IIT Delhi and HORIBA India have jointly organized a one-day technical symposium focusing on the Semiconductor Industry. 'TechSEM,' a notable initiative by HORIBA India was also officially launched.
New Delhi: IIT Delhi and HORIBA India have collaborated to host a one-day technical symposium titled 'Solutions for the Semiconductor Industry' at the IIT Delhi campus.
During this event, the launch of 'TechSEM,' an initiative by HORIBA India, was officially inaugurated with the unveiling of its logo. Special guests and the IIT Delhi faculty, including Prof. Rangan Banerjee (Director, IIT Delhi), Dr. Rajendra Singh (Associate Dean, IIT Delhi), Prof. Krishna Balasubramanian (Department of Physics, IIT Delhi), and Dr. Rajeev Gautam (President – HORIBA India), were actively involved in the proceedings.
Through this endeavor, HORIBA India envisions fostering collaboration between the semiconductor industry and academia. The primary objectives include facilitating collaborative learning, jointly undertaking research projects, and enhancing workforce development within the semiconductor manufacturing sector. This initiative is instrumental in cultivating a vibrant semiconductor ecosystem in India.
Expressing his appreciation for the collaborative symposium organized by HORIBA and IIT Delhi, Prof. Rangan Banerjee, the Director of IIT Delhi, highlighted the significance of industry-academia partnerships in the current era of rapid digitalization. Banerjee also proposed the exploration of additional initiatives and collaborative development projects in the near future.
Sharing significant updates with the audience, Dr. Rajeev Gautam, President of HORIBA India, highlighted the recent establishment of manufacturing, repair, and calibration facilities for Semiconductor Mass Flow Controllers, all in line with the 'Make in India' concept.
These facilities are now operational at the HORIBA India Technical Center in Pune. This development marks a crucial milestone for HORIBA, Ltd., Japan, as it actively contributes to bolstering and fortifying the broader Semiconductor ecosystem in India.

The inaugural initiative took place in collaboration with IIT Delhi. The event featured presentations from various academic faculty members and industry experts who provided insights into the Indian Semiconductor landscape.
Topics covered included an overview of the Indian Semiconductor system, the latest advancements and innovations in semiconductors, the prevailing challenges encountered by the semiconductor industry, and the solutions offered by HORIBA to address these challenges.
Additionally, participants had the opportunity for a hands-on experience with HORIBA's Optical Emission Spectrometer.
