MP Board Exams 2021: MPBSE Says No General Promotion For Students; Decision on School Reopening Soon; Check Details Here

The Madhya Pradesh Board Of Secondary Education (MPBSE) has said in a statement that there would be no mass promotion of students this year. The School Education Minister, Inder Singh Parmar also dismissed any and all such possibilities.

Mr. Parmer said that such a decision would not provide any benefits and only bring harm to the students. A mass promotion by MPBSE would affect the level of education in the state and jeopardize the future of many children. This would also take away the incentive of many students to achieve good scores.

Mr. Parmer further stated that a mass promotion would be unfair to students who put in extreme efforts to achieve a good score and would be a mental blow for such students. A general promotion would also put many students on the backfoot when competing in national examinations.

On the other hand, students who usually get lower scores would benefit from the advantage of higher scores and this would decrease the level of educational institutes in the state. As such, the idea of general promotion was soundly rejected by the MPBSE.

The idea of general promotions was being floated by many pockets of students and parents who were worried because of the situation in the state. Severe lockdowns due to Covid-19 left institutions closed for months and many people wanted the schools to mass promote the students in absence of proper educational institutes.

The Education Minister also spoke to a delegation consisting of the Sahodaya group of CBSE Schools and the Association of Unaided Private Schools and informed them that the state was also considering reopening of schools.

Initially, only classes for grade 9 to grade 12 were being discussed even as the government has yet to declare a definitive date. However, he assured them that the government was exploring all options and that the re-opening of grade 6 to grade 8 would also be discussed soon.

The decision for school re-opening is very important, especially for government school students since they are not attending online classes. While most of the private schools have shifted to online classes, the lack of facilities in government schools is causing great harm to the future of students.
