The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has reported a sharp rise in 2026 counselling admissions. The board recorded 27,599 admissions this year. In 2025, the figure stood at 15,729. This marks a year-on-year jump of 75.4%.
The data was shared by West Bengal Higher Education Minister Jagannath Chattopadhyay on X. The increase amounts to 11,870 additional admissions over 2025. The figures cover undergraduate engineering and pharmacy courses admitted through wbjeeb.nic.in.
Admissions through the West Bengal Centralised Admission Portal (WBCAP) also rose sharply. So did the West Bengal Decentralised Admission Portal (WBDAP). Combined undergraduate admissions on both portals reached 3,92,227 in 2026. The 2025 figure was 2,61,692. This marks a year-on-year rise of 49.9%.
