Delhi Govt. to Set Up Its Own Education Board, Two Committees to Build Proposal

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has recently announced that Delhi will have its own education board by next year.

While the Delhi Govt would constitute a state-level school board, but it will not be imposed on the Government Schools and they will be free to choose the course curriculum that they want to follow.

The new education board will be developed in line with the guidelines of the National Education Policy 2020. One of the major features of the new board will be that, it will lay special focus on continuous evaluation and not year-end exams.

Setting Up of Committee to Develop Proposal

Manish Sisodia, Delhi Deputy CM has informed that the Delhi Government had appointed two committees who have been given the charge to build a proposal for setting up of the board and the educational reforms that it plans to implement as part of it.

The board will be responsible for proposing curriculum reforms which help in the holistic development of students and prepare them for future challenges.

New Education Board to be Operational by 2021

As per Manish Sisodia, the new education board is likely to be operational by the next academic year.

Initially, the government target around 40 schools which will be affiliated to the new board, which will follow the revised course curriculum and the teaching pedagogy.

Moreover, the affiliation to the new board will not be imposed on the gov’t schools unlike other states; instead, schools from both govt and private schools would be invited to be part of the board on a voluntary basis.
