The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) recently announced that Centres of Excellence in Cybersecurity will no longer be established in any institutions.

Previously, Engineering was going to be installed with CoEs as part of the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP)

However, AICTE has now cancelled this decision by releasing a notice as per the revised guidelines issued by the National Project Implementation Unit (NPIU)

The process of establishing the Centres of Excellence was earlier halted in order to resume when the NPIU guidelines would be issued after being revised. The guidelines were then finalized and implemented by the AICTE.

According to the revised guidelines, the use of GeM (Government e-Marketplace) and also CPP (Central Public Procurement) portal will be necessary for any procurement under TEQIP-III.

Due to this, establishment of centres of excellence has been called off by the AICTE.
