Ques. Should I go for an integrated PhD or an M.Tech at IIIT Allahabad?

● Top Answer By Susmita Pahadi on 02 Jul 21

Ans. It depends on your future plan. If you want to teach, then go for an integrated Ph.D. degree instead of an MTech from any institute. It will save you 1 year.  However, if you want a career in research then do a Mtech first and then go for your Ph.D. You can get your Ph.D. from other better institutes like some IIT.  An integrated Ph.D. will take a minimum of 6 years to complete. Getting the award depends a lot on your performance and your mentor. If your mentor is happy with your performance, you can get your degree done within 5 years too.  On the other hand, doing an M.Tech and a Ph.D. separately will take at least 7 years.  So, consider all these factors and choose what’s best for you.Read more

Ques. What are the placement opportunities in IIIT Allahabad for MTech?

● Top Answer By Anindita Mukherjee on 20 Mar 21

Ans. I have been carefully observing the fate of Indian MTech degree holders for the last 5 years. And as per my observation and research, most of them remain jobless and nothing would happen to India and the world if no more MTech degree holders are produced from any Indian engineering college henceforth. MTech is a scam sold in India to keep running the GATE coaching industry. Most of the MTech degree holders in India remain jobless and have to find jobs in some different fields. All such colleges do not reveal their placement statistics as they are not good including IIIT Allahabad. Only intelligent students are allowed to sit for placements of a few good companies. There is literally zero demand for MTech degree holders in the industry. The only use of the GATE exam to get into PSUs. Most of the MTech degree holders recruited from some of the top Indian engineering colleges are fired after a few months and they are never advertised in the media. All and all, Pursuing MTech is a waste of time, money, and resources. If you want to get a decent placement, you should opt for another course.Read more

Ques. Is IIIT Lucknow a good option for doing an M.Tech or not?

● Top Answer By Vipul Singh on 18 Mar 21

Ans. The M.Tech program in Computer Science (CS) at IIIT Lucknow is worth considering if you cannot get into other similar institutions such as IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Bangalore, IIIT Allahabad, NIT Warangal, NIT Trichy, and NIT Karnataka. Though the M.Tech program started only in 2019, companies such as Google, Microsoft, Directi, LinkedIn, Codenation, etc. visit the campus for placements of B.Tech students. So if you are skilled enough, it does not really matter if you are a B.Tech or M.Tech student. The placement records of B.Tech graduates suggest that they are comparable to NIT Calicut, NIT Rourkela, and IIIT Allahabad graduates.  In fact, looking at the NIRF data of colleges such as IIIT Allahabad, it is clear that M.Tech students are more in demand in the industry due to lack of quality students along with their added research experience in the field. The curriculum of the course is also very well designed, offering specializations in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. These are the most demanding subjects in the industry currently and if you study well enough, securing a job should not be difficult. As this is a new course, you will not get the alumni advantage, the first batch is yet to pass-out, you could still connect with your B.Tech alumni as well as alumni from IIIT Allahabad (both the colleges were on the same campus until very recently).  Alternatively, you could also hang out with your B.Tech peers and learn from them as well, because they have a very well-laid-out course structure along with a very competitive culture in coding.  You should also consider studying with the PhDs as the knowledge and in-depth research they conduct in areas such as Machine learning will eventually help you to get a competitive advantage. So all in all, IIIT Lucknow is a very good option for doing an M.Tech which will sharpen your skills and prepare you for the journey ahead.Read more

Ques. Which is better For CSE, Individual Btech and Mtech in Alliance University, Bangalore or Integrated (Btech + Mtech) in LPU, Punjab?

● Top Answer By Bhakti Singh on 29 Jan 21

Ans. LPU has great student reviews. According to most of the reviews, LPU offers lucrative career growth, placements, well-equipped technologies, space, and a wide-spread alumni network. But Alliance University has a locational advantage.  Winning facts about Alliance University: Alliance university could be a better option because it is located in Bangalore thus as the student gets graduated they are free to spread their wings. Within the 4 years of the course, you will get to know the place well. You can get in touch with many tech companies and complete internships and more stuff like that to have real-life work exposure. Also, you don't have to go anywhere outside Bangalore for jobs as you will be already in the Cyber hub itself. The table below gives a brief insight into the two institutes. Basis LPU, Punjab Alliance University, Bangalore Highest CTC INR 42 LPA INR 10 LPA- INR 14 LPA No. of Recruiters 800+ 380+ Choosing Alliance University between the two given choices will be a better decision.Read more

The major companies visiting the campus for recruitment are Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Morgan, Stanley, Samsung, Apple, Oracle, JP Morgan, Flipkart, Myntra, and many more. Mass recruitment happened for the CS department. As per past 3-4 years records the major Job profile offered were: Research Engineer, Software Engineer, and Data Science Analyst.  The table given below shows the salary range offered to the students placed in reputed companies: CTC Range Highest CTC 35-40 Lacs Lowest CTC 10-15 Lacs Average and median CTC 20-25 Lacs For the 2018 batch, the Highest CTC offered was 38.10 LPA, lowest stood for 10 LPA, Average 22.7 LPA and Median 22 LPA.
