A three-month Certificate Course on Patent has been launched by the Research Council of Delhi University on May 17, 2023.
New Delhi: The Research Council of Delhi University has launched a three-month Certificate Course on Patent on May 17, 2023 (Wednesday), with an aim to familiarize the students with various forms of Intellectual Property Rights.
The application deadline for the course is June 10, 2023, and the program will begin on July 1, 2023 and will terminate on September 30, 2023 for the first cohort of students.
A hybrid learning approach will be used for the 48 online and 12 offline hours of the course. On Saturday and Sunday, two hours of classes will be held (for each day). The DU certificate programme will be offered in various batches each year, with a maximum enrollment of 300 students for every cohort.
DU Patent Certificate Program: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates seeking admission to DU Patent three-month certification program must check the following eligibility norms before applying for the program:
- Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline or must have passed class 12th examination in any stream from a recognized board.
- If a candidate has passed class 12th only then they will be required to submit the documents of certified interest in innovation or invention or startup.
In the presence of DU students, the course was introduced in the academic section of the institution. The principal guest, Professor Balaram Pani, stated that there are numerous employment options in this degree. During the course's opening event, professor Daman Saluja, the chairman of the research council, also distributed the course's booklet.
According to Saluja, the purpose of this course is to acquaint students with the many types of intellectual property rights, including the necessity for their development, protection, commercialization, and valuation, particularly in the case of patents.
She further stated that the course aims to provide expositions of new patent trends in fields like artificial intelligence, advanced robotics, virtual and augmented reality, biotechnology, nanotechnology, CRIs (Computer Related Inventions), and telecommunications, as well as a thorough explanation of legal issues relating to patents, in order to assist lawmakers and other interested parties in finding solutions to a wide range of legal and practical problems.
