New Delhi: Mahanagar Gas Limited, among India's leading City Gas Distribution (CGD) firms, has been highlighted in a case study presented by the esteemed Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad.

The case study was introduced by Mr. Sanjay Shende, Deputy Managing Director of Mahanagar Gas Limited, and Mr. Sunil Ranade, former CFO & Advisor, during a ceremony held at the renowned IIM Ahmedabad.

The case study titled "Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL): Exploring Fresh Avenues for Fueling Growth" has been written by Professor Amit Karna, who holds the position of Professor in the Strategy Area and is also the Chairperson of PGPX at IIM Ahmedabad. Co-authors include Ms. Shikha Khurana, a Doctoral Student at IIM Ahmedabad and Professor Diptiranjan Mahapatra from IIM Sambhalpur.

The study documents the journey of Mahanagar Gas Limited, showcasing the strategic approach it undertook for its expansion and progress. This journey is divided into three distinct time periods, each phase addressing a unique set of challenges that MGL successfully overcame, propelling the company to a prominent position in the sector.

The study also highlights the noteworthy shifts in shareholding patterns over the years, their effects, and the business strategies executed to stabilize and advance growth in the ever-changing market for natural gas procurement.

Students enrolled in the Executive Post Graduation Program at IIM presented their insights into MGL through the case study, offering recommendations on the study's posed questions.

Mr. Sanjay Shende and Mr. Sunil Ranade, representing Mahanagar Gas Limited, engaged with IIM students by addressing their questions and inquiries, enriching their knowledge and comprehension.

Being selected as the focal point of a case study featured at IIM Ahmedabad is a source of pride for MGL, especially given the limited inclusion of Indian enterprise cases in their curriculum.
