JoSAA 2026 Counselling Registration and Choice Filling Begins at josaa.nic.in; Check Last Date to Apply

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has opened the registration and choice filling window for Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2026 counselling on the official portal at josaa.nic.in. The window opened on June 2, 2026 at 5 PM. Candidates seeking admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs and other Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) must complete registration and lock their choices by June 11, 2026 at 5 PM.

JoSAA 2026 will conduct seat allocation across 138 participating institutes for the 2026-27 academic year. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru has joined the JoSAA platform for the first time this year. The first round of seat allotment will be declared on June 13, 2026 at 10 AM.

JoSAA 2026 will hold a total of five seat allocation rounds. Seats remaining vacant after all six rounds will move to the CSAB special counselling round.

What Is New in JoSAA 2026?

JoSAA has revised its business rules for the 2026-27 cycle. The framework now includes seven preparatory rank lists. Separate categories have been added for OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD and ST-PwD candidates. The earlier framework had four preparatory rank lists.

The guidelines also clarify the rules for OCI and PIO candidates. Candidates who have completed Class 12 abroad are eligible only for Other State or All India quota seats. Such candidates cannot access Home State quota positions in the NIT+ system.

How to Register and Fill Choices for JoSAA 2026 Counselling?

Eligible candidates can complete the process by following these steps.

1. Visit the official JoSAA portal at josaa.nic.in.
2. Log in using your JEE Main or JEE Advanced credentials.
3. Fill in academic and personal details on the registration form.
4. Select preferred institutes and branches in order of priority.
5. Review your choices and edit them as needed before the deadline.
6. Lock your choices before June 11, 2026 at 5 PM.

Candidates may revise their choices any number of times before locking. If choices are not locked manually, the system will auto-lock the last saved order at the deadline. Locked choices cannot be edited later.

2. Check the official Business Rules 2026 and seat matrix before filling choices.
3. List as many branch-institute combinations as you wish in priority order.
4. Review the Mock Seat Allocation 1 results on June 8 to gauge chances.
5. Use the Mock Seat Allocation 2 results on June 10 to refine your list.
6. Lock your final choices before June 11, 2026 at 5 PM.
7. Wait for the Round 1 seat allotment result on June 13, 2026 at 10 AM.
