Delhi University's (DU) admission process under the second cut-off list begins today, October 19, with the Principals saying that they are all prepared for the process after the first round.

Students complained that they had experienced technical problems, problems with paying fees during the first round of admission.

DU announced its second cut-off list on Saturday, with many popular courses closed for admissions and some of the courses seeing a slight drop in cut-offs.

The process of admission to the second list will end on October 21, 2020.

Students will also be able to cancel or withdraw their admissions and move to another college if they meet the cut-off.

Anu Srivastava, principal of Hindu College, said, “We are all geared up and we are good to handle a huge rush. There is no such issue of any change in the process and we are coordinating with the admission branch. We still have to fill Commerce and Economics seats, while there are 10 courses which have already been filled up.

The Cutoff for BA (Honours) Philosophy at Hindu College remained unchanged at 97%.

The college principal said they were almost full and had only one or two seats left.

Manoj Khanna, Principal of Ramjas College, said that they learned from the shortcomings of the first cut-off, and the college focuses on science courses, where seats are still vacant.

The colleges are also expecting withdrawal in admissions with the release of  NEET Results 2020.

"We saw seats being filled for BSc (Honours) Zoology, which would not have happened before. Even the BSc programme combination with Electronics has been completed in the first list, which is for the first time, "Khanna said.

Almost 50% of the seats were filled in the first list this year as compared to last year’s count of 24,000

Officials have attributed the substantial increase in admissions this year to the admission process being online and giving many outstation students the opportunity to apply while sitting comfortably of their homes.

Admissions under the second list will begin on Monday at 10 AM and will end on October 21.

The admission process is being held entirely online this year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
