of the candidates. There are several perks of getting through an Achiever’s round call. This is also called a Score based call. Various perks are – Early interviews are conducted in January instead of late February/March. Students get a chance to grab a 4 lakh scholarship. A lower cut off is needed in CAT/ XAT/ CMAT if you have to convert. Few candidates are offered admission on the spot. Only Goa Institute of Management conducts interviews for Achiever’s Round. There are several types of Interviews conducted - a group interview, a personal interview, and an on the spot admission round interview.Read more
