Tezpur University Collaborates With UNICEF To Establish Centre For Public Policy And Governance

Tezpur University has launched a policy think tank 'Centre for Public Policy and Governance (CPPG)'. The main aim of this is to inform and influence public policy in India, especially addressing issues of North East India.

The Centre would be an interdisciplinary organization with the faculty members from various departments associated as experts in their domains of research.

Tezpur University spokesperson said, "UNICEF would be the technical support partner to Tezpur University in establishing the centre, facilitating and implementing its roadmap for the next few years."

The spokesperson also added that the CPG will work towards building a hub of research and knowledge generation in public policy, governance, and plans to bring out publications (online and offline) in terms of working paper series, occasional paper series, journals, and books.

The University has been closely working in collaboration with UNICEF and any other agencies for the past few years on assessments, seminars, workshops, monitoring, and evaluation studies. They also worked upon informing the government to achieve improved delivery of social sector programmes and policies.

Professor PK Das, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences has been appointed as the Director of the Centre. Dr. Amiya Kumar Das from the Department of Sociology would be the coordinator of the Centre.

An advisory committee has also been set up for the Centre, which comprises various experts, public service professionals, academicians.

The Centre foresees to collaborate with various national and international organizations sharing similar visions. It also plans to facilitate research, capacity building, events, and high-level dialogues for stakeholders including governmental and non-governmental bodies and international organizations.
