Kerala University Distance Education was started in 1976, as a research and teaching department of the university, has been one of the colonist Centre of distance education in the state. Kerala University Distance Education offers 25 programs, which include UG and PG courses, through the distance mode of education under the departments of literature, Commerce, Science, Humanities, Library & IT, and Information Sciences. English is the medium of instruction for all the courses at the University of Kerala distance education except for a few language courses.

  • Candidates are always shortlisted on the basis of the merit in degree examination after qualification.
  • Candidates who are seeking admission for the undergraduate course should have passed 10+2 level examination.

Kerala University Distance Education UG Admission 2020

The University of Kerala offers various undergraduate programs in a variety of streams of Science, Commerce and Arts which enables the needful and the eligible candidate to acquire professional education apart from their earning. For admission to all the undergraduate courses (except BLISc), it is compulsory that the candidates are required to pass 10+2 from a recognized board of education.

The Selection of candidates will be done on merit basis obtained by the candidate in the qualifying exam. Applications can be easily submitted easily through the online portal of SDE, Kerala university.

The University of Kerala offers various postgraduate programs in a variety of streams of Science, Commerce, and Arts which enables the needful and the eligible candidate to acquire professional education apart from their earning. For admission to all the postgraduate courses, it is compulsory that the candidates are required to have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. All the PG courses except M.L.I.Sc are of 1-year duration.

The Selection of candidates will be done on merit basis obtained by the candidate in the qualifying exam. Applications can be easily submitted easily through the online portal of SDE, Kerala university.

Kerala University Distance Education PG Selection Criteria

  • Admission for distance education Programs Prospectus can be easily obtained from the office of the School of Distance Education after Payment of Rs.250/- by Friends/DD (SBI)/University Cash Challan Receipt.
  • The receipt number and counterfoil provided while online registration should be retained.
  • Candidates who are residing in a foreign country will have to submit a DD of INR 265/- in addition. Each Bank Draft amount should carry an additional amount of Rs. 10/- for service charge. Admission notifications are usually issued in leading national and regional dailies.
  • Very detailed information regarding admission is available on the website of the University of Kerala http://www.ideku.net or on the University Website www.sde.keralauniversity.ac.in.
  • Students who are seeking admission shall apply online only. the Facility of Online registration for admission is provided through www.ideku.net or www.sde.keralauniversity.ac.in
  • None of the students shall be eligible for the admission to a First- Degree Program in any of the subject unless he/she has successfully completed, the exam which is conducted by a Board/University at the +2 level of schooling or its equivalent
  • There should be a minimum of 10-16 days of PCP in a semester distributed over a minimum period of 5-8 weeks and a minimum of 60 hours of instruction ordinarily.
  • Odd semester (June - Oct) shall commence in June and Even semester (Nov - March) shall commence in November every year.

Ans The following are the steps to fill the Online Application form:

Step 1: Before you fill the Online Application form, properly read the instructions very carefully before you fill the application form.

Step 2: Remit the Amount of prospectus.

Step 3: Then log in to the official website of the Kerala University.

Step 4: A new page will come up then tap on the link “Online Admission for Academic Year 2020-21”

Step 5: Then click on the Registration option to start for Online Registration.

Step 6: Then login with your individual application number and then enter the password provided to you during the registration.

Step 7: Get a print out of the Application form for future use.

Step 8: In the end, after you fill the application form send the form along with fee receipts such as the prospectus, First-semester fee, along with DDF, application fee, and other fees applicable for the course opted.

Note: Applicants belonging to SC/ST/OEC category should show the print out of E-grants

Ans. You should constantly keep a check on the SDE website (ideku.net) which is usually updated every day. Results and examination announcements will appear first on the University website (Kerala university.ac.in). Then go for a daily press release which can be easily found on the university website and also carry important announcements. Leading dailies will also carry our announcements in the University News section.

Ques. When will the admission UG/PG programs in SDE Kerala University start?

Ans. Most probably the Registration Process Starts during June or July every year.
