170 recruiters participate in the process. 99% of the students get placed. The average package offered is Rs.10.05 lakhs CTC. The highest package offered is Rs. 27.05 lakhs CTC. The majority of students (31%) students are placed in the banking sector. Major recruiters include Asian Paints, ET, Croda, HUL, Grofers, PwC, Puma, Book my show etc.
KJ Somaiya is one of the best institutes in India. The faculty is very helpful. The building is very modern. It offers many specializations- Few of them have 120, 240, 60 and 30 seats. I preferred this college due to its location.
After we are done with our 4th trimester in Aug/Sept, the companies start coming for recruitment. The batch size of K J Somaiya is too large now (550+) so do not get into the trap of the highest and top 10, 20 percent placement thing. The average is around 9.5-10 LPA but then the fixed component is around 7.5 only. Not recommended at all after investing 20 lac rupees.
Location advantage as Mumbai is the hub of business and most of the reputed companies come here for the placements.
Best campus and pedagogy in Mumbai. Best fit for Finance and Marketing. Sports facilities. Decent average package.
The placements are pretty decent with an average package of approx. 10.5 LPA. The highest package being offered is 28.5 LPA. Some of the top companies visit the campus across all the specialisations. The placements are 100 percent for students who are willing to get placed. I have received an offer for 13 LPA in a startup with a decent role being offered. Final placements start in the month of August. More than 150 companies visit the campus for final placements.
The college has a very good faculty and the overall diversity of students is great. The learning pedagogy makes it unique and experiential learning makes it one of a kind. Placements are great and hence the long term career aspects look great too. This might not be as great as the Top B-schools which are tier 1 but as a tier 2 college, it is really good. Also, Mumbai being the commercial capital of India gives a location advantage to this college. The admission process considers various competitive exam scores like CAT, XAT, CMAT, NMAT & GMAT. Prior workex gives candidates a good advantage for the admissions. Also, performance in CAPI rounds is really important to get into the MBA program. I used the college social media platforms and shiksha.com and MBA360 websites to know about this program. Also, Pagalguy helped me in taking an informed decision.
Reputed companies like Jio Creative Labs, ITC, Venkys, Britannia, and many more visit the campus for offering placements. The average placements for the college are about 12 Lakhs per annum. I plan to take job from campus placement.
K J Somaiya has a large and beautiful campus. The college has a transparent admission process mentioned on the college website along with important dates. I preferred this college because the professors are experienced and discuss case studies to explain the subject.
The students become eligible from trim 5 for campus placements. The average package offered is around 10L. The approximate companies that visited the campus were 50-60 and the highest package received in the 2021 batch is 22 lacs p.a.
100% batch is placed for summers as well as for final placements and the role offered is also good.
The college location is its best thing and a huge reason for my preference. Also, this particular course of IMC is held in some top colleges of India like MICA and some IIM's. The faculty holds experience in the industry and in teaching for more than 15 years. The fees although being on a higher end are still being compensated by the activities and the placement they provide. Mainly banks dominate the process and the average Package goes up to 10 L per annum.
The best thing about placements is that K J has umbrella placements so the candidate can sit for any role if he fits in the criteria of the company without any requirement of the programme he is in.
While admission I preferred quora reviews and getting in touch with seniors on LinkedIn to know more about the college and the programmes
A number of reputed companies come for the campus placements - such as the HDFC, Dell, Abbott, Amazon, Bloomberg, Daimler, Nestle, Accenture, GEP Consulting, ITC, etc being some of the prominent recruiters. The highest package recorded is Rs. 29.75 lacs per annum, while the average of about 10 lacs for the final placements.
Located in the suburb of the financial capital of India, the university has shown an excellent placement record in the past. This year as well, with almost 75 percent of students placed in their final placements, and 91 percent students getting their Summer Internship offers, the highest package grabbed by the students is 30 lacs per annum, whereas the highest stipend offered in summer internship is of 80k per month, The average salary in the final placements is 10 lacs per annum. Talking of the curriculum, the university offers Masters in Business Administration in various disciplines - MBA Core, International Business, RM, Financial Services, etc. Almost every faculty member is a Ph.D. with corporate experience. Also, we have a lush green campus spread across 55 acres with academic buildings, hostel. The university also has study rooms that are open even at night and the night mess. Libraries are also there on the premises and there is a huge race track for the athletes to cherish.
The placements in our college are up to the mark. We have elite recruiters visiting our college even in pandemic despite being a tier 2 B-School. Campus placement begins around 1 month after the beginning of 2nd year.
Companies visiting include Amazon, Odessa, HCL, ITC, Citi Bank, HDFC Bank, GEP, JP Morgan, EY, Deloitte, Nielsen, SBI, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, etc offering roles such as research analyst, consultant/senior consultant, sales lead, associate analyst, business analyst, management trainees, etc.
As of now, around 75% of students are placed and I am sure it will go up to 98-99% by the end of our course.
I plan to join a reputed Market Research firm once I get a degree. I was placed through campus placements.
Our highest CTC offered was around 30 LPA while the average is around 10 LPA
I did not appear for CAT or any other major entrance exams except for CMAT and CET.
I got KJ Somaiya through CAP rounds of CET and this was the best college I was allotted hence took admission in KJ SIM
The admission process for MMS is very simple i.e. there is no GD or PI. You get admission purely on the basis of marks secured by you in the exam and a merit list is generated. The student has to fill the college preference after which allotment takes place.
Points that I like:
1. Decent peer group
3. Placements (some very renowned recruiters come regularly for recruitment every year)
4. Brand Name. KJ SIM is a renowned college in India.
5. Campus Space - We have a huge 60 Acre Campus
6. College Events etc
The thing I feel can be improved:
1. Trimester System feels a bit cramped up. The last 2 trimesters will feel like studying just for the sake of it.
2. Bring in more guest lecturers
3. Reduce some subjects. Some subjects feel like being forced on us
KJ SIMSR is a top tier 2 college of MBA located in the financial capital so it has a great location advantage. It had a great alumni network and a very good overall crowd. Its fees is also less than its competitors Bschools. Top companies such as JP morgan, Morgan stanley, Marsh Insurance, Accenture, Infosys etc.
The break out of weightage for the selection process was- 35% test score, 17% personal interview, 25% for group discussion, 5% for work ex, rest for past academic scores. The GD had case study based on different situations generally we come across in a corporate job. The PI is generally knowing about you. Most important question is Tell me about yourself. No hardcore questions were asked related to my engineering.
From semester 1 itself, students are eligible for summer internships with companies like DE Shaw, Acresium, JP Morgan and Chase, Marsh coming in with various profiles. The highest stipend offered is 1.45 lacks an average being about 25 thousand.
From trimester 4 onwards you become eligible for Final placements. About 160-170 companies come in total for the placement process and the highest package is about 28 lakhs and average about 10 lakhs is offered. Almost 90-95 percent of the students are placed.
The college is situated in Ghatkopar East, Mumbai which is the financial capital of India. It has various infrastructural facilities like Bloomberg labs, WIFI all throughout the lush green campus, hostel facilities for outstation students, accomplished faculties, since being under the Somaiya Vidyavihar University, it provides MBA degree instead of PGDM which gives the college am an upper hand, instead of its other competitors like Welingkar. In order to secure your seat in the college, you can give various entrance exams like CAT, XAT, CMAT etc. Post that you have to fill the college application form and await the cut off lists for GDPI process according to your score in the exams. Post that around Feb. March the GDPI process begins and around April/May the merit list is out based on your overall performance in the Entrance exam, GDPI, Work experience and Past Academics.

Ques. Is it worth it to study for an MBA in tier 3 colleges like TAPMI, BIM, or KJ Somaiya?
● Top Answer By Apoorv Ankur on 30 May 21
Ans.The worthiness of institutes cannot be judged as such, which is dependent on several factors like placement, academics, faculties, etc. Some of the key factors of judgment are listed below which would help you make a decision.
TAPMI has some decent academic facilities, faculties, and a proper environment. The institute creates an atmosphere for decent learning.
If you go for these tier-3 institutes, you need to take two main aspects into account.
Get properly accustomed to your own credentials and profile. The institute helps the candidate to figure out their level of competency.
How far you want to go in life. Because growing in life needs hard work and dedication.
Tier-3 institutes cannot provide top-notch placement. Mostly, the profiles offered are some areas in sales, which is not desirable to many.
2.97 - 16.29 lakh
Nestle, Capgemini, Godrej, Citi, etc.
HUL, Asian paints, Godrej, EY, etc.
Jaro Education, Calvin klein, ICICI Bank, Outlook, etc.
In the case of Holy Trinity and some other top colleges, this is not the same. These institutes offer substantially high-salary jobs, which is the actual competition.
Therefore, it is definitely worth studying in these tier-3 institutes, provided the candidate is serious about his profile, career, and preparation.Read more
