TUHH Eligibility for Indian Students

TUHH sets one institutional floor and then lets each programme add subject prerequisites. Academic thresholds and English scores below are the minimum. Indian applicants must also clear the APS (Academic Evaluation Service) certificate from the German embassy in New Delhi before applying.

• PG general entry: Bachelor’s degree at 60 percent or higher in a relevant engineering, computer science, or science discipline.
• UG general entry: Class XII at 65 percent plus one year of a recognised Indian Bachelor’s or a Studienkolleg foundation year, since Indian schooling is 12 years against Germany’s 13.
• English (Master’s): IELTS Academic 6.5 overall, TOEFL iBT 90, Cambridge CAE/CPE, or telc English C1.
• German (Bachelor’s and German Master’s): TestDaF 16 points (with no test part below 3) or DSH-2.

TUHH IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

TUHH’s official language rule exempts applicants whose degree is from the UK, USA, Canada (except Quebec), Australia, New Zealand, or Ireland. Indian applicants who studied entirely in India do not qualify for this waiver and must submit IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 90. TUHH does not accept a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter from an Indian university as substitute proof, and the TOEFL ITP paper test is also not accepted.

TUHH Hamburg PG Programs and English Scores

All English-taught Master’s below run for 4 semesters (2 years) and carry zero base tuition as public programmes, with only the semester contribution of EUR 341 to EUR 386 (INR 37,800 to INR 42,790). G-TIME fee exception: First-year tuition is EUR 6,500 (around INR 7.21 Lakhs) followed by partner-institution fees in year two. Every other Master’s above is tuition-free.

TUHH Hamburg UG Programs and German Requirements

TUHH Bachelor’s programmes are taught entirely in German, so an Indian applicant needs strong German proficiency (TestDaF 16 or DSH-2) and, in most cases, a Studienkolleg foundation year to bridge the 12 vs 13 year schooling gap. English-only applicants should look at TUHH Master’s instead.

Applications for Bachelor’s programmes open on 1 June 2027 and close on 15 July 2027 for the Winter Semester 2027/28 intake.

Hamburg University of Technology PhD Admissions

TUHH runs its doctoral training through the TUHH Graduate Academy. There is no institutional application deadline because PhD entry is supervisor-led, so you first secure a research group and then formalise the enrolment via STUDIS.

2026 update: The federal blocked-account minimum was raised to EUR 11,904 for admissions from October 2025 onwards, and Indian consulates now expect this exact figure rather than the older EUR 11,208.
