The Government of Tripura announced that it will be organizing neighborhood classes to facilitate teaching for students who are unable to attend classes in the online mode.

The Govt will be commencing these neighborhood classes from August 20, 2020. Those students who are unable to avail the online classes facilities offered by the Tripura School Education Department can access these neighborhood classes.

The department had launched a number of modes for online as well as televised teaching to cover up for the loss of classes and keep up with the academic year as much as possible. However, due to a lack of resources and access to the technology required to attend online classes, a large number of students have been disadvantaged during the lockdown.

This is the reason that urged the government to come up with the program to conduct neighborhood classes where teachers from the respective schools will be assisting the students to complete their syllabus till the schools reopen

For each neighborhood class, a maximum of 5 students will be part of one group. There will be two classes per day spanning up to 2 hours each. The teachers will be required to finish at least two groups per day. The syllabus however has been reduced by the Tripura Board and SCERT keeping in mind the challenges faced by the students and teachers in the current scenario.

Students and teachers have been strictly advised to adhere to safety precautions and social distancing norms. They will be required to wear face masks during the entire duration of the classes. Students with health conditions have been told to not attend the neighborhood classes.
