Placement Experience :

After we are done with our 4th trimester in Aug/Sept, the companies start coming for recruitment. The batch size of K J Somaiya is too large now (550+) so do not get into the trap of the highest and top 10, 20 percent placement thing. The average is around 9.5-10 LPA but then the fixed component is around 7.5 only. Not recommended at all after investing 20 lac rupees.

Remarks :

Location advantage as Mumbai is the hub of business and most of the reputed companies come here for the placements. Best campus and pedagogy in Mumbai. Best fit for Finance and Marketing. Sports facilities. Decent average package.

Placement Experience :

The placements are pretty decent with an average package of approx. 10.5 LPA. The highest package being offered is 28.5 LPA. Some of the top companies visit the campus across all the specialisations. The placements are 100 percent for students who are willing to get placed. I have received an offer for 13 LPA in a startup with a decent role being offered. Final placements start in the month of August. More than 150 companies visit the campus for final placements.

Remarks :

The college has a very good faculty and the overall diversity of students is great. The learning pedagogy makes it unique and experiential learning makes it one of a kind. Placements are great and hence the long term career aspects look great too. This might not be as great as the Top B-schools which are tier 1 but as a tier 2 college, it is really good. Also, Mumbai being the commercial capital of India gives a location advantage to this college. The admission process considers various competitive exam scores like CAT, XAT, CMAT, NMAT & GMAT. Prior workex gives candidates a good advantage for the admissions. Also, performance in CAPI rounds is really important to get into the MBA program. I used the college social media platforms and shiksha.com and MBA360 websites to know about this program. Also, Pagalguy helped me in taking an informed decision.

Reputed companies like Jio Creative Labs, ITC, Venkys, Britannia, and many more visit the campus for offering placements. The average placements for the college are about 12 Lakhs per annum. I plan to take job from campus placement.

Remarks :

K J Somaiya has a large and beautiful campus. The college has a transparent admission process mentioned on the college website along with important dates. I preferred this college because the professors are experienced and discuss case studies to explain the subject.

Placement Experience :

The students become eligible from trim 5 for campus placements. The average package offered is around 10L. The approximate companies that visited the campus were 50-60 and the highest package received in the 2021 batch is 22 lacs p.a. 100% batch is placed for summers as well as for final placements and the role offered is also good.

Remarks :

The college location is its best thing and a huge reason for my preference. Also, this particular course of IMC is held in some top colleges of India like MICA and some IIM's. The faculty holds experience in the industry and in teaching for more than 15 years. The fees although being on a higher end are still being compensated by the activities and the placement they provide. Mainly banks dominate the process and the average Package goes up to 10 L per annum. The best thing about placements is that K J has umbrella placements so the candidate can sit for any role if he fits in the criteria of the company without any requirement of the programme he is in. While admission I preferred quora reviews and getting in touch with seniors on LinkedIn to know more about the college and the programmes

Placement Experience :

A number of reputed companies come for the campus placements - such as the HDFC, Dell, Abbott, Amazon, Bloomberg, Daimler, Nestle, Accenture, GEP Consulting, ITC, etc being some of the prominent recruiters. The highest package recorded is Rs. 29.75 lacs per annum, while the average of about 10 lacs for the final placements.

Remarks :

Located in the suburb of the financial capital of India, the university has shown an excellent placement record in the past. This year as well, with almost 75 percent of students placed in their final placements, and 91 percent students getting their Summer Internship offers, the highest package grabbed by the students is 30 lacs per annum, whereas the highest stipend offered in summer internship is of 80k per month, The average salary in the final placements is 10 lacs per annum. Talking of the curriculum, the university offers Masters in Business Administration in various disciplines - MBA Core, International Business, RM, Financial Services, etc. Almost every faculty member is a Ph.D. with corporate experience. Also, we have a lush green campus spread across 55 acres with academic buildings, hostel. The university also has study rooms that are open even at night and the night mess. Libraries are also there on the premises and there is a huge race track for the athletes to cherish.

Ques. Which will be better, KJ Somaiya PGDM Core or IMI Delhi PGDM for Finance?

● Top Answer By Aarushi Kalra on 22 Apr 21

Ans. IMI Delhi is a better option than KJ Somaiya. And here are some of the supporting reasons for the same. IMI Delhi is a premier global management institution. It has climbed the ladder of success from the past 40 years. IMI Delhi has been ranked 28 for MBA by NIRF 2020. IMI Delhi offers programs in post-graduate management and doctoral courses in various specializations. It also has international linkages with many global institutions across the USA, Europe, Russia, China, and Pakistan. There are two specializations in the flagship program of PGDM- PGDM HRM and PGDM B&FS. It is AICTE approved and accredited by NBA and AMBA. The curriculum followed in IMI Delhi focuses on imparting functional and specialized knowledge. This helps in making a strong base among students. It imparts a global perspective and incorporates leadership skills in them. The course has learning objectives such as problem framing, problem-solving, critical thinking, and written and oral communication. The students of IMI Delhi are well-groomed to innovate their academic learning and enhance their extracurricular activities as well. The location of IMI Delhi serves as an advantage. Ques. Is it worth doing an MBA from KJ Somaiya?

● Top Answer By Anil Tigga on 16 Apr 21

Ans. When pursuing an MBA, it is important to do it from the top 20 colleges, or not do it at all. And so, KJ Somaiya definitely does not fall in the top 20 colleges of India. However, it is one of the best that exists in Mumbai. So, if you feel that you can get into the top 20 colleges in the next year, then you should wait for it. On the other hand, if you are sure that you would not be able to make it, then it is important to question yourself as to what is your motive behind doing an MBA. Like everyone, you have the same motive that is – a good job and a good package, then KJ Somaiya would not be a great option. You will have to get admitted to the top colleges and stay there to get a decent salary. Category KJ Somaiya Ranking #56 by NIRF Total Fee 16.21 lakhs Companies Visited Quikr, Hindustan Unilever, etc. Seat Intake 720 Highest Package 29.75 lakhs As per the current scenario for MBA graduates, the supply far exceeds the demand of good-paying jobs. Therefore, it is advisable to rethink if you wish to do an MBA. If you still get yes as an answer and take up KJS, then you will have to put in a lot of hard work and loads of effort in the long run and that too, for a long time. You will reach where you want to but through a much longer route.  Read more

Ques. How difficult is it to get into KJ Somaiya for MBA?

● Top Answer By Keshav Jindal on 16 Apr 21

Ans. K J Somaiya is considered to be one of the most sought and finest B-schools. This is major because of its fees, location as well as the placements offered by them. A CAT percentile of around 90 is considered good enough to get a call from them. But the real challenge that students face is after they get the call. Out of all the B-schools, K J Somaiya is one of those few that emphasize a student’s SOP.  Apart from this, it also considers a student’s past academics and extracurricular achievements to judge their chances of selection. But as per their recent brochure, it seems that they have changed their focus to Group Discussion. A 50% weightage is given to CAT/XAT scores and the factors stated above and apart from this, students will be grilled through an extempore and a personal interview round. Therefore, it is suggested to start preparing for GD and PI because no matter how good or bad your academics are, they cannot be changed but one can always work on these aspects. If you think you will get a good CAT score, then a good performance in GD and PI would fetch you your desired call. And hence, it would not be that difficult.Read more

Ques. Is a KJ Somaiya PGDM worth it after 4 years of work experience and a decent package at an MNC?

● Top Answer By Supriya Sarkar on 16 Apr 21

Ans. After 4 years of experience with a decent package at an MNC, pursuing MBA from KJ Somaiya would not be a great choice.  Category KJ Somaiya Ranking #56 by NIRF Total Fee 16.21 lakhs Companies Visited Quikr, Hindustan Unilever, etc. Seat Intake 720 Highest Package 29.75 lakhs To qualify this fact, here are a few pointers below – A lot of it revolves around the specialization that you would choose. For instance, in the domain of Finance and HR, things are very difficult. A lot of companies have criteria for ‘maximum work experience’. Therefore, you would have a very less chance of getting shortlisted in them. Such firms also exist in the domain of marketing. In the domain of IT or technical, this much work experience will help you in getting better packages and designations, if only you have worked with similar roles earlier. IT is considered as the savior in Tier 2 colleges and hence, it absorbs a lot of people. The package that you will be offered would be more or less the same to you, as it would be to the freshers. The package would fall somewhere around 7–8 lakhs per annum. This package is not quite enough for someone who already has work experience of 4 years. A lot of students find it unjust to be paid the same as those who have no experience in the domain. Therefore, it can be concluded that those with a work experience of 4 years would have a better chance trying for colleges like ISB or those abroad.Read more
