Perhaps this is the only dark spot in the otherwise excellent college. An exorbitant amount is charged in the name of placement training and registration fees. The trainers who come lack proper knowledge of English. The recruiters generally do not take up students from three-year law course. The placement records are bad and there are rumours of nepotism on part of coordinator, but then again no comments on the same
The college does provide internship opportunities but you have to register for the same. The internships to the deserving students are offered at reputed companies and firms on the recommendation of internship in charge. There are rumours that it is biased but I have neither good nor bad experience from the same. The stipend is at the discretion of the firm which offers the internship.
ONGC, Desai and Diwanji, Rustomjee & Rustomjee, Price Water House, Reliance, RIM, Krishna and Saurashtri and many more companies came for placements. In our year, there was 65% placements.
We had quite a number of Companies that came to recruit students for placements and internships. Law firms from Mumbai, Pune and the rest of Maharashtra as well as companies come in for placements.
Not everybody opts for placements. At a rough estimate 75% of people appearing for placements were placed. ICICI Bank , Paras Kuhaad Law firm, Majmudar & Co, etc were some of teh Companies that came. As it has been 10 years it is difficult to remember more than this.
We were encouraged to intern and gain experience .It was compulsory for us to intern one full season with a practicing advocate. This helped us understand the procedural functioning of Courts in India. We also got an insight into the life of a lawyer. When I look back I feel they were a great learning experience. There is no fixed stipend. Individual lawyers generally donot pay interns. Companies can pay anything between Rs 5000 to Rs 12000/- .
ONGC offered 20,00,000 last year, Many other companies offer packages above 5,00,000 .
I am unaware of any such internship stipends.
Decent if opting for non-law firm optionsVery few law firms visit our college and their criteria is so high that barely 1% would be selected thereout of 12 who had applied during our times some 30-50 people were placed. Highest package was 16 lacs Companies/ Law firms which visited our College during that time Thomas Reuiters, ONGC, Wipro, Mahindra etc.
I did three internships at law firms during my Course. If you are opting for litigation kindly dont expect any stipend what soever. If you are inclined towards other non-litigation jobs then there are chances of lucrative stipends and salaries.
Many of my colleagues were placed in some prestigious organisations. Separate classes and seminars are conducted to train students for placements. These classes and seminars are jointly organised by Facilities with the help of volunteers (students). Students here are groomed for interviews and future jobs. These seminars usually take place from 2nd year for llb students and 4th year for ba.llb students. During the last year many renowned companies regularly visit the college. Many ILS students are ppart of many
Not provided in college. Many students engage in internship fron the college between to semesters. ILS students do get internship pretty easily. Doing internship does add value to the CV of the students. Recommendations are provided by the faculties, if required.
Placement cell was superb. They had invited big law firms as well as large corporates. The facility provided to students was very nice and each student was guided how to face interviews and appear for group discussions. This helped me a lot in achieving good scores.
Yes the college provides internships. The general stipend provided that time was around 5,000 to 10,000 per month.Internship arrangements was very good and helpful.
Companies and good firms come to the college with good packages, if you have the skills, you will definitely get placed. the job opportunities are always there, only the student need to work.
I wasnot much interested in the internships. So, i didnt intern any where till now.
