Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta organized its 59th Foundation Day virtually on November 18, 2020.
The Foundation Day was addressed by one of the alumni and Governor of Mizoram, Amolak Rattan Kohli, and fourteen of its alumni were also felicitated for their remarkable contribution in their respective fields.
The felicitation of awards to the alumni of IIM Calcutta was also held online.
The Governor who is also an alumnus of the institute motivated the students in his address, to use their proficiency for uplifting poverty and rescue the marginalized section of the society.

Professor Anju Seth, Director of IIM Calcutta in her welcome speech congratulated everyone for the progress that they made despite facing the challenges due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Professor Seth expressed her gratitude to the government of West Bengal, who granted them 5 acres of land at New Town to promote the aim of constructing the future world-class infrastructure for a satellite campus.
The Chairman of Board of Governors at IIM Calcutta, Shrikrishna Kulkarni in his delivery of speech stated that students must develop networks of partnership for their organization to be expandable, feasible, and be able to overcome failures and disruptions and claimed that the students must possess these skills in order to become successful leaders.
Professor Seth highlighted that the need of the hour for the students is to decipher data, cyber security, and artificial intelligence.

He also stated the significance of adapting the cultural mindset of collaboration in this interconnected world.
Ireena Vittal, Swami Raote, Shantanu Khosla, K.B.S. Anand, Ramya Venkataraman, Mahesh Pratapneni, Ingrid Srinath, Shankar Venkateshwar, Professor Ananth Raman, Professor Sumit Sarkar, Professor Sankaran Venkataraman, Professor Sudha Ram, Professor Krishna G. Palepu, and Professor Prakash G. Apte (Former Director of Indian Institute of Management - Bangalore) were the members that were bestowed with the alumnus awards.
