Uttar Pradesh CM Insists on Observation of Social Distancing during Competitive Exams

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has asked all officials in the state to make sure that social distancing norms and coronavirus protocol are observed when the entrance and competitive examinations are held in the state. He has strictly opposed huge gatherings.

He said that more examination centres should be created if needed. On 16 August, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) had held the Block Education Officer (BEO) examination. The examination was held in 1,127 centres across 18 districts of the state. Though 528,314 candidates had registered for the examination, only 233,393 took the test- a mere 44 percent.

Abhishek Prakash, the District Magistrate of Lucknow district, visited the examination centre and directed officials to ensure that only a few students sit in a room. He emphasized the importance of following social distancing norms. The DM also has that it was compulsory for the candidates to wear masks.

Recently, the Uttar Pradesh Education Department held the B.Ed entrance examination in spite of the high incidence of coronavirus cases in the state.
